Steal My Heart

Cristiano stared at the white door from the safety of his car, he didn't know why he came here today, he will probably make things worse but he had to do something. Lily had been a little down since her birthday a few days ago, she would rarely smile or laugh at one of his bad jokes like she usually did, in fact all she did these days was frown and bark orders at him which frightened him a little, he was not used to this unhappy Lily.

Cristiano totally got why Lily was a little sad, everyone had forgotten her birthday even her best friend, and as far as he knew no one had been in touch with her, which was why he found himself sat outside Lily's parents house with Ricky, it had taken a couple of days to get Lily's parents address from his agent, Jorge had been reluctant to give him the address warning Cristiano that it could all backfire on him, but he didn't care he wanted to do something nice for Lily.

" Are you really going to do this?" Ricky asked, his face telling Cristiano that this was not a very good idea. " What will you do if they don't want to talk to you?" Ricky asked, throwing another question at the impatient footballer.

Cristiano looked away from the door and sighed quietly " I need to try, Have you not noticed how quiet Lily has been lately?" he mumbled.

" That might not have anything to do with her parents" Ricky replied with a small smile " There could be a million reasons why Lily is not her usual self" he added.

Cristiano glanced at the white door again " Lily is upset because everyone forgot her birthday" he said, going to open the car door. " I am just here to remind them they do actually have a daughter who cares" he smiled.

" This could backfire on you Cris, Her family really isn't your concern at the moment, they are not your problem" Ricky sighed, hoping Cristiano would listen to him.

Cristiano just gave Ricky a smug smile as he went to climb out of the car " They may not be my problem right now, but they will be eventually" he replied.

Ricky's eyes filled with surprise not sure what to say " So you want to be with Lily?" he asked a little doubt creeping into his voice " I thought you wanted to be single for a while" he said.

" I am doing this, so quit trying to talk me out of it" Cristiano replied stubbornly " I know what I want, but I am just taking baby steps right now, there is no point trying to rush things, especially if it all crashes and burns" he smiled, climbing out of the car.

Ricky went to open his door but Cristiano shook his head " I think it would be best if I went in alone" Cristiano mumbled " I shouldn't be too long" he smiled, not sure if he was doing the right thing now.

" Good luck" Ricky called out, hoping that things went okay for Cristano, but he couldn't help but feel that everything would backfire on Cristiano, especially when Lily finds out what he had done.

Cristiano paused slightly as he stood on the doorstep, a little doubt creeping into his body, maybe he had been too rash coming to Lily's parents house, maybe he should heed' Ricky's words and leave things alone, just as he was talking himself out of knocking on the door, it opened to reveal a small brown haired woman who looks so much like Lily, she had the same smile.

" I was wondering when you were going to knock" the woman smiled politely. " I have been watching you on the doorstep for the last few minutes" she added a little awkwardly.

Cristiano smiled a little at the woman rambling, Lily did that when she was nervous " Hi, I am Cristiano" he said, holding his hand out for her to take.

" Mary who was at the door?"

Cristiano looked over Mary's shoulder to see a older man walking towards them and he didn't look all that impressed to see him standing on their doorstep.

" Cristiano has come to see us" Mary said quietly stepping a little to the left to allow her husband to get a full view of Cristiano " The footballer" she rambled again.

Matthew glared at the footballer stood outside his house " I know who he is" he snapped at his wife " What I want to know is why is he here?" he asked, his cold eyes still on Cristiano.

" I would like to have a word with you" Cristiano answered " I promise I won't take up much of your time, I am just here to talk about Lily" he added, a polite smile on his face.

Mary looked towards her husband, he just shrugged his shoulders and walked away " You better come in then" she said gently, hoping her husband would behave himself.

Cristiano smiled at Mary as he followed her into the house, closing the door quietly behind himself, he was suddenly feeling nervous and he never got nervous, which made him think, that coming here today was not his best idea ever.

" Would you like a drink?" Mary asked,as they all sat down in the living room, ignoring the grunt that came from Matthew's direction.

Cristiano shook his head " No I am good thanks" he replied, glancing around the room, to see if there was any pictures of Lily but he couldn't see a single picture.

