Paralysed

“Did you hear me?” she said with a nervous chuckle. She paused to take in his expression. It was like her words had paralysed him. Not a single muscle moved in his body except for his eyelids, which occasionally flickered over his wide eyes that resembled a deer caught in headlights. His lips were parted but he didn’t appear to be breathing.

“I said I love you,” she tried again, with a little more passion in her voice. That coaxed him out of his shocked state and a huge breath of relief sounded from him before he rushed forwards to kiss her. He hadn’t imagined her confession after all.
