“Do you think about these moments often?”
I made a small, inquisitive noise and glanced up at him from where I lay with my head rested against his thigh.
“The time we spend together.”
I moved to a sitting position, my eyes flickering to line up with his and search for a little more reason in his words.
“Fleetingly.” I responded honestly and saw the look of disappointment flow across his face. “I daren’t focus too long on these moments lest I make them too big in my mind.”
“Fleetingly.” He repeated with a small smile of understanding. “A candle you don’t want to burn down.”
I nodded, moving close and clutching to him whilst the flame still lasted.