" Okay so what do you want?" Matthew asked, just wanting the footballer gone, he would be so disappointed in Lily if she ever got with him, he had taught her better.

Cristiano was a little taken back by the coldness in Matthew's voice " I was wanting to talk about Lily and the fact you all seemed to have forgotten her birthday" he replied " She was really upset that not one of you picked up a phone to call her" he added.

A little guilt crossed Marys face but Matthew just sat there no emotion on his face at all " Does Lily know you are here?" Mary asked.

" No, she probably would go crazy at me if she knew, but I just wanted to meet the family that don't seem to give a shit about their daughter" Cristiano smiled coldly. " Would it have killed you to show her a little affection on her birthday?" he asked.

Matthew glared at Cristiano " How dare you talk to us like that" he muttered angrily " You have no idea about our family or Lily, you have only been in her life five minutes" he spluttered.

" Maybe i don't, but I care about your daughter and don't like it when she is upset" Cristiano replied, meeting's Matthew gaze.

Matthew smiled sarcastically at Cristiano " You will only care about her until the next girl comes along, I ,know all about your reputation Ronaldo" he sneered.

" I didn't come here to talk about my reputation, I came to talk about how you treat your daughter" Cristiano said, his voice rising slightly.

Mary glanced at her husband before she spoke " What do you want from us?" she asked, knowing that they were in the wrong, they rarely ever made an effort with Lily, she didn't know why things were so bad, just that they were and it didn't look like it was going to change anytime soon.

" I want you to be nicer to Lily, spend time with her because somehow you have raised a great woman and she deserves to have a family" Cristiano answered " If you can't be nice to her or make an effort then you won't be a part of her life" he warned gently.

Matthew opened and closed his mouth too angry to say anything which just left Mary who didn't know who to side with " You're right we need to change" she smiled weakly " We haven't been the parents Lily deserved" she added, while glancing at Matthew again.

" Do you love my daughter?" Matthew asked, already fearing that answer, he didn't want Lily to end up with Cristiano.

Cristiano just smiled not saying anything because the first person that should be told was Lily and not her father and he was not ready for the L word yet. " I really like your daughter and I can see it eventually going somewhere and I want you guys to be a part of that" he smiled.

" How can we make it up to her?" Mary asked, her eyes filled with doubt " Will she even want to see us?" she mumbled.

Cristiano sighed a little as he pulled his phone out of his pocket " I have planed a belated birthday dinner at this restaurant for tomorrow night, you are more than welcome to join us, I know Lily would like you to be there" he said quietly, scribbling his number down on a bit of paper and also the name of the restaurant.

" We will be there" Mary said, ignoring the loud groan coming from Matthew.

Cristiano smiled at Mary glad that he was getting through to at least one of Lily's parents, he slowly got to his feet " Well I guess we will see you tomorrow night" he replied, as Mary showed him out.

" I am glad my daughter has you fighting her corner" Mary said, as she pulled the door open, "You will be good for her" she added with a small smile.

Cristiano laughed gently it should be the other way around, Lily would be good for him " Please make sure you come tomorrow, I have already seen her disappointed once this week, lets not try for another" he pleaded quietly.

" We will be there" Mary smiled.

Cristiano just nodded his head and stepped out of the house, glad that meeting with Lily's parents had gone better than expected, he just hoped it didn't backfire on him, he was only doing what he thought was right and If Lily was going to be angry about it, it would be worth it if her parents actually stepped up for her.

Lily frowned as she walked into the gym, Cristiano was not at training, he wasn't at home or with Jorge or Hugo, so she was confused on where he could be, the obvious answer is he could be with a girl, shaking that thought from her head straight away, he promised her no more girls and she was going to have to trust him.

" Are you looking for my brother?"

Lily turned around saw Elma walking towards her, she hadn't had much interaction with Cristiano's sister she had gotten the impression the older woman didn't like her all that much.

" Yeah but he doesn't seem to be around" Lily replied, with a unsure smile.

Elma smiled at Lily, she hadn't paid much attention to the girl her brother was slowly falling for, but she wanted to make up for her rudeness which is why when her brother asked her to take Lily out for the day she had said yes straight away, she just needed to get Lily to agree to come shopping with her.

