Scribbles of a Broken Heart

And it was Sweet

"I don't understand. You've been on dozens of dates in the past month and had two girlfriends. You're parents must know!"

"Okay, my parents aren't as strict as yours. I'm allowed to date as long as its doubles, but I'm not allowed to have a girlfriend. They think it’s too much of a commitment for me to handle in high school. They want me more focused on grades. I also think that they think that I'm too young to be that devoted to a single girl. I'm allowed to have a girlfriend when I'm sixteen, where in their words; I'll be more matured."

"You're lucky, I'm not allowed to date 'til out of college."

"That's ridiculous!"

I already expected that answer, "I knew you were going to say that."

"Psychic, now are we?"

"Something like that," I giggled.

He passed me a bag of chips and a soda from downstairs, a routine snack after getting home. I grabbed the tab of the Pepsi can and tried to apply the right amount of pressure, wanting to open it to my approval. However, frowning when I heard the metal pop.

"Here," Garrett waved his own Pepsi in my direction, “we can switch.”

I gave him a sweet smile as we exchanged sodas.

"What is the point of this story?"

I looked at Ms. Templeton annoyingly, "It was sweet."

"Well, you don't have to go into that full of detail," she huffed.

"You know Ms. Templeton...I think you chose the wrong profession."

"It's almost five, Constance. You should probably head home before you're parents come."

I sighed, my head on top of his shoulder, "Yeah..."

"Come on, they don’t even know that you’re over here.”

I nodded into the nook of his shoulder before sitting up and getting all my stuff together.

"Call you later?" he asked.

“Um, I don’t think so. I haven’t studied for the tests I have tomorrow.<br>

"You're such a nerd," he chuckled.

I didn't take offense though. It was true. It wasn't that I cared too much about school though; just did the homework and aced the tests. And according to my high school peers, a person with straight A's is always branded as a geek of some sort. Plus, it was what my parents expected from me, ever since I could remember. It got them off my back about school work though, and they pretty much just left me alone when I was at home.

"But you're a cute one though", he added.

My face warmed as I swung my backpack over my right shoulder, "Thanks."

I walked over to him, both of us now standing, about to say goodbye.

"See you tomorrow," I wrapped my arms around the middle of his back and placed my head
against his chest.

His arms were around my waist, even as I pulled away.

I looked up at him, wondering why he hadn’t' let go yet. Slowly he bent down and placed a
soft kiss on my left cheek. His lips making a slight sound as they pulled away.

"Bye."

And I could feel his eyes on me as I walked out.
