Bring Me Your Love Tonight

Prologue

The Walker residence was nothing short of magnificent. There where beautiful coloured gardens surrounded by overly ornate and extravagant fountains, white pebble paths next to shocking green lawns, but it was the home itself that was the real beauty, breath taking. The pearly white structure stood two stories tall, with marble pillars on either side of the large wooden carved doors, and the windows were framed with blue curtains, decorated with lace. The head of the Walker family had it built for his young wife during the first year of their marriage, and built it to her specifications, for it would be where they would raise their four sons and only daughter. The only other house in town that could rival its beauty was sat on the far side of the lake, though still visible from the southern windows; the Way family Manor.

The Way family. significantly smaller than the Walker family with just 2 sons, lived in their own beautiful home, filled with rooms barely used, but rather to impress upon guess the depths of their own wealth. They were indeed the wealthiest of the families within the town, with more servants than inhabitants of the house, and still more wealthy than even some of the most fortunate families in New Jersey. While the Walker family fortune was easily explicable by the family business, the Way family money was more of a mystery to anyone outside the family, which made the Way brothers mysterious and appealing the woman of the town hoping to be fortunate enough to marry into their wealth.

Neither the Walker nor the Way family were extremely fond of the other. It was not that they did not get along with each other; rather, when they met each other in the streets they were more than cordial. The truth of the matter was that the only daughter of the Walker family, Constance, had refused a marriage proposal from the youngest Way, Michael, on more than one occasion.

Michael was a perfectly fine suitor for Constance. He was a perfect suitor for anyone. He had money that could supply a woman with more than she needed for her entire life, not that Constance need such security; her family was generously wealthy. He was smart, well mannered, and anyone would agree, quite agreeable to look at. He was tall and slender, with beautiful and piercing eyes, and a perfect sharp nose to compliment his brow and cheeks.

The same went for Constance. She was a sight to behold on her off days, and on any other day, she was painfully gorgeous. Girls hated her on principal. Her curly, chocolate brown hair cascaded perfectly over her sculpted collarbone and around her angular face, a piece of hair never was astray. Long, thick lashes framed her electric green eyes. She had cheekbones set so perfectly, pale skin slightly rouged on her cheeks, and beautiful pink lips, she looked like a walking porcelain doll. There was not a man that did not long to have her, and not a single female that did not wish to be her.

It was behind closed doors where the true feelings of the other family were revealed. The Ways believed Constance and her family, four other brothers and her mother and father, to be prudish, rude, and dishonest. Donald and Donna Way believed that Constance would not marry their son because they were selfish, and that she believed herself to good for their beloved son. Michael was not deterred, however. He would stop at nothing to take Constance for his wife, no matter how hard he had to work at it. His parents had given up on trying to do otherwise, but they believed Constance unworthy of their son, despite her family wealth and upbringing.

Constance’s father and mother, Cuthbert and Adelaide Walker, had no understanding of why their only daughter would not marry Michael Way. Being the youngest of her family, and the only daughter, they knew the importance for her to marry well, as she would not inherit the family estate. Nor were they too worried that their beautiful daughter would have trouble finding such a suit, or someone agreeable to marry. But Michael Way was more than suitable. He came from one of the most respected, albeit slightly mysterious families in the country, he was handsome, a pleasant fellow, and he promised her a fabulous lifestyle. What more could they hope for their daughter? However, if she was not happy with him as a suitor, then they would not question her decision, at least not to herself directly. Besides, none of their four sons believed Michael to be acceptable for Constance either.

To anyone outside the two families, there was no reason for Constance not to be with Michael Way. They were perfect for each other, and would be the envy of society wherever they went and whenever they were talked about it. The people who knew, which was almost everyone, could find no apparent reason for the two not to be together. But there was a reason, a major reason, that Constance, from the age of 15 continuously refused Michael’s offers of marriage, and that reason's name was Gerard, the older brother of Michael.
