The Story of Erin and Andy (Samberg)

Chapter 6

They drove to the airport and flew to California to see Andy's parents. When they landed Andy drove them to his parent's house. It was 9:00 ES, but it was 6:00 on the pacific coast.

Andy's mom met them at the door.

'Hi Erin, I'm Andy's mom. Nice to meet you.' She said.

'Nice to meet you too.' Erin said.

'Come inside, won't you?' She said inviting them inside.

'You're just in time for dinner.' She said.

'We actually had dinner at Erin's mom's house,' Andy said. 'But that was three hours ago.'

After eating second dinner they went to bed. The next day Andy showed Erin around his old neighborhood. Then they walked on the beach and watched the sunset.

'Erin, I know we've only been dating for 7 months, but I feel that this is the right time to do this.' Andy said and then he got on one knee and proposed to her.

'Yes!' Erin said. 'Yes of course I'll marry you, I love you!'

When Andy told his mom she was ecstatic.

'Oh my God!!!' She screamed. 'George! Georgey your son is getting married!'

'What?' His dad called down the hallway. 'Andy? Is getting married? I got to see this. What was it, one of those mail order brides?' He entered the room.

'No, I'm not.' Erin said smiling.

'Well, Andy, congratulations.' George said.

Erin flew back to NJ for Christmas with her moms.

'Guess what?' She said when she arrived. She showed them her hand with the sparkling diamond ring residing on her left ring finger.

'Oh my God!' Kira screamed. 'That nice little boy is going to marry you! Amanda, do you see the size of that diamond?'

'When's the wedding?' Amanda asked.

'I don't know, May?' Erin suggested.

'May is a beautiful month.' Kira said. 'Where are you going to get married? Here or out in California?'

'I don't know!' Erin said.

The next day Erin was sitting in her room thinking about everything that had happened. She decided to call Bill and tell him.

'Hi.' She said.

'Hi, how are you?' Bill asked.

'Absolutely wonderful! Guess what?' Erin said. 'I'm getting married!'

'You and Andy are getting married!' Bill said. 'But, you're only 18!'

'I know, and Andy's 30, but that doesn't make a difference.

'Well, congratulations and have a merry Christmas.'

'And the same to you.'

On Christmas Erin decided to call Andy, even though he is Jewish.

'Merry Christmas!' She said.

'I can't believe we're getting married.' Andy said.

'Um, my mom decided we're getting married in May. And she wants to meet your family.'

'May is nice. My parents wanted to meet your moms too. They were thinking of flying back with me.'

'Cool. Are they okay with, you know, my moms being gay?'

'Yeah, yeah it's cool with them.'

'Good, I wouldn't want any awkwardness.'

'Um, it's actually like 5:00 in the morning, can I call you back?'

'Yeah, of course, sorry.'

Andy and his parents arrived on the 27th. They decided to stay at Erin's mom's house in NJ, they have a three story, 5 bedroom, 4 bath Victorian house in a suburb 15 minutes from NYC. They began planning the wedding right away; they "only" had 5 months to plan it.

Over the next few months, Erin and Andy's lives were filled with wedding dresses, bridesmaids dresses, wedding cakes, flower arrangements and more. They chose the date of May 15th for their wedding. Erin was choosing a wedding dress one afternoon in March.

'Would you like it to be white or cream?' The lady asked.

'White, I already told you.' Erin said. 'White, strapless, I have a picture.' Erin handed her a picture of the dress she wanted. Then she went to the florist to pick out her bouquet.

'I would like white roses.' She said.

'How many?'

'10.' Erin replied.

The rest of the month and into May consisted of decisions like this. The wedding party had been picked and they decided they would get married in New York and have their honeymoon in California.

Their rehearsal dinner went well and the church was decorated beautifully. There were white roses everywhere. The day of the wedding, Erin was really nervous. She got dressed and waited for the music to start. The bridesmaids walked down the aisle and then the doors opened and Erin, escorted by her mom, appeared in the doorway.

