Make You Feel My Love

Coming home

The sun was beaming on top of the sky, meanwhile the heat she hadn't felt in years traveled down her bare arms. The brunette watched as the driver stopped in front of a giant house she had only seen in pictures. It was a massive mansion with a great patio that smelled of tulips. The woman soon unbuckled her seatbelt, as she opened the door and brought her designer glasses down from the top of her head.

“This heat is wicked,” the British dark-haired man said to her, as he looked over at his partner, who was enjoying the sight of Huntington Beach.

“Isn’t it amazing?” she exclaimed, while her fingers hooked around the strap of her Louis Vuitton bag.

William rolled his eyes at her, finding it adorable as Jade was beyond excited to see her friends again. Jade hadn’t been around since she had graduated from high school and moved away to Connecticut. Will knew that she was thrilled to be back home, as the brunette couldn't stop talking about how California was the place to be.

“Babe, I’ll pay,” Jade said to her partner, as she already had her Gucci wallet in her hand, her credit card peeking up from the wallet.

“Are you sure?” he asked, to which she only rolled her eyes at.

“I’m an independent woman, honey. I’ll pay,” she insured him, making him chuckle as her comment was so extremely typical of her.

“I swear to God, Matt! I heard a car!” a familiar voice insisted, as Jade turned around and allowed her eyes to follow the sound of the footsteps that she had heard.

Her eyes soon widened and a bright smile twisted her lips as she saw Valary emerge from the house, her husband following closely.

“Jade!” Valary all but screeched, clasping her hands together as she walked over to her friend and wrapped her arms around her. “I can’t believe it!”

Jade was soon pushed into Val’s chest, as the blonde girl rocked her from one side to the other, never wanting to let go of her long-time friend.

“Val! It’s so good to see you!” Jade responded with just as much enthusiasm.

“Look at you!” Val announced, before her hands went to cup each side of her face. “Girl, you look way too good!” she said.

“Oh, sweet, look at you!” Jade called, her hands resting on each side of her shoulders.

The Valary Jade had left back in Huntington had jet-black hair and would always wear her boyfriend's old band t-shirts. Her eyes would be framed by smokey eyeshadow, as well as lots of eyeliner. Now however that had changed. Val's hair was strawberry blonde, and her eyes had been stripped off the dark eyeshadow, and was instead decorated by a soft nude eyeshadow and light mascara.

“Jade!” a rusty voice emerged from behind, as Matt laced his arms around her waist and all but lifted the petite woman in the air.

Jade couldn’t help but shriek as her purse hit the ground and she all but wiggled in his grasp as Matt swung her around as though she was a doll and not a grown woman.

“Baby!” she squealed at the man, who soon put her down and went to hug her in his now heavy biceps.

Even though Matt had changed since she saw him, his style remained the same. He was dressed in a dark tank top and a pair of loose shorts. His arms were now heavily tattooed everywhere, and his silver lip ring still remained where she'd last seen it. His hair had been newly shaved and he was wearing a pair of big sunglasses.

“You look really good!” Matt announced, his eyes glancing over at the brunette who had just turned even more beautiful since last time he saw her.

“Hello, you too!” she nudged him, before she went to grab her bag.

“Is this your lover-boy?” Val asked, referring to Will who had managed to step away from their little reunion.

“It is! Babe, let me introduce you to some of the greatest people on Earth,” Jade announced, as she linked her arm with his and pulled him forward. “This is my long-time best friend, Valary DiBenedetto,” she said, pointing at the blonde girl.

“Now it’s actually Valary Sanders, honey,” Val corrected Jade, making her realize how long she had been away.

“Oh, God! Of course it is!” Jade shook her head at herself.

“I’m Valary, but please call me Val! It’s so nice to finally meet you,” Val said, her fingers soon embracing his as the two of them shook hands.

“I’m Will. Pleasure is all mine,” he said, exposing his thick British accent.

“Jade! You never told me that he's British!” the blonde said.

“Well, now I’m back and I have all the time in the world to tell you about him,” Jade insured her friend.

“This is my other good friend, Matt,” the brunette went on.

“Hi, man. Nice to meet you,” Matt said, his smile exposing his dimples.

