Hannibal

Meeting More Family

It felt like no time had gone by and it was already 2 weeks later.
It was now time for Frankie's birthday party.
"Daddy. I don't think I wanna meet everyone." I said with a nervous tone.
"That's okay, baby girl. We can meet everyone at your pace."
"Will grandmom and grandpa be here?"
"My parents will be. Daddy's parents don't really agree with this."
"Oh." I felt let down.
"Almost all of daddy's and my brothers and sisters will be here though."
"Okay."
"I'm sorry, sweetie. Did daddy not tell you about them?"
"No." I said quietly. "Thought I was gonna meet them." I mumbled.
"I'm sorry, sweet pea." Theo sighed. "I promise you'll love everyone else." He gave me a small smile.
"Okay, papa. I trust you." Right as I said this, the door bell rang.
Theo carried me to the door and I quickly hid my face in his neck.
Theo opened the door and smiled.
"Hey, Han. It's good to see you again." I peaked out and saw Hannah standing there with Ethan.
"Hi, guys." She smiled at me and Theo. "Keith will be here soon."
"Alright." Theo said. "Four is here if you wanna go say hi. He stayed over last night."
Hannah lifted up Ethan with ease and said, "Wanna go see uncle four?" Ethan smiled and said, "yeah."
"Hey, T!" Hannibal shouted from the other room.
"Yeah?" Theo held shouted back.
"Did you get the cake yet?"
"Yeah! It's in the fridge." Theo laughed and carried me into the living room. He set me beside Hannibal.
"Hi, princess." Hannibal smiled and kissed my head.
"Hi." I said quietly, laying my head in his lap.
The doorbell rang again and I sat up.
Hannibal seemed to sense my panic as he lifted me onto his lap.
"It's okay." He said and kissed my head again.
I watched the doorway and saw a young looking woman and a young man come in. The woman seemed tired and the man seemed excited.
"Hi, Frankie. Hi, Ethan." The boy said as he sat on the floor beside the two of them.
"Hi, Jakey." Frankie had a big smile on his face. "Say hi to Palelopee! She's my new sister."
"Hi." The boy said with a big smile.
"Come here, June bug." Hannibal said to the woman.
She yawned and came over to Hannibal.
He held his arm out and she sat beside him.
She looked at me and gave me a tired smile.
"Hi, Penny. It's nice to meet you."
I gave her a smile back.
Theo came back in the room with 5 other people.
Two of the people were older, two were around the same age as Hannibal and Theo and the other one was small, but probably around my age.
"Alright, Pen." Theo said from the entry way. "That's grandma and poppy." Theo pointed to the older two. "This is Jessie and Lola." He motioned towards the man and woman. "Jessie is my brother." He supplied. "Lola is his wife and this is their little boy, Presley." He motioned to the boy standing close to Jessie.
Two more people walked in and I looked back at Theo.
"That's Hailey, daddy's sister. She's June's mommy." He pointed to a woman with long blonde hair. "And that's Sid, my youngest brother." He pointed to the dark haired guy. "Jake is his little boy."
I looked up at Hannibal and said, "I have a grandma and a poppy, daddy." Hannibal smiled and said, "Yes you do, little one."
"Hey, cutie." Emma came over.
I didn't say anything, I felt too nervous.
"You are even cuter in person." She smiled at me.

