---

All night there was no sign of Haylee.
The cops came and went and so did the neighbors, trying to make the Taylors happy.
For the thousandth time I laid in my bed and cried that night, until there was a light knock at me door, the tears flowed.

"The Taylors are here to see you." My dad's voice sounded through the door as shame shot through me.

They probably thought I did this.
Put all the guilt on me once again and lead to another fight between our families.
I left my wet pillow and descended the stair case with tear streaked cheeks.

"Hi." I choked out lamely as I looked at the mess of the Taylor's.
"T-this tape is for you, from Haylee. W-we wanted you to watch it before the police got a hold of it." Mrs. Taylor spoke as she handed me a video with my name on it, nicely written.
"Thank you." I managed to say as I choked back fresh tears.

The Taylors nodded and walked away, with Mr. Taylor trying to comfort his wife.

I sat up in my room just staring at the tape in my hands.
It could be anything, and I was scared shitless.
Finally I came to my senses and shoved the tape in and pushed the play button.
On the screen Haylee popped up, with a guitar, and a smile plastered on her face.
I smiled too, besides the fact this was just a tape.

"Hey Lindsie. Your probably sitting in your room now with a tear streaked face and laughing at how smart I am by thinking ahead..."

She started as I did laugh.
She always thought ahead, with everything.

"I know you miss me right now and I miss you too. But, I'm in a better place now. Don't jump to conclusions and think I'm dead, because I'm not. I'm totally safe and I need you to trust me and keep faith. I needed to leave to protect both of us, I couldn't stand watching you from my window get hit..."

She said as my heart sank.
She saw that?
My parents leaving a mark, showing how much they're ashamed of me.
I fought the urge to cry, yet again, and looked back up at the screen.

"I couldn't stand seeing you get hurt emotionally and physically. It was too much guilt to carry, for you and me. Still, I love you the same, no matter what happens to you or me, I will always feel the same about you. You always asked why I was up all night, and well have an answer now. I was writing a song for you. So here is goes..."

She picked up her guitar and made sure it was tuned just right.

"If you be my star, I'll be your sky.
You can hide underneath me and come out at night.
When I turn jet black and you show off your light.
I live to let you shine.
I live to let you shine.

But you can sky rocket away from me.
And never come back if you find another galaxy.
Far from here, with more room to fly.
Just leave me your stardust to remember you by.

If you be my boat, I'll be your sea.
A depth of pure blue just to probe curiosity.
Ebbing and flowing and pushed by a breeze.
I live to make you free.
I live to make you free.

But you can set sail to the West if you want to.
And pass the horizen till I can't even see you.
Far from here where the beaches are wide.
Just leave me your wake to remember you by.

If you be my star, I'll be your sky.
You can hide underneath me and came out at night.
When I turn jet black and you show off your light.
I live to let you shine.
I live to let you shine.

But you can sky rocket away from me.
And never come back if you find another galaxy.
Far from here with more room to fly.
Just leave me your stadust to remember you by.
Stardust to remember you by.

I love you Lindsie, always and forever."

She finished as he screen went black and the video ejected by itself.
I sat there with mixed emotions.
Not able to choose one to fit the time.
She'll love me forever.
