Love on the Brain

Not completely normal

“I’m sorry I’m late!” Jade said, as she dumped her leather bag inside his car and climbed in.

Brian smirked at the sight of her. She had her brown hair tugged a tight and high ponytail, and she was dressed in a yellow ribbed crop top along with a pair of wide-leg cropped trousers and her leather loafers. On her wrist Brian noticed a golden bracelet and she had her chemistry book tugged under her arm.

“Good morning, hot piece,” as he bent down to kiss her, he picked up the fresh smell of olive and the sweet scent of her perfume. Brian enjoyed the sensation of her soft lips against his for a brief moment, as Jade pulled away laughing.

“We’re still in front of my house,” she reminded him of, as Brian had to once again remind himself that the two of them weren’t going public just yet.

“Sorry. It’s hard to stop once I’m at it,” he sniggered, just as Jade rolled her eyes at his cheeky comment.

“So, around our friends we’ll act completely normal,” she stated, feeling the need to go through their plan with him.

“Jade, not completely normal. You know, a while ago we couldn’t stand each other,” he reminded her of.

It was really funny to look back at. Brian had disliked everything about her when he first saw her. It didn’t matter that the smell of her was the sweetest scent he’d ever smelled, because he genuinely thought she was an uptight bitch who had had everything on her life given to her.

Jade, on the other hand, considered Brian to be the most cocky and poorly mannered person she’d ever come across. She had ranted about him, completely furious, to her cousin, who had had the pleasure of saying “I said so” every time. If someone asked her back then how she would feel about getting a lift from Brian Haner, Jade would easily respond that she would rather attend a boot camp.

“Okay, not normal,” Jade admitted, as she realized that both of them had allowed their minds to trail back to old memories.

“We’re gonna act like friends,” Brian stated. “Which we also are,” he said.

“We got this,” she said, more to herself than to Brian as she unbuckled her seatbelt.

“Babe, this is gonna be totally fine,” he insured her, brushing his fingers down her bare arm. “And when we get the chance to,” he sniggered. “It’ll be even more fine,”

“Pervert,” she shook her head and threw her messenger bag over her shoulder.

As the two of them climbed out of the car, Jade could feel several glares as she passed a couple of guys from the football-team. Despite the fact that it had gone almost a month since Maddie decided to throw a punch at Jade, the rumours about her and Brian were still swirling over their heads.

“Ignore it,” Brian said, almost like he was able to read her thoughts.

“Sorry,” she muffled.

“Jade!” Michelle called for her, and Jade threw one last glance at Brian, before the two of them parted.

She watched as he went to join Matt, both of them moving towards the back of the school so that they could grab a cigarette.

“You look so good!” her friend complimented, earning herself a bright smile from Jade.

“Thanks! You too!” Jade announced.

“There’s someone you need to meet!” the blonde girl said, as she waved at a two guys she had been talking to earlier. Val companied both of the guys and Zacky as they all staggered towards the brunette.

“This is Jason and Matty,” Michelle introduced. “They’re crazy, just like the others,” she added.

“Hi. I’m Jade, nice to meet you,” the brunette smiled at the siblings.

“Nice to meet you too! Michelle’s been talking non-stop about you! I’m Jason, and this is my crazy ass brother, Matt!” Jason said, shaking her hand, as the brunette allowed her eyes to take in the sight of the two of them.

They looked quite similar, both of them having dark half-long hair with smudged eyeliner covering their waterlines. Jason had a caps tugged over his head, and both of them were dressed in band t-shirts and basketball shorts.

“Where exactly have you guys been?” she asked, her book tugged under her arm, as the group of people shuffled towards the hallway.

“Our grandmother just died and she lives in Georgia,” Matt explained, instantly sending shivers down Jade’s spine.

“Oh, I’m so sorry,” the brunette apologized, her hand covering her mouth.

The two siblings chuckled, before they wrapped their arms around her back. “No worries, hon,” Jason insured her. “Something tells me that we’re gonna have a hard time getting angry at such a pretty face,” he sniggered, his thumb gracing her jaw line.

Jade giggled rather nervously, as her eyes moved over to Brian, who had his eyebrows cocked and looked anything but pleased with what he saw.

“Ey, fuckers! You missed our gig!” Jimmy said, nudging Jason so hard that the dark-haired boy’s arm fell from Jade’s figure.

“Yeah, what the hell!” Zacky joined, pushing Matt Berry so that he stumbled forward, making Jade and Brian lock eyes as she noticed that her boyfriend seemed a lot more pleased now.

“Jade!” Michelle beamed happily. “Val and I are home alone for the weekend, so we’re throwing a little party!” she announced, excitement swirling in her eyes.

“It’s gonna be lit as fuck!” Val agreed, her fingers laced with Matt’s.

“I can’t wait,” Jade smiled cheekily at her friends, before she went to stop by her locker. The brunette took her time to unlock the code and exchange books.

“Have you seriously decided to forgive them after what happened?” a high-pitched voice said, as Jade allowed her eyes to look over her locker and straight into Olivia’s dark eyes.

“Good morning to you too,” the brunette sighed.

“Have you forgotten about that bruise you kept bitching about for a whole week?” her cousin said, obviously not pleased with the sight that had greeted her when she entered the hall.

“Oli,” Jade sighed again. “I can explain,”

“Then go ahead, J,” the other girl demanded. “Because the only reason I can think of is if you were in love with Brian, and that’s just too gross to even consider,” she went on.

It felt as though a lump was stuck in her throat as Olivia spoke. She listened to her cousin continue her rant, meanwhile the two of them paddled down the hall, walking towards the biology class.

