It Cannot Get Any Worse

Cop Killer

Andrew dropped down into the rip rap along the riverbank where there were no trees in his way. Tripping occasionally over loose rocks or grape vines was better than trying to push through the trees and brush. Besides, there might be poison ivy in the woods. Andrew hated poison ivy. Once he thought he was even with the driveway, he crouched and made his way through the woods. The police car was right across the street. It was facing away from him and it was still running. He could see the outline of the copper’s head in the window. Well that head would not be there for long.

Andrew dashed to the side of the police car and quickly fired five rounds through the window. He could see Darrin and Todd running for the house. The cop did not scream. In fact, he did not move at all. Andrew became concerned when the cop did not even slump forward. He was more concerned when he felt the barrel of a gun pressed to the back of his head and heard a muttered “drop it, both hands slowly on the roof of the car, or you die right now.” Andrew complied.
