The Right Fit
Chapter 7
Once the guest started to arrive Dee began to introduce Blakely to the people she hadn't met. Doctors working with children with HIV/AIDS just like her brother, Zoologist, children's therapist, locals, and neighbors. She would be lying if she said she wasn't having a wonderful time. Dinner had come and went and it was the most amazing mixture of African and Indian food. Butter chicken curry with basmati rice, and beef tips. They even had nan bread with multiple sauces. She watched as Harry mingled with everyone and she could see just how relaxed he was in this atmosphere. Nobody treated him as a royal, or hung all over him except Britt.
"She is beautiful Harry" Prince Seeiso said looking across the lawn at Blakely who was talking to Dee and one of the doctors who came with Seeiso, Lane was cuddled in her lap fast asleep. Harry turned and smiled at the sight.
"You know that's Cole's sister right?" Seeiso chuckled
"Yeah I kind of put it together" he said with a shrug, the older man put his hand on Harry's shoulder "she fits, hold onto her" he said before turning to walk off. Harry watched as Dee walked off to probably get more drinks, and Blakely adjusted the sleeping child in her lap. She looked across the fire and their eyes met. She smiled and blushed before turning away. Harry grabbed a blanket and walked over
"Here" he said unfolding the blanket "she looks so peaceful" he said covering up Lane
"She is the sweetest" Blakely said softly. Harry sat down next to her and nodded his head. "Dee told me she adopted her when she was just a baby" Harry looked over at her "I just can't imagine what this poor baby is going through" Harry knew right away that Dee had told her that Lane had the HIV virus.
"I know" he said softly "when I first met Lane, the doctors didn't even know if she would make it" he said "but this little girl" he chuckled "surprised everyone"
"Thank you"
"For?"
"Inviting me. This has been hands down one of my favorite days ever" Harry smiled and looked up as Dee started to walk up
"Well I tell you what, why don't you hand over Lane, grab the blanket, I'll grab some wine and there's a place I want to show you"
"Ok" she said softly
"Here, I'm going to take her, put her in bed" dee said with a smile, overhearing the young couple'a conversation. Blakely nodded and passed over the little girl careful not to wake her as Harry stood up to go get some wine and glasses.
"Ready?" She nodded her head with a smile and followed next to him.
"Harry?"
"Hmm" he looked next to him to see her pointing
"Are those zebra's?" She asked, Harry looked across the pond and smiled
"Yes they are" he said setting the blanket down
"Wow" she said with a smile, Harry smiled and set the wine down, she looked around the savanna, the only light, was coming from the big moon above. Harry spread out the blanket and sat down "this is beautiful" she said sitting down next to him
"Here you go" he said handing her a glass "Africa's best white wine" she smiled and took a sip
"Mmm, that is good"
"It was my mums favorite"
"I'm so sorry" she said softly, Harry looked at her with a eyebrow raised, something later on she would find incredibly sexy.
"For?"
"Everything you had to go through"
"Ah, don't be" he said shaking his head, he shrugged his shoulder "I went through a lot, but it seems to me....you went through more" he said, she chuckled
"Yeah" she said softly looking out at the water "but mine wasn't public like yours" she took another drink and turned to look at harry who was laying on his left elbow, his right knee propped up.
"I'm....I'm amazed by you Blakely"
"Me?" She asked shyly
"Yeah" he said with a smile, she took in a deep breath as he sat up and looked at her "you are incredible"
"But I'm really not though"
"So this....you....the last 24 hours is a act?"
"Excuse me?"
"Are you like this at home? With your friends and family? Or just around me?" She didn't know what to say. Should she be offended? She narrowed her eyebrows "I can see it in your eyes, this is you"
"Harry....I" she started. She stared in his eyes before getting lost. He brought his hand to her face and gently stroked her cheek. He took in a deep breath and brought his lips to hers. Her heart began to pound as she felt the warmth of his lips. She closed her eyes and allowed him access. Wait. What was she doing? He pulled away with his eyes still closed and bit his lip. She opened her eyes and looked at him
"I'm sorry" he said, his cheeks turning a soft pink
"Don't be" she said feeling the warmth on her cheeks. He looked at her again and smiled.
"Yeah?" She smiled and nodded
"yeah" he leaned in once more and kissed her again. "Your brother is going to be so mad" he said pulling away, Blakely frowned
"Don't worry about my brother"
"So....then what?"
"Enjoy the moment and let it take it's course" she said, Harry smiled and brought his lips to hers again.
"I can do that"
"HARRY!" They heard, Harry turned towards the house to see Britt searching for him. He sighed and looked at Blakely who was giggling
"I think someone likes you"
"Yeah, well it's not the person I want to like me" he said with a smile, she blushed again and looked back at the house
"We should probably head back up before she sends a search party" she said downing the wine left in her glass. Harry nodded and stood up. He held out his hand and she took it. He leaned down and kissed her once more before picking up the blanket and following her towards the house
"Harry! There you are" Britt said excitedly
"Hey" he said giving her a side hug. He saw the smirk on Blakely's face as she walked to the chair next to Dee.
"Good ole Britt" Dee whispered, Blakely looked over and smiled before looking across the fire to see Harry talking to Lawrence with Britt hanging on every word he spoke "I love my niece but the girl needs to get a grip" Blakely looked at Dee "Harry would never...."
"How old is she?"
"17" Blakely grinned and nodded her head "you have nothing to worry about dear, I see the way he looks at you" Blakely looked at the new glass of wine in her hands
"We've only known each other 24 hours" she said taking a deep breath, Dee smiled and looked over at Harry who had glanced to look at Blakely
"When you know, you know" Dee said with a smile, the same spoken words that had lingered with Harry where now lingering with Blakely. She looked across the fire to see Harry laughing with Prince Seeiso and bit her lip, Dee elbowed her and gave her a small wink.