Jade’s mind couldn’t help but drift off as Olivia spoke. So many things had happened over such a short time, and even though it felt as though things were about to calm down, the brunette still hadn’t found out how to tell her friends about Brian. She knew most of the guys would probably be fine, but the ones that scared her was Olivia and Michelle, who would both explode, either by disappointment or anger when she came clean to them.

“J!” Olivia sneered. “Are you even listening?” her cousin said, her eyebrows cocked.

“I’m sorry. I’m just a little tired,” the brunette lied, a sincere smile twisting her glossy lips.

“Sure thing,” the dark-haired girl rolled her eyes. “Anyway, what are you doing this weekend? Tracey wants to drink,” she told her.

Jade dumped her books on top of her desk, already realizing that she was not in the mood for biology this early.

“I’m hanging out with Michelle,” she told her cousin, who quickly rolled her eyes.

“DiBenedetto? Again? Aren’t you tired?”

“Oli,” Jade sighed. “She’s a great friend,” she said. “Don’t be rude,”

“Come on, J. We never hang out,” Olivia stated, twirling her pencil in her finger.

“We’re kinda hanging out now,” the brunette pointed out, avoiding the glare Olivia sent her.

“Don’t!” she sneered. “We should practice for SAT together,” Olivia suggested, knowing that the tests were right around the corner.

Jade tugged at her bottom lip, her elbows resting on top of the desk, meanwhile the two of them were doing an excellent job ignoring what the teacher was going through.

“That might be a good idea,” she agreed, knowing that none of her friends studied harder than Olivia when she was first at it.

“Excellent,” her cousin smiled brightly. “Thursday? After school?”

“It’s a date,” Jade smiled.

“Gosh, I hate that we have to hide this,” Brian groaned in the crook of her neck, her sweet scent driving him crazy, as he flipped her on top of him, his palms resting on each side of her legs, meanwhile she straddled his hips.

“I thought you liked it this way,” Jade sniggered, looking down on him, with her hands laced in his long hair.

Brian chuckled, before he all but threw her unto the bed and claimed his lips his in a hungry and eager kiss.

“As much as I enjoy sneaking around with you,” he started, his newborn goatee tickling her bare skin as he once again buried his face in her neck. “It would be great if my friends stopped drooling over you,” he half-groaned, referring to the little incident earlier today.

“I’m sorry about that,” she said, her hands cupping his face and her thumb gracing his hollow cheekbone.

“Babe, don’t apologize. We wanted to keep this between the two of us, and that’s what we’re gonna do until we’re comfortable to step out,” he told her, his lips pecking her nose softly.

“You’re great, Haner,” Jade giggled, as his lips tickled her skin again. The two of them had locked themselves up on his room, enjoying the fact that they had the house all to themselves.

“I know, right,” he grinned, making her roll her eyes. “Now, let me show you how great I can be,” he sniggered, before he lowered his lips against hers and brought her mouth into another eager kiss.

Brian balanced his weight, trying not to crush the brunette underneath him, meanwhile he allowed his lips to travel down her neck, his mouth soon meeting the neck of her top.

Jade shut her eyes and held unto the sensation that filled her, as his thin lips sent shivers crawling down her spine. She could feel his mouth creep down towards her collarbone, meanwhile his hands soon travelled to the waistband of her trousers.

Her hands soon found his, her fingers wrapping around his wrists. She soon stopped him, her dark eyes glancing into his, meanwhile her teeth tugged at her bottom lip.

“Brian,” she muffled, her voice appearing as soft as velvet.

The dark-haired boy soon stopped and looked over at Jade. He noticed how thoughtful she looked, with her hands holding unto his and the gentle expression on her face.

“What’s going on?” he asked, feeling the warmth of her hands.

“I think I need to go,” she said, her body holding unto a sigh, as she signalized that he rolled off her body.

“Did I do something wrong?” Brian asked, completely puzzled by the way she had brushed him off and was now sitting on the edge of his bed.

“What? No,” Jade giggled softly, placing her hand on his shoulder. “I just have to get home and do homework,” she told him, pecking the side of his cheek.

“W-what?” he nearly stuttered back. “Are you ditching me for school?” Brian said a little louder, still confused.

“I’m sorry, babe. Olivia and I have an assignment to do, and she’s already been complaining about me not spending enough time with her,” Jade told her boyfriend, her fingers digging into his

“Bitch,” Brian muttered annoyed under his breath.

“Brian,” she sighed. “I’ll call you later,” she promised, kissing the corner of his lips.

“What if I’m extremely busy doing homework then?” he asked rather teasingly, cocking his eyebrows at her.

“Then I’ll call 911 instead,” she responded, earning herself a view of his offended expression.

“Jesus, you’re on fire,” he chuckled. “Okay, let me walk you to the door,” he sighed, not hiding the fact that he was disappointed that she was leaving.

Brian climbed out of his bed and watched as she went to grab her shoes as well as the messenger bag she had abandoned at the end of his bed. The two of them made their way passed the living room and towards the hall, Brian having a lovely view of the way her hips swayed as she walked.

“I think I gotta make a deal with Olivia so that she doesn’t get to steal you like this,” Brian said, watching as his girlfriend rolled her eyes at him.

“You do realize that you’re talking about me as though I’m a property, right?” she cocked her eyebrows at him while throwing her bag over her shoulder.

“You’re my property,” he sniggered, placing his arms around her pulling her closer.

“I might be yours, but I’m certainly no property,” she reminded him of, meanwhile she drew closer and kissed his lips tenderly.

“If you say so,” Brian mumbled under his breath.
