My Mediocre Work

pastel | paint | proud

All it took was one innocent lie when I was at school. I liked that art class. Suddenly I was pushed to become the next Van Gogh, and it spiralled out of control. I had to take all of the art-related classes at school and even when I came home I couldn’t escape the art supplies because you had bought me so many. Pastels, paints, canvases, sculpting clay; anything an artist could dream of owning was sprawled out before me and I was forced to create my mediocre work. All because I didn’t want to let you down. If you wanted an artistic child to be proud of, then damn was I going to try.