When Erin saw Andy at the altar, dressed in white like the groomsmen, she knew she was making the right decision. She walked slowly down the aisle. At the altar, she and Andy faced each other as the minister performed the ceremony. At the end, when she and Andy kissed, it was unreal, magical. Flower petals fell from the ceiling. They walked back down the aisle, as husband and wife, and were escorted into a white limousine.

The reception was huge and ended at around 3:00 AM. Andy and Erin flew out to California and spent a few days there. They had to be back to New York for the last show of the season. They would continue their honeymoon in Europe the next week.

The last show was awesome; Lydia and Arthur had an awesome scene. The following week Erin was studying for her finals, she graduated on Friday. That Friday she prepared the walk down another kind of aisle, this time she would be wearing a cap and gown instead of a wedding dress. When they called her name to receive her diploma, they said 'Erin Samberg', it was awesome.

She and Andy left after her graduation for Europe. First they went to England, then to France, Germany, and lastly, Italy. In Germany they went to a bar, you could drink at age 18 in Europe. They were having a comedy night at the bar and Erin suggested that Andy do it.

'I don't speak German.' He said.

'I can translate for you.' Erin said.

'You speak German?' He asked.

'I learned in school.' Erin replied with a casual shrug. 'Come on, let's go sign up.'

About half an hour later Andy and Erin were up on stage, Erin translating from English into German.

'That was so much fun.' Andy said as they returned to their hotel room.

'Yeah.' Erin said as they walked onto their balcony and looked over the village below.

'Um, I was wondering if you wanted to,' Andy said, 'Um, well I was just noticing we've been married for about two weeks and we haven't, you know, um-'

'Had sex?' Erin finished his sentence.

'Yeah, and if you aren't ready or what ever, which is fine, but I was just curious as to when, um-'

'I thought losing my virginity in Paris would be romantic, if you don't mind.' Erin said shyly. 'I guess I'm going to have to resign from my position as President of the Virginity Club.'

'Oh, yeah that's cool, Paris is awesome.' Andy replied.

Andy and Erin left for Paris in two days and did just as they had planned. The next day they went sight seeing; they went to Notre Dame, L'Arc de Triumph, Le Tour Eiffel and other places. Next they went on to Italy where they took part in many wine tasting parties. After Italy they returned to New York. Erin moved into Andy's apartment, and she would be going to college in the fall.

Around the 15th of July, Erin realized she was pregnant. She didn't know how to tell Andy, she wasn't sure if she was ready for this. She found Andy in his office responding to and e-mail about a movie.

'Andy?' She said.

'Yes?' He answered turning around.

'Can I talk to you?' She said sitting down on an office chair, she rolled it over next to Andy.

'Is everything alright?' Andy said.

'Well, yeah, kind of. I don't know.' Erin said. 'Remember, a long time ago, like a year ago, we were talking about Bill and his wife having a baby. You said you didn't want to be 40 when you had kids?'

'Yeah, but I didn't mean anything, I-' Andy started.

'Would 31 be better than 40?' Erin asked, smiling uneasily.

'What do you mean, are,' He paused. 'Are you pregnant?'

Erin nodded. 'I think so.' She was practically in tears, not sure if they were tears of joy or fear.

'That, that's awesome.' Andy said. 'We should go to a doctor or something, I'm not sure what you're supposed to do when you're pregnant.'

The next day they went to the doctor and she confirmed that Erin was pregnant and would probably be due in April. She said to come back in a few months for an ultrasound.

After calling her moms, who were ecstatic, Erin called Bill. Somehow, he had filled that empty void left by her father. Not in a weird way, but he was that older male presence her life lacked.

'Hi.' She said, not sure how she'd say this.

'I have awesome news for you.' Bill said.

'No, me first.' Erin insisted.

'We'll say it at the same time.' Bill suggested.

'Okay, one, two, three, I'm pregnant!'

'Martha's pregnant!' Bill said. 'What did you say?'

'I'm pregnant. That's so cool, our children will be born around the same time!' Erin said.

'But you're only 18.' He said wistfully.

