Third Time's a Charm

Chapter 4

I drowsily opened my eyes and glanced over at the other side of my bed. I noticed it was empty, but I didn't think more of it as I crawled out of my bed and headed to my bathroom. I did my morning routine before I ran my fingers through my slightly tangled hair.

I looked at myself in the mirror and was glad that I at least wasn't too tired to take off my makeup last night, technically this morning. After the ball dropped and everyone had kissed their intended person, Chris had made everyone take a shot of tequila; the first shot of the year, he called it. And it was pretty hard to say no to Chris. He was really persuasive when it came to drinking. So everyone took a shot, mostly so he wouldn't try to persuade anyone else to drink more. I was also glad that I wasn't hung over. I only had a few drinks plus that shot, so I wasn't too far gone. Also, I wasn't really supposed to be drinking too much because I was still on my antidepressants anyway.

I quickly took my iron supplements and antidepressants before I left my bathroom and bedroom. As I walked down the hallway, I noticed the decorations were still up. And as I walked into the living room, I noticed that almost nothing was cleaned up yet. I let out a small sigh. When I walked further into the living room, Will looked up from his spot on the couch. He smiled at me as I walked towards him and I pressed a quick kiss on his lips.

"Morning," I greeted him.

"Morning, love," he replied. I grinned before I kissed him again and then pulled away from him.

I turned and walked into the kitchen, grabbing a glass and filling it up with orange juice. I grabbed a slice of bread and ate it before I washed it down with the orange juice. When I was finished, I leaned against the counter and watched Will from the kitchen. He was wearing pajama pants and a plain black shirt, and he still had bed hair. He was sitting on the couch, his feet perched up on the matching ottoman. He was reading a book and he drank his tea every so often that was resting on the coffee table in front of him. I continued to watch him as he turned a page in his book.

I couldn't help but think how he looked so good just reading a damn book. I pushed myself off the counter and walked towards him. Will looked up from his book as I neared him and smiled that perfect smile of his. He opened his arms for me and I crawled onto his lap, getting comfortable in his arms.

"What are you reading?" I asked as I wrapped an arm around his neck. He lifted the book for me to read the title. "Never heard of it," I replied as I absentmindedly played with the hair on the back of his head.

"It's pretty good actually," he said as an arm wrapped around my waist.

"Read it to me," I said as I nuzzled into his neck. He let out a chuckle before he started reading from where he left off.

His voice was deep and quiet so only I could hear it. After a few minutes, I felt myself drift off from the soothing tone of his voice. I snuggled deeper into him and his arm around me tightened as he continued to read to me.

It was a new year, a whole new start, and I couldn't have asked for a better way to start the year or morning then this right here; being in Will's arms.

After a while, I wasn't really sure how long, but I was being gently woken up. I woke up for the second time that day, this time, still in Will's arms. I sent him a lazy smile as he brushed the hair out of my face.

"You fell asleep on me there," he said quietly with a smile on his face.

"Your voice was soothing," I admitted with a yawn. I could feel his chest rumble with a chuckle. I watched as he set aside his book on the couch next to us before he wrapped both of his strong arms around my body. They were warm and firm, and I didn't want to leave them.

When I heard a groan from the hallway though, I knew it wouldn't last very long. "Get a room," I heard Erin mumble as she walked past us and into the kitchen.

"I don't think you'd want us to do that," I replied with a grin. I heard her groan again in disgust and Will and I couldn't help but laugh.

"At least help me clean up the apartment before you guys start boning," she said bluntly as she walked into the living room with a trash bag. I laughed again as I reluctantly crawled out of Will's warm arms.

After a good two hours of cleaning, everything was cleaned and all the decorations were taken down.

I retreated to my room, slightly nauseated. It was probably from my antidepressants or iron supplements, or just the whole moving around a lot and cleaning. Or maybe even from the alcohol last night. So I laid down on my bed until the feeling passed.

