Take Me to Church

Chapter Nineteen

After the explosion yesterday, we lost a grand total of five Sons. One of the five, happened to be Podraic- Chibs' nephew. It was hard to believe that so soon after they were reunited, they were ripped apart once more.

I woke up before anyone else the morning, and used that as my time to take a quick shower before anyone else could. By the time I was out of the shower, Chibs was no longer in bed; and my guess was that he was with the rest of the boys. So, I was quick to start getting dressed so I could join them.

My outfit consisted of a pair of blue jeans, a grey t-shirt with the converse logo on the front and a plaid over shirt with it, and a pair of little black boots. I pulled my hair over my shoulder and braided it loosely before putting my cut on over top of what I was already wearing. Then, digging down into the bag I brought with us, I pulled out the flask that I had brought for myself.

Once I was dressed, I made my way out of the bedroom and found everyone gathered around in the living room talking. So, I silently walked into the room and sat down on the couch. Everyone was gathered around the table behind the couch- well everyone except for Chibs. Chibs was sitting in the window with his arms crossed over his chest.

My father was also in the room. He was standing at the end of the table, he was the only SAMBEL member in the room- which stuck me as odd. What was going on right now?

"My boys are loyal to the MC. Ready to get O'Neill, the Irish became more important than the patch." My dad sighed, shaking his head. "Well that's not what you told me!" Clay screamed at him. "I like to give my boys the benefit of the doubt, Clay; but after yesterday there's no doubt! He's gone, his flat's empty. He's gone and he's got to be with Jimmy." My dad informed us.

"Son of a bitch!" Clay growled, slamming his hand down on the table.

"I'll handle O'Neill. SAMBEL will handle the betrayal, but we need to put a bullet in Jimmy." Dad sighed once more as he spoke. "No, the only way I get my son back, is if we find O'Neill. We make that bitch tell the truth." Jax was rather quick to intervene and share his two cents.

Jax's words eemed to flip a switch inside my father, and the some-what happy or amused look on his face quickly faded away. His eyes began to roam the room, as if looking for something to say. Then, when his eyes landed on me he paused briefly.

He then took a deep breath. "So, I guess it's the truth we're after."

With that, we all decided to move. We left the apartment, and made our way downstairs, outside, and over to the small shop. Maureen, Trinity, and Cherry were all standing behind the counter together as we walked in.

"We need to find O'Neill." Clay was the first to speak as we all crowed around the counter. "Why, what happened?" Cherry looked concerned as she took a step towards us. "I'm afraid he's in some trouble Cherry." McGee spoke as he moved to stand next to Clay at the counter.

"Your old man is responsible for that blast yesterday." Jax was the one to point out.

"What? No, Liam loves the club." She was a bit too quick to shake her head. Of course she wasn't going to believe us. "We've just got to find him and find out the truth." Bobby tried to sound reassuring as he spoke to the girl. "I know what that means, you're going to kill him." She all but snapped at us. Slowly, her eyes narrowed down into a glare as she looked at us all standing there.

"Just tell 'em what you know sweetheart." Maureen encouraged her, placing her arm around the younger woman. "I don't know anything! Okay? He didn't come home last night, and he hasn't called." She snapped once more.

"He got any family? Some place he might lie low?" Jax asked with a soft voice. "No, I mean the club is his only family, I'm sorry, I really have no idea." Once more, Cherry shook her head. It was silent for a few moments as everyone tried to think of what to do next. "Lets turn over his apartment." Jax mumbled, turning as if to leave.

Everyone follow suit, but not me. Reaching out, I grabbed Gemma by the arm, and stepped her as well. "What's up?" She whispered, looking down at me curiously. "What if we uh, mention something to her about Half-Sack?" I suggested.

As soon as the words left my lips, I could see a light switch on from somewhere within her twisted mind. Moving away from me, Gemma stepped around the counter so that she was standing next to Cherry with her hand resting on her hip. "You hear what happened to Half-Sack?" Gemma asked the younger girl. "Yeah." Cherry whispered, nodding her head. "You know O'Neill's connected to that right?" Gemma informed her. This information seemed to make Cherry snap. "Bullshit!"

"No, she's right. Cammy and Liam, both under Jimmy's authority. You know, Liam was privy to your old man getting a knife in his belly." Maureen spoke softly, backing what Gemma had previously said. "No, no, you're lying." Cheery quickly shook her head, as if a child about to throw a temper tantrum.

"No, Cherry, we're not. We wouldn't lie about this!" I snapped at her. After all, it had been my idea to do this. "You protecting this guy makes you just as guilty baby." Once more, Gemma spoke in a soft voice.

"Liam's not in the MC anymore, He turned on his brothers and he bailed on you." Gemma pointed out when Cherry didn't say anything. "Just tell us what you know." I sighed softly, stepping forward as I spoke. Taking a deep breath and closing her eyes, Cherry nodded her head. "Last week, I found a lot of cash in his pocket, so it made me curious. It went looking through his things, and I found receipts for two bank accounts. Both with a lot of money, and some kind of contracts for a loft down by the docks. Maybe he's there." Cherry confessed.

