Take Me to Church

Chapter Thirty-Five

When I woke up the next morning, my entire body was screaming in pain. I ached with every move I made, no matter how small. It made me just want to lay down and sleep the day away.

Upon feeling me moving around, Chibs woke up and immediately sat up on the bed next to me. "Take it easy love, you're going to hurt for a while." I could hear how tired he still was through the sound of his voice. He climbed out of the bed, and slowly made his way into our bathroom. Turning my body, I swung my legs off of the side of the bed, the vibrations of my movement shaking up my arm and causing me to regret moving at all.

"Can you hand me some jeans?" I called out. "Of course." There was a slight chuckle in his voice. Leaning over, I picked a shirt up out of the floor and pulled it onto my body- not caring if it was clean or dirty.

When he returned, he carried a pair of light colored blue jeans that hung loosely on my body. They were perfect. But instead of just handing me the jeans, he crouched down in front of me, and pulled the rough fabric over my legs; placing small kisses on my skin as he went. Once that was done, he slipped socks and shoes onto my feet before standing up.

"Going to look for Juice today?" I hummed, looking up at him. "Aye, I am. Worried about the lad." He nodded his head. "Good. I'm sure he's fine, but I'm worried about him too." I spoke, pulling my cut onto my shoulders. I winced upon moving my arm.

"Maybe it would help if you put your arm into the sling, like Tara suggested?" He spoke lightly. I could see worry in his eyes. A mix of worry for Juice, and worry for me. "No, I'm just a bit sore. I'll be fine." I waved off the pain like it was nothing. I might have been underplaying it just a little bit.

When he stood in front of me, I took a second to take in what all he was wearing. Black pants, a tight leather shirt, boots, and last but not least his cut. "Can you hold on long enough to ride with me on the bike, or do you want to take the cage?" He questioned me after a few moments of silence. "And pass up the chance to ride with you?" I smirked.

Offering me his hand, he helped me to my feet before gathering our things and we walked down the stairs. It was only to the bottom that I realized. "Shit, we can't leave Dyna here on her own, I''ll have to take the cage." I said with a sigh. Chibs looked almost disappointed before a look of understanding appeared on her face. "I'll see you at the club, darling." Leaning over his kissed my cheek before we went our separate ways.

Dyna didn't need a leash, she simply knew what was going on. "Dyna, jump up!" I ordered, opening the back seat door of the cage. Quickly, she jumped into the car, and made herself comfortable laying in the back seat. Chibs walked his bike out of the closed in garage before starting it up, as I made my way around the car and got into the drivers seat. I drove closely behind Chibs, but at a safe distance of course, all the way to the club.

Upon arriving, I let Dyna out of the car before making my way to the office to talk to Gemma, while Chibs went off to talk to the guys. The club, as far as I knew, didn't really have much going on today. Jax and Tara were taking a sort of family trip with Abel and Thomas, so the club was pretty much having a leisure day.

Upon seeing me, Gemma immediately had me sit down in one of the empty chairs in the office. "How are you feeling, baby?" She suggested, looking at me intensely. "Fine, just a little sore I guess. Everyone's just acting like it's so much worse than it actually is." I chuckled, shrugging my shoulders just a bit. "We act like this because we care. Because you were lucky, that injury could've been so much worse than it turned out to be." She said with a sigh, shaking her head ever so slightly. "I know it could've been worse, I just mean that I'm not made of glass. I hate being treated like I'm going to break at any moment." I explained further.

She simply stared at me for a few moments, before getting back to the paper work that was sitting in front of her.

Sitting here in silence drove me absolutely insane; but there was nothing else for me to do. With my arm injured, I couldn't go out and work in the garage like I'm supposed to be doing. Instead, I was stuck just sitting here.

The only sounds I could hear was Gemma flipping through papers and the boys working in the garage. That is, until a phone started ringing loudly, and breaking the silence.

"Hello?" Gemma was quick to answer the ringing phone. "Holy shit, is she alright? Good, we'll be there soon." With that, she hung up. Standing, she began gathering her things and making her way towards the door. "What's going on?" I asked, jumping up. Dyna rose to her feet and followed along with the two of us. Seeing Rat standing in the parking lot, I pointed towards him quickly, "Dyna go!" I ordered.

She trotted off towards the man as she had been told. "Just come on." Was all Gemma told me, making her way over towards her car.

