Chapter 24
“hey babe” Harry said walking outside, he stopped and looked around before his eyes focused on the object sitting on the beach. He clearly understood why she loved it here so much. You could hear the waves and the sounds of the seagulls from her entire house, and it was peaceful. He watched as she picked up a stick and threw it down the water line, Bailey happily running to retrieve it and bring it back to her. He smiled and looked back at the house, with a deep breath he walked down the stairs and towards the sand. “so this is where you spend all your time?” she jumped at the sound and turned to see Harry looking out at the water.
“Does Jim know you’re out here?” she asked, Harry chuckled and sat down next to her.
“Last I checked, I was an adult….in an adult relationship and if my girlfriend needs me, I’m going to be wherever she is” he said putting his arm around her, she smiled and threw the stick “what’s wrong? What happened at the grocery store that got you so upset?”
“Carissa DeLarenzo”
“hmm….what did this Carissa DeLarenzo do?”
“she’s just a bitch” Harry chuckled and began to draw his name in the sand
“that can’t be the entire reason…did she say something to you?”
“yeah” she said taking a deep breath “she heard I was dating you and told me you could do better”
“hmm”
“said…and I quote ‘I hear your dating Prince Harry’ and I said ‘what’s it to you?’ which she replied ‘what’s a handsome Prince doing with someone like you?’”
“someone like you and not someone like her?”
“I guess”
“darling, you can’t let things like that get to you, we have talked about this”
“it’s not just that Harry….Carissa” Blakely took in a deep breath “stole my boyfriend in high school, we were best friends”
“ohhhhh” Harry said with a smile “well I’m glad she did”
“what?” she asked looking over at him Harry chuckled
“If she wouldn’t have stolen your boyfriend…..who is to say what would have been….you could have married him, never went to Africa, and I would have never met the person I want to spend the rest of my life with”
“she married him” she said softly
“see what I mean?” he asked leaning his forehead on hers, she nodded her head and smiled “I love you”
“I love you too” she said kissing him lightly “and I want to spend the rest of my life with you too” Harry smiled and pulled away to look at her
“and we will” she nodded her head and looked over at Bailey who gave up and laid down in the sand to chew the stick
“shall we head home and start dinner?”
“yeah” Harry stood up and reached down to take her hand, she smiled and stood up with him. She wiped the sand off her butt and looked at the couple next to them, they were staring up at Harry who was paying no attention to them
“come on Bailey” Bailey jumped up and began to walk to the house, Harry took her hand and they walked side by side to the stairs
“those people noticed you”
“I know” he said with a smile, he opened the door and allowed her to go in he turned to see the couple still staring and gave them a smile and a wave before walking into the house. “I want to watch you cook” he said sitting down on the counter top of the sink, she moved around the kitchen with ease and Harry quickly to notice how comfortable she was in the kitchen. She had told him previously how much she loved to cook but now he could see it. “teach me?” she turned away from the cabinet to look at him.
“You want to learn how to cook your highness?” Harry chuckled and stood up
“yes Doctor”
“ok, wash your hands”
“done” he said walking to the sink. She smiled and got out a glass pan, a bowl, eggs, bread crumbs, seasoning and hamburger meat. Harry wiped his hands on the towel and turned to look at her “I’m ready”
“first thing is first”
“what’s that?”
“wine” she said grabbing 2 glasses, Harry chuckled and grabbed a wine bottle and opener, he poured the glasses and put the cork back on the bottle
“here you go” he said, she turned and grabbed the glass “to the best girlfriend” he said with a smile, Blakely grinned and raised her glass
“to the best boyfriend” Harry chuckled and brought his glass to hers “alright soldier, we need to mix up the bread crumbs, eggs, seasoning and meat” she said pointing to the bowl. Harry nodded and began to crack the eggs while she measured out the bread crumbs
“how do we mix this?”
“put your hands in it”
“what?” he asked with a chuckle
“don’t be afraid to get dirty”
“I, my dear am not afraid” he said sticking his hands into the raw meat, “who is that?”
“I don’t know I’m not expecting anyone right now” she said wiping her hands on the towel, Harry smiled and turned back to the task he was doing. “3, 2, and 1”
“OHMYGOD” Blakely screamed opening the door, Harry chuckled and turned to see Blakely in Cole’s arms, Leslie on the side laughing. She waved happily to Harry who smiled and gave a nod back “what are you doing here?”
“came to surprise you, and the family”
“hi” Leslie said hugging her
“Harry” Blakely said, Harry looked up from the sink “did you know about this?”
“me? No way” she raised a eyebrow as Cole chuckled “alright yeah I did, we planned together”
“you guys have me spoiled, it’s only been like 3 weeks, what am I going do when you leave and I don’t see you for 3 months”
“we don’t talk about that right now” Harry said kissing her head, he moved past her to hug Cole and Leslie
“does mom know you’re here?”
