I Will Make You Believe....

To The Future

The next morning, Josh had me up and in an Uber around 11. He was getting his sleeve completely finished today and mine was being added to. I had a horizon piece with my forearm being an ocean scene, the horizon being at the dip in my inner elbow, and from there to my upper arm/shoulder blade was a sky and space scene. I loved it very much and I was thrilled that it was now started. We both finished up around 6 and were walking down the sidewalk, just enjoying each other's company.

"Thank you so much for this. I really love it...." He just smiled at me. We were good at not using PDA in places we thought people would be watching us. Josh recently had a run in with the paparazzi, so we're having to be extra careful.

"I knew you would, that's why you got it." He smiled at me and I have never wanted to kiss him more than just then.

"I'll give you your gifts once we're home." He sighed.

"I like the idea of having a home." I chuckled at him.

"So I bought one..." I stopped walking and stared at him.

"You bought a house?" He had stopped next to me and nodded.

"Back in Columbus, I actually bought in back in October." I didn't realize they were doing that well.

"Dang dude, I didn't realize you were doing that well. I'm happy for you!" I smiled. He didn't really smile back though.

"I wanted something for the future. Something for if I ever have a family." Josh and I had both been talking a lot about the future. We had agreed that the separation wasn't terrible and we were ok with being apart for extended periods of time.

"One day," I grabbed his hand for just a second before pulling away," Now where are we going for dinner?"

We spent the rest of the night just joking around. He had brought me to the beach late at night and tried to throw me in the water, despite both of us knowing we shouldn't be anywhere near the water with fresh tattoos. It was fun being around him and not having to worry about if the crew sees us or anything. Being able to go back to his place and just lay with each other without anyone questioning it was also a god send. I spent as much of my time as possible with him before we left. Monday is when Josh came with me to meet up with Andrew about Coachella.

"Why are you talking to him about Coachella?" Josh asked as we were walking towards the restaurant Andrew was meeting us at. It was close enough to the apartment that we felt a walk wouldn't be too bad.

"Well, as of right now I am supposed to be head of merchandising for the festival. You guys are supposed to be in Australia when I'm being asked to work Coachella though."

"Do you have to pick one or the other?" I nodded to him.

"I mean, don't make me play dirty to keep you around. I'm not afraid to up the number of sweet nothings I whisper to you every night..." I couldn't help but laugh loudly at the boy next to me while we turned onto the same street as the restaurant.

"That's definitely a pro, but I was going to pick you guys anyways. It's more of a long term thing. Even though I basically make a yearly salary during Coachella." He scoffed.

"Then do Coachella! I want you to stay with us of course, but we can do without you for a month if you are going to be off doing that..." I shrugged.

"Something tells me I should be with you as much as possible..." He couldn't help but smile at me I'm sure.

We were at the restaurant and Andrew was already seated.

"Hey! Look at you making friends. Good to see you again Josh!" Andrew hugged both Josh and I before we all sat down.

"So what's going on?" He asked.

"We're not even gonna order food first?" I laughed at Andrew, but he knew me better than that.

"You're the no BS one not me. So what's going on?" I sighed and looked at Josh and then Andrew.

"I'm still scheduled to work Coachella." Andrew looked at Josh this time before pulling out his phone.

"That's five dates and a massive festival over the span of nearly three weeks. You can miss that." I just stared at him incredulously.

"Really, the company won't care about me just dipping out on one of the biggest tours we have this year?" He shrugged and picked up his own menu.

"They'll ask you to advance it still, I'm sure. But for something that small you wouldn't really be needed. Besides," He looked over the menu between Josh and I, "Looks like the band likes you and that trumps all." I just smiled.

"Well then I guess I'll be at Coachella again this year."

The meal went over pretty well and Josh and I were back in his room before we knew it.

"Hey, I still have to give you your Christmas gifts." I hopped out of the bed and over to my suitcase where I had buried them.

"I'll grab yours too."

He hopped up and I heard him digging through his drawers. I grabbed the five small packages and sat down on the foot of his bed. He laughed before sitting across from me.

"You first, You already gave me a big gift so."

He hid his gift behind his back while I handed him his gifts. The games he was excited for of course, but he was screaming at the Dookie record. He was already talking about how to frame it and hang it up before he calmed himself and reached behind his back.

"So, I got this because I figured we were moving really, really fast and I wanted to get something that brought us together." I tilted my head to the side before he produced the small jewelry box.

"Joshua William Dun, this better not be what I think it is..." He frantically shook his head.

"No! It's just matching bracelets." He opened the box and showed me the overlaying bracelets.

"So, they're morse bracelets," He pulled one out and grabbed my wrist," they say little drummer boy and second best to the future." He wound the tie off bracelet around my wrist four times. It was red and black with the pattern beads that he explained to me spelled those words out in morse code. The end had a little alien bead and I couldn't help but tear up at it. The bracelets were beautiful and subtle. I honestly loved them.

"Josh, These are incredible..." The tears were falling and Josh only chuckled and gently used his thumbs to wipe the tears from under my eyes.

"I hoped you would like them. I was worried you would think they were too soon..." I just looked up at him.

"Josh, they're perfect. Let me put yours on." He chuckled and gave me his wrist and the box.

"So they told me when I got these that they're like friendship bracelets. We should each make a wish and if when they fall off that wish will come true." I chuckled.

"Alright," I stopped to make my wish," I have mine." He closed his eyes and then smiled before opening them.

"We don't tell each other right?" He chuckled and pulled me back into the place we had been cuddling before on the bed.

"No, I'm hoping we made a similar wish though." He kissed my temple and pulled me closer to him under the covers.

"Good night, my second best." I sighed contently.

"Good night little drummer boy...."
