Somebody Like Me

“Are you sure that you don’t mind doing this?” Sergio asked as he looked over towards Fernando, his dark eyes settling on Noah who sat in the other man’s arms, his blue eyes scanning the room quietly. It had been a little while, after Noah had arrived, a little over a month had passed, and with the following morning away from training, Sergio had been keen to insist that he and Cassie take a night for themselves, something that they hadn’t done since the little boy had arrived.

He knew that it wasn’t a big deal, since Noah had arrived, he felt as though things between him and Cassie had been as good as they had ever been, but he knew that him making the effort meant a lot to her, even if he was sure that they didn’t have a thing to worry about. He knew that she wanted to take a little time for the two of them.

Fernando, who’d been quietly fussing over Noah, lifted his head a little at the sound of Sergio’s voice before he shook his head. “Of course not” he quipped “I mean, looking after your son was not exactly how I envisaged spending the night, but me and Olalla are more than happy to do it if you and Cassie need a little time. This is your first night out since Noah was born?” he posed curiously.

Sergio, who’d moved to sit down on the couch, nodded. “It is” he confirmed “But we shouldn’t be gone for too long. We’re only heading out to a restaurant that we both like” he added, moving to pull his shoes onto his feet. They didn’t have big plans, with it being the first time that both he and Cassie had left Noah, Sergio didn’t want to make a lot of plans, but he was still looking forwards to it, even if it was likely to be just a couple of hours out of the house, he was looking forwards to having his girlfriend to himself.

“You should still enjoy it” Fernando noted “I mean, I know that a lot of the last month has been about Noah, but it will be good for you and Cassie to have some time where you’re not being mama and papa, but boyfriend and girlfriend” he added with an encouraging smile.

Sergio nodded his head in agreement before the sound of footsteps on the stairs reached his ears, causing him to turn slightly, his dark eyes widening a little at the sight of Cassie as she stepped into the living room, a shy smile on her lips. Blinking a couple of times, he allowed his eyes to look her up and down before Fernando nudged him slightly. “Words, Sergio” he poked amusedly.

Sergio spared the striker a glare before he flicked his attention back towards Cassie, a soft smile appearing on his lips. “You look amazing, Cass” he murmured softly.

“You think so?” Cassie asked quietly, her hands tugging at the bottom of her dress which stopped in the middle of her thighs “Because I wasn’t so sure about the dress. We’ve still got a little time, I can go…”

“You look beautiful, Cassie” Sergio interrupted, his hands gently moving to take a hold of hers in order to stop her fussing “So beautiful” he added warmly.

Cassie’s cheeks warmed a little at the compliment, something which made Sergio’s smile widen a fraction.

“I am just going to leave the two of you to it”

Sergio, who’d been a little wrapped up in his exchange with Cassie, startled slightly at the sound of Fernando’s voice before he lifted his head, offering the striker a small nod. “Alright” he quipped “I did give you both of our numbers just in case, right?” he posed.

“You did” Fernando confirmed “And you gave me Noah’s nighttime itinerary. I am sure that it will be fine, Sergio” he added, offering the defender a reassuring grin.

“You’re sure that you don’t mind watching him, Fernando?” Cassie posed softly as she stepped towards him, pressing a soft kiss against the top of Noah’s head.

“Not at all” Fernando noted kindly “You two deserve a night off” he added warmly.

Cassie offered him a slightly dubious look, wordlessly asking if he was sure, before she nodded her head. “We’ll only be a couple of hours” she mused softly.

Fernando nodded his head. “Take your time” he quipped “I am sure that me and Olalla can cope with Noah, even if he is part Sergio” he added, sparing a playful look towards the defender who rolled his eyes. Fernando let out a soft laugh before he ducked out of the room, leaving Cassie and Sergio alone.

“Are you ready to get out of here?” Sergio posed softly “I mean, I know that Noah’s with Fernando for a little while, but we could still stay in” he offered gently.

Cassie spared him a look before she shook her head. “I did not put this dress on to stay in tonight, senor” she quipped, a playful smile on her lips.

Sergio spared an amused laugh before he reached his hand out, gently taking a hold of hers before he moved to lead her out of the room, looking forwards to the night which stood ahead of them.

“You know, I am pretty sure that you can go more than five minutes without looking at your phone”

Cassie, who’d been looking down towards the screen of her phone, jumped a little at the sound of Sergio’s voice before she lifted her head, not missing the small smirk which played at the corner of his mouth. It had been a good night, despite Cassie having been a little preoccupied with her phone, she and Sergio had enjoyed a wonderful night, and Cassie was pleased that they’d done it, even if it had felt a little odd being away from Noah. She was glad that they had taken a little time for themselves.

“I probably could” she replied “But I am probably going to keep checking it until we get to Fernando’s and I have Noah back in my arms” she added, poking her tongue out slightly.

Sergio scoffed playfully before he shook his head. “We can go if you want to” he offered gently “I mean, I can get the check and we can go and get Noah if that’s what you want to do” he added, his voice warm and soft.

Cassie smiled a little at the tone of his voice before she shook her head, her hand gently moving to take a hold of his which messed with the fork which sat on his plate. “We don’t have to go right now” she mused softly “I don’t know about you, but I am kind of enjoying myself” she added.

“It has been a pretty nice” Sergio agreed softly “Don’t get me wrong, I love spending time with Noah, but it has been pretty nice to have a little time for us” he added, his hand gently squeezing hers.

Cassie nodded her head in agreement before she tugged her hand back, moving to collect the dessert menu which sat on the table at her side. Sergio watched her, his dark eyes marveling at her, before the sound of a seat at the table beside him being pulled out reached his ears, causing him to lift his head slightly, his dark eyes widening a little at the sight of the woman who’d moved to sit down. “Pilar” he squeaked.

Cassie, who’d been perusing the menu, flinched at the sound of the other woman’s name before she lifted her head, her eyes settling on the brunette who sat a small distance away from her boyfriend, a sheepish expression on her face. Blinking a couple of times, Cassie shifted a little in her seat before she spared a slight glance towards Sergio, not quite sure what to do.
