Somebody Like Me

One Hundred & Three: I’ve Seen Better

Resting his weight against the door frame, Sergio quirked a soft smile, his dark eyes settled on Cassie who stood a little away from him, getting Luna ready for the match that evening. It was a big one, with the league having reached its conclusion the weekend before, Real Madrid were due to play in the Copa Del Rey final that night, and after a little flattery, Sergio had convinced Cassie to bring the twins and Noah along, something he was greatly looking forwards to. He knew that it was only a small thing, the chances were, the children wouldn’t remember it anyways, but still Sergio loved the idea of them being at his match. A part of him wanted to show off a little for his family.

“Aren’t you supposed to be getting ready to leave?”

Sergio, who’d drifted off a little, startled a little at the sound of Cassie’s voice before he lifted his head, offering her a small smile. “I’ve got some time” he noted “And with my parents, your papa and Nora downstairs watching the boys, I thought I’d come and check on my two favourite girls” he added warmly, his dark eyes drifting towards Luna who sat in Cassie’s arms, her blue eyes peeking up at him softly.

Cassie admired the doting smile on his face before she stepped towards him, lightly pressing a kiss against his cheek as she placed Luna into his arms. Sergio held the little girl close for a couple of seconds before he shifted his arm, gently pulling Cassie slightly closer before he pressed a soft kiss against her temple. “Are you still sure about tonight?” he mumbled quietly “I mean, I know I went on about it a lot, but if you’ve changed your mind…”

“I sort of want to go” Cassie interrupted quietly “It’s been a while since I’ve been at one of your games and I want to go. Besides, Noah’s all excited about going and my papa, Nora and your parents…they’ve all offered to help me out with the twins. I’m sure that I’ll be able to cope” she added, anticipating his next question. It was a trait of his, fretting about her and the children, and whilst Cassie found it sweet, she wanted to ease his mind, confident that things would be fine.

Sergio smiled a little before he squeezed her waist lightly, pressing another kiss against her temple. “I’m glad that you’ll be there” he mumbled softly, not wanting to disturb the little bubble which had settled over them.

“I wouldn’t miss it” Cassie replied softly, offering him a light smile.

Sergio flashed her another soft smile before he ducked his head, stealing a soft kiss. Cassie held onto him for a moment, enjoying the soft kiss before Luna let out a soft snuffle, causing her parents to pull apart slightly, watching as she let out a soft yawn. Sergio marveled at the soft yawn before he ducked down, pressing a soft kiss against her head.

“I think someone would like a nap before we head to the stadium” Cassie mumbled, trying not to disturb the moment.

Sergio nodded his head. “I think that that’s probably a good idea” he noted softly “And I have to get going anyways. I’ll see you later?” he posed, gently moving to settle Luna into her mother’s arms.

Cassie nodded her head softly. “Of course” she noted softly “Good luck, Sergio” she added warmly.

Sergio grinned lightly at her words before he ducked into her, sneaking a quick kiss before he ducked out of the room.

Shifting a little in her seat, Cassie carefully settled Noah down in her lap before she turned her attention back towards the pitch, watching as the teams made their way out for the start of extra time.

It had been a tense match, like most matches between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid, there had been very little between the two teams, and Cassie wasn’t surprised that the score had stood at 1-1 at the end of 90 minutes, even if she had been hoping for a winner, she hadn’t been overly surprised that neither time had managed to find one. It had been close, after Real had gone ahead through a Benzema goal, Atletico had been quick to equalize through a Diego Godin header, and still there was little to separate the two teams, something which had Cassie slightly anxious.

“Are you sure that you don’t want me to take him for a little while?”

Cassie, who was focused on the match, blinked a couple of times at the sound of Nora’s voice before she lifted her head. “Huh?” she posed.

“I could take Noah for a little while” Nora offered softly “You know, if you’d like me to” she added tentatively, offering the brunette a soft smile.

Cassie quietly mulled her offer over before she shook her head. “It’s Ok” she mused softly “I’m alright. Just a little nervous” she added, peeking back down towards pitch.

“Is this your team?” Nora posed softly, trying to make conversation. It was a little awkward, despite the fact that she and Cassie had met before, Nora still felt a little odd around her boyfriend’s daughter, and she wanted to make effort, knowing that it meant a lot to Alonso that the two of them got on.

Cassie shook her head. “It’s not” she noted gently “But I still want them to win” she added, a soft smile appearing at the corner of her mouth.

Nora admired the soft smile before she quirked one of her own, opting not to comment. It wasn’t the first time, whenever she saw Sergio and Cassie together, the brunette appeared to be grinning, and Nora had to admit that she found it sweet. The two of them were good together.

Cassie noted Nora’s smile before she shook her head, her cheeks flushing a soft shade of pink before she flicked her attention back towards the pitch, watching as Cristiano’s shot deflected wide. Stretching her legs out a little, she watched as Toni Kroos moved to lift the corner into the box, sweeping it over a few defenders before it reached Sergio who’d jumped to meet it, nodding it into the top corner. Blinking a couple of times, she watched as he sped away from the goal before she pushed herself up to her feet, cheering enthusiastically as a wide, proud grin appeared on her face.

“An extra-time winner?”

Sergio, who’d been posing for a picture with a couple of his teammates, smirked a little at the sound of Cassie’s voice before he turned around, stepping towards her slightly. “It was worth the wait, wasn’t it?” he teased impishly “I mean, I thought it was a pretty great goal and a great way to win the game” he added as he reached her, greeting Noah with a soft kiss on the top of his head.

Cassie scoffed playfully. “I’ve seen better” she noted with a nonchalant shrug.

Sergio snorted out a laugh before he shook his head, something which made Cassie giggle softly before she leant into him a little more, sneaking a brief kiss. “I’m proud of you” she mumbled quietly “I mean, this still isn’t my team, but I am happy for you” she added with an impish smile.

Sergio rolled his eyes softly before the sound of Alonso’s voice reached him, causing him to step away slightly, greeting his father-in-law and Oscar with an enthusiastic smile. Cassie shifted Noah softly on her hip, her eyes watching as Sergio moved to greet his parents and Luna, before she stepped towards him, lightly nudging his shoulder. “I think you ought to get out there” she added, motioning with her head towards the pitch where his teammates and their families had gathered.

Sergio blinked, slightly surprised by her voice, before he nodded his head. “We should” he quipped, stressing the word ‘we’.

Cassie lifted an eyebrow. “We?” she posed.

Sergio nodded. “I’ll need a hand” he noted “I mean, there are three of them” he added, offering her a smirk.

Cassie rolled her eyes playfully before she shook her head, opening her mouth to object, but Sergio was quicker, cutting her off. “Come on, Cass” he noted gently “It would mean a lot” he added, offering her a soft look that he was confident would win her around.

Cassie offered him a small look, wordlessly asking if it was what he wanted, before she let out a soft sigh, giving into him. Sergio grinned at the sound of her sigh before he stepped towards Alonso, gently taking Oscar out of his arms before he turned back to Cassie, offering his hand out towards her. Cassie, who’d moved to settle Noah onto his feet so that she could collect Luna, glared at his hand for a moment before she took it, knotting their fingers together.

Sergio squeezed her hand softly before he leant across slightly, kissing her cheek. “Next time” he mumbled softly “I’ll even get you to wear a Real Madrid shirt” he teased, causing Cassie to scoff.