“An honour to meet you too,” William smiled sincerely at him.

The four of them was soon interrupted by the sound of a shrieking voice. A voice Jade had heard too many times in her life, and that couldn’t belong to anyone but Jimmy Sullivan, another man she had missed terribly much.

"You gotta meet the guys! They're all so thrilled that you're here!" Val announced, linking her arm with Jade's.

“That sounds like an exquisite idea,” the brunette agreed.

“Seriously, you gotta tell me everything about how you guys met,” Val insisted, while guiding her friend through her patio and towards her doorstep.

“I’ll fill you in on everything!” Jade promised.

The blonde woman guided Jade down the hall, Jade’s heels drumming against the marvel floor, meanwhile her dark eyes looked at all the pictures that decorated the walls.

"Look, I hope you didn't go all crazy," Jade warned her friend, her voice only a soft whisper. "You guys have been so busy with the upcoming wedding, and I don't wanna steal any-"

"SURPRISE!" a group of familiar voices cheered out loud, nearly giving the brunette a heart attack, while she looked over at the blonde woman who was now giggling.

"Jade! You're back!" Johnny announced, as he stepped forward and brought his arms around the brunette. “And you look gorgeous!” he complimented.

“You guys are out of your minds!” Jade yelled at them, still trying to recover from the shock, while she looked at all the booze that loaded the coffee table in the wide living room.

“Everything for you, love,” Zack sniggered, as he was the next to greet her. “This is Gena,” he said, bringing his fiancée along with him.

Gena was about as tall as Zack with almost platinum blonde short hair. Her skin was toned and one of the first things that caught Jade’s attention was the silver Monroe piercing. She had light blue eyes, just like Zack, and was dressed in a white summer dress.

“It’s so nice to finally meet you! I’m Jade,” the brunette said, holding her hand towards the woman who soon shook it.

“The pleasure is all mine, sweetie!” Gena responded eagerly.

“Thank you so much for the invitation to your wedding! And thank you so much for letting me bring Will, that’s the sweetest thing!” Jade exclaimed.

“It’s not like you haven’t thanked us at least ten times on Facebook and sent us flowers,” Zack joked, meanwhile his fiancée rolled her eyes at him.

“Darling, that was nothing, really! We’re so happy that you decided to join!” she responded.

“Of course I would join! There's no place I'd rather be!" Jade assured her new friend.

“That’s so great to hear,” the smile on Gena’s lips never faded as she spoke.

Someone soon tapped Jade’s shoulders, as she turned around and was swept off the ground by Jimmy’s slender arms.

“Perez!” he yelled, a wicked grin covering his lips, as he almost threw her over her shoulder.

“James! We talked about this, hon!” a female voice said, as Jimmy soon pouted his lips.

“Come on!" Jimmy pouted his lips, looking at the short girl who had her hands placed on her hips, looking like a mother that disapproved of something her son had just done.

Jimmy soon pulled her down and went to hug, just like Matt had done.

“Sweet! I can’t believe you’re back!” Jimmy bellowed, his arms wrapped around her shoulders as Jade had her face practically shoved into his chest.

“It’s good to see you too, Jim,” she managed to press out. “But dear, you’re kinda choking me right now,” Jade announced.

“Sorry,” the drummer grinned wickedly at her. “You gotta meet my girlfriend!” he said, as the short girl from earlier stepped forward.

“I’m Leana! It’s nice to meet you, Jade. Jimmy talks about you all the time,” she said.

Leana was a short girl with caramel brown curly hair. The ends of her bangs had been dyed red, and her skin was toned and glowing. Her eyes were whiskey brown and warm, and Jade was instantly drawn to her sweet perfume.

“Jade! It’s great to meet you too! Jimmy’s also been rambling about you and how amazing you are, so I’m sure we’ll get along,” Jade smiled brightly back, already knowing that she would adore this girl.

“Aw, Jim!” Leana announced, obviously touched by Jade’s words, as she went to peck her boyfriend’s lips.

“I hope you haven’t forgotten about me yet,” an extremely familiar voice reached her ears, and Jade couldn’t help but smile as she turned around and saw a face she had missed too much.

