The Realm of Masks

Alya is 18 and in the middle of her last year of living peacefully in The School. She has gone as far as she could with advanced classes and scholarships and she dreads the future out in The City, where emotions are met with hostility and weakness is beaten out of everyone. In preparation for moving to The City, she visits her older sister in an attempt to secure herself a job in one of the seven government buildings. While there, she is taken hostage by a man known as Avarice. After a tense stand off, Alya is finally rescued and sent swiftly back to The School. However, she has not escaped Avarice completely.
