Little Red

the wolf

The wolf sniffs the air, attempting to locate a scent of prey in the forest. It has been days since her last successful hunt and her frame is deathly thin. Her movements exaggerate her bones as she prowls the area near her den.

Suddenly, a flash of bright red amongst the darker undertones of the bush. The wolf has never seen such a creature before. She eagerly follows the billowing cape but keeps her distance from the peculiar creature.

But then her prey approaches a human cottage and opens the door. The wolf judges the distance and then sprints forward, leaping inside just as the door closes, and it brushes against the tip of her tail.

She is confronted by two humans and the wolf can smell their fear. She bars her teeth and prepares for a pounce. It is either her or the humans, and the wolf is desperate enough to take the risk. After all, she has her own children to feed.