" Cris has had something come up unexpectedly, so he won't be back for while" Elma smiled.

Lily was slightly curious but said nothing knowing it could be entirely innocent so she went to walk away but Elma reached for her arm and tugged her back a little.

" I was wondering if you would like to spend the day with me and Katia?" Elma asked.

Lily raised her brow at Elma a guarded look on her face " You want to spend the day with me?" she asked shyly.

" It would be nice to get to know you better seeing as you will be sticking around for a while" Elma smiled. " You don't have to say yes if you don't want too, I just thought it would be nice to hang out and get to know each other better" Elma added, spotting the uncertain look on Lily's face.

Lily smiled warmly at Cristiano's sister " I would like that too" she replied, looking at her watch it was still early she could see Cristiano later " Lets go out" she added, following Elma out the house to where Katia was waiting for them.

" That dress looks good on you" Katia smiled, as she admired the dress that Lily had tried on.

Lily smiled politely back at Katia before she looked back at herself in the mirror, smoothing the dress down a little, she had to admit the dress was lovely, and clearly the winner out of the ones she had tried on before this dress.

" Its very nice" Lily replied taking a step back from the mirror " Just a shame its out of my price range" she added, stepping back into the changing room to get changed.

Elma and Katia shared a knowing look, they were under strict instructions from Cristiano to make sure Lily had a nice day out and to buy her any dress she had wanted.They just couldn't let Lily know because their brother knew she would just put up such a fight.

Lily stepped out of the changing room with the dress, she gave it one last admiring look, before she went to put it back on the rack, but Elma offered to take the dress for her saying she would put it back to where it belonged.

Lily watched as Elma walked away, she couldn't help but feel something was going on that was nobody was telling her about. She turned back to Katia who just smiled at Lily " Okay what is going on?" she asked.

" I don't know what you mean?" Katia smiled, she was quite the actress when she wanted to be.

Lily pushed some hair back from her face " This, you and Elma wanting to spend the day with me" she replied " I have had nice day with you two, but you never spend time with me" she added, not wanting to sound ungrateful, as today had been nice getting to know Cristiano's sisters.

" Well we figured it was about time we got to know you, since you and Cristiano appear to be closer than ever" Katia smiled. " He seems to care about you a lot" she added.

Lily stared at Katia looking for any sign of dishonesty but couldn't see any " He cares about everyone" she mumbled.

" Yes but you are different" Katia replied " My brother seems smitten with you, I have never seen him like this with any of the other women he has dated" she smiled.

Lily scoffed lightly "I am really not all that different" she insisted " Plus your brother is still dealing with his break up with Irina" she reminded katia.

" Maybe he is, but I don't think it will be too long before he comes calling for you" Katia smirked, as Elma walked back towards them carrying a few bags in her hand, she offered Lily one.

Lily stared at the bag in Elma's hand curiously " For me?" she asked.

Elma nodded her head and smiled " That dress you liked earlier" she replied, waiting for Lily to take the bag " On us of course" she added softly.

" No I can't accept that, its too much" Lily mumbled, suddenly feeling a little uncomfortable.

Katia saw the look on Lily's face and moved towards her " Think of it as a late birthday present" she smiled.

Lily took the bag from Elma " He told you about my birthday?" she asked, she was just glad Katia and Elma hadn't been around to witness her drunken state that night

" No Cris just mentioned you birthday was the other day" Elma replied rather quickly. " So you can't give that dress back, its a gift" she smiled.

A small smile crossed Lily's face " Thank you" she replied softly.

" We should go out for something to eat now, unless you have to get back to my brother" Katia said with a teasing smile.

Lily pulled her phone out, no calls or messages from Cristiano, which was rather odd, he usually messaged her a couple times a day hiding the slight disappointment she felt, Lily forced a small smile on her face, she could go for something to eat right now, she was sure that she would see Cristiano later. "

" I can see your brother later, lets get dinner" Lily smiled, a little pleased that she was getting to know Cristiano's family, it bode well for a potential relationship with him.