'I know, it wasn't something we planned, but oh well! It'll be fun!'

In August, Erin and Andy went to the doctor again and she did an ultrasound.

'Well, they're really small now, but you can kind of make them out.'

'Them?' Erin asked.

'Yes, I do believe you're having twins.' The doctor said smiling.

Erin looked at Andy and found that he had the exact same look of horror on his face.

Erin called Bill again.

'We're having twins.' Erin said.

'Wow, that's exciting.' Bill said.

'Not really. I have to go to college, I'm probably going to have to take my second semester off.'

In September Erin and Andy were invited to Daniel's first birthday. They went and it was pretty small, just Bill, Martha, Andy and Erin and a few others.

'Would you like to see him? He's sleeping now.' Martha said and led them upstairs. They walked into the nursery 'Would you like to hold him?' Martha asked Erin.

Erin walked over to him and looked at him. She leaned over, as if to pick him up, but stood up again. 'He looks fine where he is now, I think he's sleeping or something.' She said walking away.

'That's okay, we can wake him up.' Martha said picking him up. 'You can hold him if you want to.'

'No, that's okay.' Erin said.

'Okay, Andy do you want to?' She asked Andy.

'Sure.' He said, taking Daniel.

After Erin and Andy left, Martha talked to Bill.

'I'm not sure she's ready to have kids.' Martha said.

'What do you mean?' Bill asked.

'Did you see the way she was looking at Daniel?' Martha said. 'And she didn't want to hold him? I'm worried.'

'I'm sure she'll be fine.' Bill said, but he wasn't sure.

Erin started college in early September and went back to work in October. When she told everyone there about the twins, they were all very happy for her and Andy. Lorne said she could take some time off if she wanted, but she insisted on working until the day that they were born. it kept her mind busy.

And she did. She was in a skit on April 6, two weeks before she was due. She was playing a pregnant singer named Linda on "Deep House Dish" when her water broke

She was the last singer and she had just gotten done singing and sat down next to Dynasty Handbag (Kenan Thompson).

'So Linda, I heard you're having twins.' Dynasty asked her.

'I am.' She replied.

'Who's the father?' Dynasty asked her.

Linda pointed to T-Shane (Andy).

'Really?' Dynasty said looking at T-Shane. 'How did this happen?'

'Well,' T-Shane started. 'We met at this funeral and-'

Suddenly Erin felt the couch around her get wet.

'I think my water just broke!' She said, staying in character. 'T-Shane! Take me to the hospital!'

Andy ran to her, remaining T-Shane, saying, 'Oh my God! Linda, we'd better get to the hospital!'

'I know, I just said that!' Linda yelled at him.

They ran off together and the show went to a commercial.

Erin turned to the audience and said, 'This was not supposed to happen!' They laughed and she and Andy, still in costume, ran off to the hospital.

When they arrived, the doctors were staring at them. Andy looked down at his clothes and said, 'Oh, I forgot to change!' They ran into the delivery room and Erin gave birth to two identical twins in about half an hour.

Andy was holding one and Erin held the other. 'The first image of his parent is going to be of Linda and T-Shane.' Andy joked.

'Yeah, am I still in that dress?' Erin asked.

'Yeah, they didn't have time to get you out of it.' Andy said.

'Wow, if we had waited any longer at the set I would have given birth there.' They both laughed.

'What should we name them?' Andy asked.

'Shane, after T-Shane.' Erin said.

'Hi Shane.' Andy said to his son. 'What about the other one?' He said.

'I don't know.' Erin said looking down at her son. After she thought for awhile she said, 'Brady.'

'Brady, I like that.' Andy said. 'Shane Samberg, Brady Samberg. Now we need middle names. How about George, for Brady; Brady George Samberg.'

'I like that.' Erin said. 'What should Shane's middle name be?'

'Robert.' Andy suggested.

'I like Robert,' Erin said. 'Shane Robert Samberg. Where's the doctor? I want to know which one was born first.'

The doctor walked in.

'Doctor, which one was born first?' Erin asked.