“Michy!” Jade practically yelled, as the new girls seemed taken aback by the fact that such a petite woman could hold so much energy inside her body.

“Baby!” Michelle responded, sounding just as excited, as the two girls literally melted into each other’s embrace.

“You look so freaking good!” Jade said, her arms remaining tightly around the other girl.

“Sweet, you’re a sexy beast!” the other woman retorted, before glancing over at Jade. “And here I was, believing that you wouldn’t get any prettier,” she shook her head. “Should be illegal!”

“Stop it you!” Jade waved her hand, feeling the heat that crept towards her cheeks, as she felt like a teenage-girl again. “You are the most precious woman,”

Jade took her time to look at her best friend. Michelle had obviously not gone through the same massive change as her twin sister. Her hair had been dyed a little darker and for the evening it had also been curled. She had bright red lips and her eyes had been decorated with golden eyeshadow.

“Is that your guy over there?” Michelle asked, looking over her shoulder and noticing Will, who was being introduced to people by Valary.

“It is! I’ve told him so much about you, so you really need to talk to him,” Jade insisted. “You’ll love him!" the brunette assured the other woman.

“Of course I will! That reminds me that there’s something I need to tell you,” Michelle said, a clever smile twisting her lips.

“And that is?” Jade crossed her arms over her chest and looked at her friend, knowing the smirk that curled her lips.

“Brian and I are together!” Michelle squealed happily.

“Oh my God, Michy! That’s great! When did this happen? Why didn’t I get the call? Are you cheating on me?” all the questions came rambling out of her lips, as Jade narrowed her eyes at her best friend.

“I’m sorry, J!” Michelle apologized. “I was just so unsure how you would take it. I mean, he was your high school sweetheart after all,” she said.

“Oh, please! That was so many years ago! And I’m together with Will! I'm so happy for you!" Jade insured her friend.

“You have no idea what a relief it is to hear this from you, Jade! I’ve been so fucking terrified to tell you! God, I knew you would understand!” Michelle sighed heavily, before she once again wrapped her arms around her best friend and squeezed her shoulders tightly.

“Speaking of my high school sweetheart, where is he?” Jade asked, realizing that everybody had surprised her except for him.

“He’s in the kitchen, I just saw him!” Michelle said. “You should go and say hi to him,” she smiled.

Jade nodded, the smile never fading from her lips, as she wrapped her fingers around the strap of her bag again and paddled into the direction Michelle had pointed her into.

Brian was leaning against the kitchen counter, his fingers wrapped around an ice-cold beer, meanwhile his gaze rested upon the huge windows that gave him the perfect view over Matt and Val’s backyard.

“Of course I would find you with a beer,” a very familiar spoke, as the dark-haired guitarist moved his gaze until it landed on Jade’s face. She had a smirk twisting her pinkish lips and her arms crossed over her chest.

It had been such a long time since Brian had seen her. The brown hair had been tied into the high ponytail she’d always wear in high school. On the top of her head rested her Chanel sunglasses, and his gaze soon looked at the vanilla one shoulder ruffle top she was wearing that created a fair contrast between the light colour and her sun-kissed skin. His gaze then shifted towards her loose trousers and down to her designer black pumps. On her shoulder he noticed her bag and how her eyes were now looking at him.

“Are you just gonna stand there and think about how much I’ve changed since last time?” she sniggered, snapping him out of his scanning.

“Well, hello, Perez,” Brian smiled, as he walked over to her and soon felt the petite brunette wrap her arms around his neck.

Jade pulled him tightly into her chest, feeling the cold beer that touched her bare back as he wrapped his arms around her.

“It’s good to see you,” she muttered against his chest, her nostrils sucking up the new scent of him.

“You look good, Jade,” Brian said when he leaned back with his hands holding unto her shoulders.

She did look good. Really good.

The brunette pulled her lips into a sincere smile, and Brian couldn’t help but feel astonish by her appearance. A lot had changed since the two of them last met. Brian was no longer an unknown guy who thrived in order to achieve his dream. Now he was a world famous guitarist, often referred to as one of the best guitarists out there. He had millions of women all over the world that worshipped the ground he walked on, and his ego had, somehow, also grown along with this new life.