~

It was now around 1 o'clock and everyone had arrived.
I still was nervous and I still hasn't spoken to anyone but Theo and Hannibal. I also had some small talks with Frankie.
I was almost asleep in Theo's arms when I felt him suddenly moving. He was standing up and going towards the door.
Theo opened the door and there was two people standing there.
"What are you doing here?" Theo sounded angry.
"Where is Hannibal?"
"Please leave. It's our sons birthday. You don't need to ruin this."
Hannibal came to the door and gave the two people a similar look to Theo's.
"Why are you here?" He sounded upset. "You don't like that we do this. Just go the hell away." Hannibal was on the verge of tears.
Hailey must of heard the shouting, because a moment later she was standing beside us all.
I wanted to be put down. I wanted to run. I wanted my panda toys.
"What's up mom and dad?" Hailey gritted out through clenched teeth.
"Why don't you let us come in, kids?"
Theo began walking away. "Deal with them." He said with an angry tone and carried me to the kitchen. I began crying and I felt sick.
"I'm so sorry, princess." Theo said. "You shouldn't have seen that."
I just hugged him tightly and cried more.
"Please don't cry, baby girl."
I couldn't stop myself. The tears were just spilling out of my eyes.
I heard shouting from the other room. Hannibal's voice was loud and I could also hear Hailey shouting as well.
"Just get the hell out!" Hailey shouted.
I started shaking and I held tightly onto Theo.
Someone came into the room.
"Can you take her?" Theo asked. "I need to get them out of the house." Theo sounded tired.
"Yeah. I'll take her." I recognized the voice. It was Hannah.
She took me from Theo and held me in her arms.
"Hi, pretty girl. There's no need to cry." Hannah held me close. "No sense in crying over crappy people."
Hannah walked into the entry way and made her way up the stairs.
"Let's get you changed." She said as she walked to my room.
I was laid on my back on the changing table.
"Can I have my panda?" I sniffled.
Hannah looked around and saw my panda on my bed.
She grabbed it and handed it to me.
"Thank you." My voice sounded raspy.
"No problem, sweetie." She began undressing me and changing my diaper. She wasn't as fast as Theo or Hannibal, but I felt safe.
"I love you." I don't know why I said it.
Hannah instantly smiled and got teary eyed.
"I love you too." Tears were slowly streaming down her face.
"Why are you crying?" I didn't know what to do.
"I don't know, princess. I think I'm just really happy." She laughed lightly. She wiped he eyes. "Let's go join everyone else, baby."
She picked me back up and kissed my head.
She carried me back downstairs to join everyone else.
"Where are your daddies?" She asked Frankie when we got back into the living room.
"Outside." Frankie pointed towards the back door.
"Thanks, kiddo. "
Hannah walked over to the backyard door and spotted Hannibal and their parents in the gazebo. Hailey and Theo were also sitting with them.
She slid the back door open and shouted to them.
"Han. Can you come inside please?"
Hannibal looked at Theo and said something then left the gazebo.
He walked towards the house and held his arms out to me.
"No more yelling?" I asked quietly.
"No more yelling. I'm sorry, baby girl."
I reached out and he brought me into his arms.
Hannah rubbed my back then patted Hannibal's.
She went outside and shut the door behind herself.
"Don't like yelling." I said to him.
"I know, sweetie. And that won't happen again."
I wrapped my arms around him and laid my head on his chest.
I felt smaller than usual, but it was nice to be held.
"Daddy?"
"What, baby?"
"Why don't your parents like us?"
"They're complicated people, Pen."
"I wanna meet them." I said.
"I don't know if that's a good idea, honey. "
"I'll be okay." I said with a stern and confident voice.
"Uh. Okay."
Hannibal looked worried, but he walked to the back door and took me to his parents.
"Who's this?" Hannibal's father sounded angry.
Hannibal set me on the bench across from them.
"This is-." I cut Hannibal off.
"I'm Penelope." I looked at the man who was supposed to be a father to my daddy. "Who are you?"
"I'm apparently supposed to be your grandpa." He had an air of arrogance around him.
"I thought grandparents were supposed to be fun and nice." I looked at Hannibal. "He's not very nice." I said to him.
"He never has been." Hannibal sighed.
"Why aren't you nice?" I asked the man seriously.
Hannibal's mother laughed. "He can be very nice. It usually helps if people are nice to him first." She said.
"Well that's not very fair." I complained. "You can't just expect people to be nice to you if you're not nice first."
"This one's got a mouth on her." Hannibal's father said. "Where do you find these freaks anyway, Hannibal?"
Hannibal flared his nostrils and looked as if he was going to begin shouting again.
"Daddy." I said quietly.
Hannibal quickly looked to me and calmed down.
"No yelling." I said quietly. I was a little bit frightened.
"I know, sweetie." Hannibal went towards the door of the gazebo.
"Please leave my home and don't come back." He said angrily. He lifted me back up and walked back to the house.
I didn't know what to do. I felt a little bit sick and I was scared that I was going to be shouted at.
Hannibal went to the living room and set me down beside Frankie.
He went to the front door and I heard a slam.
I flinched.
"It's okay, Nel. He uh. He gets like this sometimes." Someone said to me. I looked up and saw someone I hadn't seen before.
"Who are you?" I asked quietly.
"I'm your uncle, Ned."
"Are you my daddy or papas brother?"
"Your papas. He's a few years older than me. And don't worry, honey, Hannibal will be back soon." Ned gently touched my hair.
I felt safe near him. I scooted closer to him. He lifted me up from the floor so that I was now sitting beside him.
Theo came into the house and said, "Where did Han go?"
"He left." Ned said.
I laid my head down on Ned's shoulder and yawned.
Theo sighed and came to sit beside us.
"Sorry everyone. This has kind of been a crappy birthday."
Frankie looked at Theo.
"It's not crappy, papa." He said quietly. "I got to see lots and lots of my family."
Theo smiled. "I'm so sorry though. I don't know why they came."
"It's okay, papa. We still have grandma and poppy and they're lots a fun."
Both of Theo's patents smiled and said.
"We're always happy to see our favorite kiddos." His mother said.
"Papa. Where did daddy go?" I asked quietly.
"I don't know, sweet pea." Theo looked tired. "But he'll be back before you know it."