Doing as I was told, I climbed into the passenger seat of her car, and allowed her to take off driving to where ever it was that we were going. I was more than a bit confused when we pulled into the parking lot at the hospital. My gut sank, immediately thinking that Chibs could've been the one that was hurt.

"Jax! You okay, baby?" Gemma called out upon seeing her son standing in the hallway with a few cops. "I'm fine, don't worry about me. It's Tara." His voice was soft, but shook with every word he spoke. Part of me was relieved, but the worry and stress had moved on to a different person.

"Where is she, what the hell happened?" I spoke up, looking to the blonde man standing in front of me. "They took her down to x-ray. Someone attacked her, messed up her hand real bad. They tried to abduct her." His voice was hushed, and you could see the sadness in his eyes. He was blaming himself for what happened.

As he walked away with a cop to give his statement about what happened, the rest of the guys came running into the waiting room. Chibs pulled me into his arms and held me tight for a few seconds, obviously they hadn't gotten word of what had really happened. Only the 'come to the hospital quick' like Gemma had told me. Clay did the same with Gemma. "What the hell is going on?" Clay breathed out, looking down at his Old Lady for answers. "Someone tried to take Tara, and they hurt her real bad." Gemma put it plain and simple. "Jesus, do we know who did it?" He questioned her. "No." Gemma and I both answered at the same time.

Though, Gemma was giving her husband a suspicious side glance. Not seeming to notice, or maybe he just didn't care, he simple turned and walked away muttering under his breath. I knew if we wanted any real information, we would have to wait for Jax to come back. Luckily, we didn't have to wait too long.

"They were speaking Spanish, had to be Lobo retaliation." Jax still sounded sad, but he also sounded confident. "I got a call in to Romeo- haven't heard back yet." Clay honestly didn't sound like he cared in the slightest. "Let's go find Laroy. He knows how to get in touch with Lobo." Jax ordered, looking to Tig.

"We got V-Lin at your house with the nanny. We'll keep Phil and Rat here with Tara." Tig nodded his head.

"Call Alvarez, we might need him." Jax ordered, turning to walk away. Everyone but Chibs walked away with Jax. Instead, Chibs stayed next to me, leaning against the wall in the hallway. He looked upset.

"What's wrong, sweetheart?" I questioned, looking up at him. There was very little space between the two of us. "I don't know, something about all this just doesn't feel right." He shrugged his shoulders ever so slightly. His arms were crossed over his chest. "So I'm not the only one having that feeling?" I sighed, shaking my head. His phone began ringing in his pocket, but he didn't move to answer. "Gotta go. Call if you need anything, love." He kissed the top of my head before walking away- once more leaving me alone with Gemma.

"Now what?" I questioned, turning to look at the woman standing next to me. "Come with me, we're going to get some god damn answers." She growled out, turning to walk away- quickly.

I didn't bother asking any questioned, I just followed along behind her- just to end up back in the passenger seat of her car. This time our destination, just so happened to be her home. Judging by the face that his bike was out front, I'm guessing that Gemma knew Clay was going to be home instead of with the boys like he was supposed to be.

"Stay here, I'll be back." Putting her sunglasses on top of her head, she climbed out of the car. I watched, confused, as she walked into the house; but something in my gut was telling me I should be worried. Clay was supposed to be with the boys trying to figure out what happened to Tara, so what the hell was he doing here alone?

Even sitting in the car, I could hear them yelling at one another from inside the house; and the sinking feeling in my gut became bigger. The shouting stopped and Clay came running out of the house. His eyes found me sitting in the car and he paused momentarily before jumping on his bike and leaving. Climbing out of the car, I rushed into the house. Only to find Gemma on the kitchen floor, unconscious and bleeding. I did the first thing I could think of, which was to call Chibs.

Once I knew he was on his way, I grabbed a towel and tried wiping the blood away from her face so I could see exactly where the blood was coming from. Because of the soreness in my arm, I wasn't able to pick her up off of the floor- why the hell did Clay do this to her?

"What the hell happened here?" Chibs growled out upon seeing Gemma lying on the floor. "I'm not entirely sure as to why it happened, but what I do know is that Clay's the one who did it." I explained as Chibs picked the woman up off of the floor and carried her down the hallway to her bedroom.

What the hell was going on?