Jade had also changed. She went to Yale, despite how insecure she had been on attending college right away. She was no longer rebelling against her parents, and the once red hair had been dyed back to her natural colour, probably before she left for college. She hadn’t chosen the path her parents wanted, considering she had ended up as a doctor instead of a chemist. She had also been in Cambridge in order to finish her degree, where she had also met the love of her life that had willingly transferred to Yale after a year.

“You don’t look so bad yourself,” she responded jokingly, as Brian was reminded of how they had always communicated – through mocking and jokes only the two of them could wrap their heads around.

“So, you’re back for good?” he asked, lifting his beer and letting it meet his lips.

“Yeah, finally! We’re staying over at my parents’ house meanwhile we’re redecorating the new house,” she explained.

“How are they? Not too disappointed with you, I hope?” this time it was Brian who presented his mocking tone, as Jade, just like she did back in the days, rolled her eyes at him.

“They’re doing great! They almost killed me, but I think it’s all forgiven by now,” Jade said jokingly, forcing out laughter from him.

“That’s great,” he said, the silly smile remaining on his lips.

“There you guys are!” Michelle said from the kitchen entrance. “Jade, you don’t get to disappear today!” she said, as she walked up to the two of them. “And babe, you don’t get to steal my best friend,”

Brian chuckled, as he drew his hands up in surrender and looked at his girlfriend. “Sorry, sweet,” he announced, before Michelle pecked his lips.

“Come on, guys! Val has made so much food for this day, you have no idea,” Michelle told her friend, as both Jade and Brian followed the brunette into the living room again.

As Jade returned back into the living room, she could see the guys chilling in the couch, Will joking around with her friends as though he had known them just as long as she had. The sight of it brought an instant smile to her lips, as her boyfriend noticed it and waved her over to him.

“Are you guys stealing my boyfriend?” Jade asked, glancing over at Zack, who only sniggered back.

“You know the rules, baby. If you like it then you should’ve put a ring on it,” he shrugged, meanwhile Jade plumped down on Will’ lap.

“I bet you know all about that, Baker,” the brunette retorted, just as Zack wrapped his arm around Gena’s waist and pulled her closer.

“Oh, but I do,” he sniggered, as his girlfriend’s head dropped to his shoulder.

“This is gonna be my first wedding in America!” Will announced at the almost married couple.

“How fun! It’s so cool that you’re joining us on our big day!” Gena smiled brightly.

“I hope you’re more into alcohol than your lady, because I can assure you that drinking lots of booze is required to be on the guest-list,” Zack said half-jokingly.

“Oh, I’m really down for that,” Will insured his new friend.

“Brilliant! You’ve really captured yourself a good man, Jade!”

“One of my best abilities, Zack,” Jade announced, just as Will planted his large hand against her waist.

“Have you guys planned your honeymoon yet?” the brunette asked, turning towards Gena, whose entire face brightened up immediately.

“Oh my God, here we go again,” Zack muffled.

“Of course! Let me just find my notebook and I’ll tell you everything about Santorini!” the blonde woman said, before she freed herself from Zack’s arm.

“I’ll come along!” Jade told her, as she too got up. “You’ll be fine without me, right?” she asked, looking down on Will, who only chuckled.

“Sweet, go ahead. I’ll just keep bonding with your friends,” he said jokingly, as his girlfriend paddled away with Gena.

“Gates!” Zack whistled at his friend who had been talking to his girlfriend for quite some time. “Get your ass over here!”

William was busy rolling up the sleeves of his white shirt, as the dark-haired guitarist staggered towards the two men, not recognizing the man sitting next to Zack.

“This, Will, is Brian,” Zack said, introducing the two men. “This is Will, Jade’s boyfriend,”

“Hi, I’m Will! Nice to meet you,” the British dark-haired man said, holding up his hand for Brian to shake.

The guitarist examined the other man. He was fair skinned with brown eyes and dark hair that been pulled back by hair-gel. He had carved cheekbones and clear skin with thin pinkish lips. His nose was rather round, and the man was dressed in a pair of black trousers and a white shirt that had been buttoned up.

“Brian,” the guitarist said, shaking his hand, feeling the tight grip.