When I heard my bedroom door open, I opened my eyes and saw Will enter my room. I smiled at him as I leaned up onto my forearms.

"Hi," I said with a smile.

"Hi," he replied. He walked towards me and sat down next to me. "You alright then?" he asked me as he felt my forehead. "You're a little pale."

"I am?" I asked in surprise.

"Yeah, you are."

"You know I'm just naturally pale, right?" He rolled his eyes at me.

"I know that, but you seem even paler than usual," he replied in an almost exasperated voice.

"I'm just a little nauseous," I said.

"From your iron supplements?" he asked me. I shrugged. "You want me to get you some water?" I smiled at him and nodded. I watched as he stood up and left my room. In less a minute, he came back with a glass of water. I gladly took it with a thank you and he turned to grab something from his bag in the corner of my room. I watched him as I drank my water and I noticed he took his laptop out. He must have brought it back with him from his house, because he had been using mine since he had been over.

When I was finished with the water, I set the glass aside onto my bedside table. Will sat next to me and set up his laptop in front of him.

"Hey, love, what's your wifi password?" he asked me as he glanced at me quickly before he turned back to his laptop. The small smile that was on my face instantly dropped. I wasn't exactly sure if I wanted to tell him my password. When I didn't reply, he turned to face me completely.

"Why?" I asked hesitantly. He looked at me as if that was the stupidest question in the world.

"Because I would like to go online?" he asked as he gestured to his laptop.

"I'll log in for you," I said quickly as I reached for his laptop. He was too quick for me though and picked up his laptop and took it out of my reach.

"Why don't you just tell me the password?" he asked. I let out a sigh.

"I don't want you to know it."

"Why? Is it embarrassing or something?" he asked with a small smirk.

"Uh, kind of..."

"What is it? Just tell me." I let out another sigh before I replied.

"William Harper is the biggest asshole in the world," I said quietly. "Caps on your name and no spaces." Will stared at me in shock and confusion.

"...what?" he finally asked when he found his voice.

"William Harper is the biggest asshole in the world," I repeated.

"That can't be your password," he said.

"Check for yourself," I said as I gestured to his laptop. He looked at me incredulously before he typed it in. And there you go, it connected.

"Are you fucking kidding me, Nicole? That's your password?" His voice rose slightly.

"I'm sorry, but I couldn't think of anything else at the time. Plus, this was after we broke up, so I thought it was appropriate."

"We've been back together for how long already and you could've changed it by now."

"It's an easy password to remember," I said in my defense. Will's glare only hardened at me. His glare didn't lessen as he looked away from me and instead looked at his laptop screen. "Oh, come on, Will," I said. "I'm sorry, but you can't blame me for that." I held onto his arm and rested my head on his shoulder as I looked at him. He glanced at me from his peripheral vision before he let out a scowl. I giggled at him as I nudged at him. "Come on, Will. Don't be mad at me." I leaned closer to him as I pecked him on the cheek. His scowl was gone, but he was still glaring. I placed another kiss on him, this time closer to his ear. I pressed another light kiss just below his earlobe before I spoke again. "Babe," I breathed out near his ear. He shivered at the sensation and I knew I had him.

I gently nibbled on his earlobe as the hand that wasn't holding his arm wrapped around his neck. He shivered again before I turned his face towards me and kissed him full on the lips.

"Nicole," he said in a low voice when I pulled away. I smiled at him.

"Yes, dear?" I asked him as I pecked him again.

"Change your password," he said darkly as I continued my kisses. My smile only deepened at that.

"Not a chance in hell," I said sweetly. He grunted as he turned away from me. My hand that was on his neck moved to his shoulders and I gently massaged them until he wasn't tense anymore.

After a good fifteen minutes did he finally calm down enough to look at me without glaring. I liked that even though we were together, I could still do things to tick him off. It was one of my favorite hobbies and I was glad that I wouldn't have to give that up. Just because it was a new year, it didn't mean I couldn't do my teasing that I always did before.
