Summer

The Great Departure

Winter has passed.
Winter came into Summer as it left,
Swiftly and quietly.
The bitterness Summer felt then,
Summer feels now.
When it first came, it felt warm,
It felt embracing, equaling that of Summer.
The cold was almost absent.
Winter covered all of Summer's soul-crushing fears with a white blanket of snow.
Fall was wonderful, and all she needed for eternity.
But in time, Summer remembered what Winter really was.
Through the years it nipped at her fingers.
The cold sent a shiver down her spine.
It began to envelope her soul,
But more importantly, her heart.
Winter led her into a blistering snowstorm.
Summer forgot the warmth it once exuded.
Summer was blinded by its beautiful white screen.
Winter's everlasting echoes rang in Summer's ears.
Winter's constant avalanches trampled the last parts of Summer's fire.
Summer turned cold, almost frozen.
And now,
Winter has passed.
Winter came into Summer as it left,
Swiftly and quietly.
