Haunting Grey
Six
I've chased Natalie through the woods countless times, and I was always able to find her. But this time, after she spoke to me, and I'd blinked, she'd vanished again.
There was no way she had run off and I hadn't heard her.
But there was only empty space in front of me.
As I walked back the way I'd come, I'd pulled out my phone and called my father. I told him that I talked to Natalie.
He was quiet for a moment, then he said in a strange voice, "The police came by. I tried to call you. They found her body."
Then he made a noise like he was trying not to cry.
"I'm sorry," he whispered. "Please come home, and I'll tell you everything."