'Actually, the one you are holding was born yesterday, about 5 minutes before twelve. The other followed within ten minutes.'

'So they're born on different days?' Andy asked.

'Yes. I'll go get the forms for you to fill out, you have chosen names, haven't you?'

'Yes.' Erin said as the doctor left. 'We should get our picture, in costume, then next week we'll have Linda on "Deep House Dish" and T-Shane and her will show Dynasty the picture.'

'Yeah, that's awesome.' Andy said. They got someone to take their picture.

Andy went back to SNL after the show, Erin wanted to go but couldn't. He brought them pictures and everyone thought it was so awesome. Erin was at work by Thursday and she wrote the scene with her and T-Shane.

Saturday night was exciting. Her scene started as usual.

Dynasty Handbag started the show and introduced T-Shane.

"Dynasty, Linda and I have two kids now!"

"Wow, T-Shane." Dynasty said. "What did you name them?"

"Fantastic and Awesome!" T-Shane said.

"Those are very interesting names T-Shane."

"Thank you, Linda thought of them."

"How is she doing?"

"Great, she's here if you want to talk to her."

Linda ran on stage and fell onto T-Shane's lap. The crowed erupted in applause.

"Hi Dynasty." She said.

"Hi Linda, you recovered quickly." Dynasty asked.

"Yes, I did." Linda said. "I brought a picture."

The picture of them at the hospital was shown and the audience "awwed".

"Very nice," Dynasty said. "Are you holding Fantastic?"

"Dude, that's Awesome." Linda said.

"No, that's Fantastic." T-Shane said.

"No, it's definitely Awesome."

"It's so obviously Fantastic."

"Oh, I guess it is Fantastic." Linda said. "They look too much alike." She added laughing.

"Well that's all the time we have today for 'Deep House Dish'. I'll see you next time."

"Dude, that is so Awesome." Linda continued arguing.

"No, it's Fantastic!" T-Shane said. They continued to argue as the show ended.

Backstage Erin talked to Bill.

'We want you to be their godfather.' Erin said.

'Really?' Bill said. 'That's so awesome.'

'How's Martha doing?' Erin asked.

'Pretty good, she has about a week left, but it could happen any time.' Bill said.

'I bet you're nervous.' She said.

'Yeah, but not as nervous as you and Andy must have been.' Bill said. 'You were on live television.'

'It actually wasn't that hard, I just pretended to be Linda.'

'Martha was watching, she called me and told me you and Andy were crazy.'

'I guess we kind of were.' Erin laughed.

Martha had their second child, a girl, the next afternoon. They named her Sara.

Erin took a semester off from college. She continued to work at SNL as well as write two movies. She and Andy worked on revising "Pink Unicorns" and making it into a real movie. Bill was going to play Jim and Erin wrote a new character for Andy. He would play Betty's (played by Erin) boyfriend, Alex. It was going to be directed by Akiva. It was hard to cast Makayla and Laura, but Lucy was easy, Amy. Kristin would play Makayla, and Laura was played by Erin's friend from FEL and the original Laura, Jasmine.

This was Erin's first film. She was excited, but nervous that it wouldn't go the way she thought it would. She showed the cast the original "Pink Unicorns" and they thought it was funny.

They started filming. Everything was going well, except Makayla and Laura didn't have the chemistry they were intended to have. Erin had originally written it to be played by her two best friends. They had to change some things. Kristen was changed to the role of Margaret, witnesses' number one and three, and Lucy's grandmother. Witness number two was played by Jorm. Jason and Fred from SNL also had cameos as Mr. Robertson and Mr. White.

She found the original Makayla, and asked her to be in the film. After some persuasion, she agreed. Filming started again and everything went well. The movie premiered on May first 2011 and it was a hit. Many people thought it was funny and it gained them international recognition. It was translated into twenty different languages and sold throughout Europe and Asia. It eventually won an Oscar for best comedy. Erin was very funny when she accepted her award, since she hadn't expected to win, so she didn't prepare anything. She was only 22 and she was married, she had twins, and she had an Oscar.

She was content.