As soon as the girl was finished speaking, Maureen lunged for the girl. She wrapped her fingers around Cherry's throat and backed her up against the counter. "Never, ever lie to the club- do you understand me?" Maureen growled out. Cherry nodded her head, and Maureen released her.

Trinity had tun out the door, and when she returned the club returned with her. Chibs was very quick to walk over to me, and put his arms around my shoulders. "Now you tell them exactly what you told us." I ordered, sliding my arm around Chibs' waist.

Everyone was deathly quiet as Cherry opened her mouth and told the story once more.

From there, the boys put together and plan, and talked over what they were going to do next. Seeing as Happy had come along with us, I had a pretty good idea what they were going to do once they had found him.

As we all walked outside to leave, I rested my head against my husband's shoulder. "I think I'm gonna sit this one out. As much as I love kinky shit, I am not all that big into torture." I couldn't help but laugh at myself. Chibs laughed along with me.

"That's fine, love. You don't have to go, we won't be gone long." Leaning over, he pressed a light kiss to my lips.

I stay in the lot, once more watching at the boys left. Once they were gone, I made my way back into the club and upstairs to the loft where we had been staying.

Knowing that I didn't just want to sit around doing nothing, I gave myself busy work to do. Going through mine and Chibs' bags, I folded the clothes and repacked the bags- putting all the dirty clothes at the bottom. For both his and mine bags, it took me about twenty-five minutes.

So, once that was finished, I made my way into the kitchen. Only to find the sink full with dirty dishes; so I began to wash them all. "Christ what would these boys do without me." I mumbled. I was washing dishes, and had soapy water up to my elbows when I heard my phone start ringing from where I had left it back into the bedroom with the rest of my things.

Since whoever it was didn't try calling back, I didn't bother with stopping what I was going. In fact, I not only washed all the dirty dishes; but I also made something for the boys to eat once they get back.

It was perfect timing actually. I had just taken the food off of the stove and was about to wash the dishes I had used, when the boys came walking in. Chibs came walking in my direction, so I picked up a dish towel and wiped my hands off so I wouldn't get water all over him. "So, were you able to find him? How'd it go?" I hummed as I looked up at him. Noticing the grim look on his face, I looked around the room to see that the rest of the boys had the same looks on their faces.

Stepping forward, my husband put his hands on my waist as he looked down at me. "Come talk to me, sweetheart." He mumbled, leading me away from the room. We walked down the small hallway and into the bedroom we had been staying in.

My phone was laying on the bed, and the small blinking light alerted me that there was a new voicemail.

"What's going on? What happened out there?" I questioned, leaning over and grabbing my phone. "Kaela, O'Neill unfortunately wasn't the only one working for Jimmy." Chibs sighed, running a hand over his face. Looking at the phone in my hands, I saw that the voicemail was from my dad.

"Oh? So who else was it?" I questioned, not looking up from my phone. "Kaela, it was McGee." He admitted softly. Upon hearing his words, my finger twitched and hit the button to play the voicemail- only for me to hear my father's voice fill the room.

"Kaela, Christ, I wished I wouldn't have gotten your voicemail. I want you to listen to me darling- I need you to know that I'm sorry, for everything. That I was never there when you were growing up, or even once you were grown; and that we've had such little time together now. You're my only daughter, and I don't want you thinking badly of me. I was only trying to provide for my family. I love you darling-don't you dare forget that."

And with that, the line went dead. My hands began to shake ever so slightly, and my eyes began to fill with tears. The phone slipped out of my hold, and landed on the bed with a soft thud. Stepping forward, Chibs was very quick to wrap his arms around me in a comforting manner. He ran his hand over my hair soothingly, as tears began falling from my eyes.

I didn't understand how this could have happened. The club was more than enough for him to provide for his family. What had made him betray his brothers?

We stay like that for about five minutes before slowly making our way back into the kitchen. The food was gone, the boys had obviously been hungry; and Gemma was standing in front of the sink washing the dishes that I had used.

Upon seeing Chibs and I walk back into the room, everyone fell silent. Reaching up, I wiped the tears away from under my eyes. Bobby was the one to, very cautiously, step forward and start speaking in a soft voice. "SAMBEL's gathering, got to take a quick vote and tap Ryan as President." Bobby explained as everyone seemed to gather around.

"Good, we need this charter intact." Clay grumbled. It was painfully obvious to me that he really didn't care. Not about the situation at hand, not about this charter; and he definitely didn't care about anyone around him.

No, all Clay Morrow truly, and honestly care about just so happened to be himself and himself only.

Though, as much as I absolutely hate to admit it, Clay was right. We cannot afford to lose this charter. Or any charter for that matter.

No one hesitated to vote Ryan in as president of the SAMBEL charter, and after the vote just about everyone came walking up to me and offered me their condolences. Everyone, except for Clay who I came to understand was the one who ended things.

Suddenly, spotting Father Kellan Ashby walk into the club, I didn't really have the urge to be around people. Letting my husband know where I was going, I gave his hand a small squeeze before making my way back up the stairs to the ever so familiar loft.