“no, we literally just got here like a hour ago” he said sitting down on the chair “where is Susanna and Bailey?”
“on a run” Blakely said happily she sat down next to her brother and his girlfriend while Harry made everyone a drink and stuck the meatloaf in the oven. They began to talk and lost track of time until Susanna and Bailey walked in the house
“whoa, hey” she said hanging up the leash
“how are you?” Cole asked standing up to hug her
“sweaty” Cole chuckled
“I live in Africa, sweat doesn’t bother me, Susanna this is my girlfriend Leslie, Les this is my sisters best friend of many years Susanna”
“nice to meet you” Leslie said shaking her hand, Susanna smiled before looking at Blakely
“I’m gonna shower before everyone else gets here” she said heading to her room, Harry raised a eyebrow and pulled Blakely to the kitchen
“what?”
“does Susanna have a thing for Cole?”
“what? no”
“you sure about that?”
“yeah, she’s been my best friend since we were little, why?”
“uh just a hunch I was getting” he said shrugging his shoulder. Blakely chuckled and grabbed the potatoes. Harry watched as she put them in water and began to boil them. “babe I really think she does, and if she does I feel really bad that Leslie is here”
“I mean, she had a crush on him in Middle School but she’s been over that”
“I don’t think she is” Harry said finishing his wine “just watch her around him” he said kissing her head. Blakely rolled her eyes as the doorbell rang
“it’s mom, can I get it?”
“yeah” Blakely said, She chuckled when she heard her mom squeal
“Cole!” Lacey said
“surprise”
“did you know about this?” Marlee asked walking to Blakely
“no” she said hugging her “but mom, this is Harry….Harry this is my mom Marlee”
“nice to meet you” Harry said opening his arms to hug her, Marlee’s eyes went wide as he wrapped his arms around her, Blakely chuckled
“and this is my sister Lacey and my brother in law David”
“nice to meet you both”
“it’s a honor” Lacey said shaking his hand with a small curtsey, Blakely blushed as Harry chuckled.
“please….treat me as Blakely’s boyfriend”
“right, sorry” David shook Harry’s hand as Blakely stood back and watched
“and who do we have here?” Marlee asked pointing to the 3 men
“this is my security team Jim and Mike, they go with me everywhere and then Avery, he comes along with Blakely is around” Harry said with a smile
“just pretend we aren’t here” Jim said with a smile
“but I cooked for yall Jim”
“yes ma’am” he said with a small chuckle, Harry smiled and rubbed her back
“oh potatoes are ready, can you put the green beans in the microwave?”
“yeah” Harry said going to the freezer, Marlee watched the 2 of them with a smile before elbowing Lacey and motioning to the kitchen where her daughter and her Prince were laughing, talking and stealing kisses, her heart melted when she realized it had been a really long time since she had seen her youngest this happy, and she only wished her husband was there to see it.
“ok dinner is ready” Blakely said putting the plates out, everyone piled into the kitchen to fix their plates before moving to the living room to eat.
“wow babe, this is really good” Harry said, Blakely smiled
“so good, this is my favorite sis” Cole said
“good job Blake” David added
“Jim?”
“yes ma’am”
“how do you like it?” Jim looked at Avery and Mike before looking over at Blakely with a smile and a thumbs up.
“very good ma’am” Blakely smiled and looked over at Harry.
“so you two are heading to Colorado?” Lacey asked
“yeah in a few days for the wounded warriors foundation” Harry said
“Harry don’t you have the Invictus games?”
“I do, It is in Toronto this coming up year, last year it was in Orlando and the first games where in London” he said proudly
“that’s incredible Harry” Susanna said, Blakely smiled at Harry who blushed.
“you are your mother” Marlee said with a smile
“so I’m told”
“what are your intentions with Blakely?” David asked, everyone looked at him as Blakely choked on her food
“David”
“no, I’m not the only one that wants to know”
“David man” Cole spoke up
“no, no its ok” Harry said looking at Cole, he looked at Blakely and smiled before looking at Cole “I’m going to marry her one day” Blakely blushed and looked down at her plate “I’ve never met anyone like her before, she keeps me on my toes and she fits in so well with my close friends and my family” he said with a smile
“if you were to get married one day as you say, would she have security?” he asked
“yes, she pretty much already does. I wanted to send someone here to be with her when she left Africa but she refused” Marlee chuckled
“sounds about right” Blakely smiled at her mom
“what about…”
“David, enough” Marlee warned, Lacey put her hand on his shoulder “Harry, I have watched closely with the way you treat my daughter and as a mother I was so nervous when she told me about you, I know about your parents past, but son” Harry looked up at her “I’m confident this won’t be like that, and you will always treat my daughter like she hung the moon, and be faithful. I don’t want no rings for quite awhile but just know when the time comes….as of right now you have my blessing, don’t mess that up”
“Does Jim know you’re out here?” she asked, Harry chuckled and sat down next to her.
