Somebody Like Me

Ninety Two: We’re Pretty Good At This

Wrinkling his nose slightly, Sergio tossed onto his side, trying to shield his eyes from the sunlight which trickled into the bedroom through half-open curtains. It was early, one look around the room confided that it was too early for the defender, but he doubted that he would be able to fall back to sleep, even if he had intended to spend a while curled up beside his new wife, he doubted that he would be able to get back to sleep. Letting out a quiet sigh, he carefully turned onto his other side, his dark eyes settling on Cassie who was still curled up beside him, her soft and even breaths filling the air.

Watching her for a second, he quirked a soft smile before he carefully shuffled towards her, pressing a soft kiss against the top of her head. He didn’t want to disturb her, after the day that they had had the day previous, he doubted that she wanted to be disturb too early, but he couldn’t resist the opportunity to press a soft kiss to her head, even if he did run the risk of waking her up, he couldn’t seem to stop himself. Watching her for another moment, he ensured that he’d not woken her before he carefully moved to push himself up to his feet, quietly padding over towards the suitcase which sat a little away from the bed.

Sparing a light yawn into his hand, he quietly pulled out a clean t-shirt before the sound of movement reached his ears, causing him to turn slightly, smiling at Cassie who peeked up at him sleepily. “Why are you awake?” he asked softly “I was quiet and everything” he added playfully.

Cassie offered him a small sleepy smile before she shook her head. “You’re not happy to see me?” she posed, sparing a small yawn into her hand.

Sergio, who’d moved to sit down on the side of the bed, snorted playfully before he shook his head. “Of course I am” he mused softly “But, we had a pretty long day yesterday and I figured that you’d probably appreciate the opportunity to lay in for a little while. Noah’s with your papa and when we left last night, he told me to tell you that there was no rush to get back. He loves spending time with his grandson” he added softly, his fingers lightly brushing her dark hair off of her face.

“My papa said that?” Cassie posed softly.

“He did” Sergio confirmed softly “And I think we should take him up on his offer. It’s been hectic few days, Cass, and I think we should take the morning just to relax” he added gently. It had been a busy few days, with the wedding, things had been hectic for a little while, and Sergio wanted to make the most of the opportunity to relax for a little while, even if they did eventually have to get back to Noah. He wanted to encourage Cassie to relax for a little while.

Cassie, who’d moved to pull her hair up into a ponytail, mulled his words over for a couple of seconds before she quirked a small smile. “A quiet morning does sound pretty good” she mused softly “I mean, don’t get me wrong, I’ve loved the last few days, but the idea of sitting here with nothing to do does sound pretty amazing” she added gently.

Sergio quirked a small smile at her words before he leant into her, sneaking a quick kiss. “I’ll go and find the breakfast menu, Mrs Ramos” he quipped cheekily.

Cassie’s cheeks warmed a little at his words, something which caused Sergio’s grin to widen slightly before he ducked into her, sneaking another soft kiss before he stepped away, moving to find the room service menu. Cassie watched him go for a moment before she quietly shook her head, trying to stifle the smile which itched to spread across her features. She knew that it wasn’t going to last forever, eventually, the novelty of being newly married would wear off, but she was keen to make the most of it, wanting to enjoy it whilst it lasted.

Allowing a soft yawn to fall out of his mouth, Sergio shifted his weight slightly, trying to get himself comfortable without disturbing Cassie who was curled up against him, her soft snores filling the air. It had been a quiet morning, after they’d ordered breakfast, they’d settle in to watch a film, but Sergio wasn’t entirely surprised that Cassie had fallen asleep halfway through it, even if she hadn’t been awake for very long, he knew that the previous day had taken its toll on her.

Ensuring that he’d not disturbed her, he carefully shuffled away from her slightly before his eyes landed on her bump, something which made him smile softly. It was obvious, with Cassie heading towards being 5 months pregnant, the bump on her stomach was hard to miss, but still she tried to it hide slightly, something which meant that opportunities to see it clearly came few and far between for Sergio. Pausing for a second, he admired the bump quietly before he lightly shuffled down the bed, lightly brushing the material of the shirt of his that she wore away from it. Smiling, he lightly brushed his thumb over the bump before he leant down, pressing two distinct kisses against the warm skin.

“It’s been a little while since you’ve done this”

Sergio, who’d been preoccupied with fussing over her bump, jumped a little at the sound of her voice before he lifted his head, offering her a small boyish grin. “It has been a while” he mused softly “But, for the next few months, it is something that I am likely to do a lot more. The wedding is out of the way now and that means our attention is going to shift onto these two and their arrival” he added gently, his thumb still lightly brushing against her stomach.

Cassie watched the small movements of his thumb for a couple of seconds before she quietly shook her head. “They’ll be here before we know it” she mused softly “I mean, I’m over half way through now and that means they’re going to be here before too long” she added, her voice soft and shy.

Sergio noted the slight nervousness in her voice before he gently ducked down, pressing two more kisses against her bump. “Are you worrying already?” he posed, offering her a playful smile.

Cassie shrugged. “It’s going to be pretty hectic” she mused softly “I mean, between Noah and the twins, it’s going to be pretty busy and I guess…”

“It will be a lot” Sergio interrupted softly “Of course it will be, but Cassie, I’m pretty sure that we’ll figure it out. We always do” he added, a warm smile on his face.

“You think so?” Cassie posed lightly.

Sergio, who’d moved to shuffle up at the bed slightly, quirked a small smile at her words before he ducked into her, stealing a couple of light kisses. “We’re pretty good at this, Cass” he mused softly “I mean, we’ve had our moments, but this…it works, and, if I have my way, it’s not going to stop working any time soon. We’re good now, nena, and once these two come along, we’ll still be good. I promise you” he insisted between soft and light kisses. He knew that she was worried, the look on her face was one which he knew well, but he wanted to reassure her. He wasn’t going to let things get away from them easily.

Cassie leant into him slightly, enjoying their embrace, before she quietly shook her head. “I’m sorry” she murmured softly “I mean, it’s only been a day…”

“It’s fine, Cass” Sergio interrupted softly “I want to talk to me about your worries, but right now, there’s nothing to be concerned about. Noah’s great, we’re just married, and in a couple of months, we’re going to have two adorable new babies. Things are pretty great, nena” he added, offering her hand a light squeeze.

Cassie’s cheeks warmed slightly before she nodded her head, wordlessly agreeing that things between them were more than good.
