Revelations

Now

Outside, the wind howls. I head into the parking lot and into my car, slamming the door behind me. I sit for a few minutes, before I texted Kayla.

On the way back.

She answered immediately: Okay, good. Mom's freaking out.

I stuck my phone in the cup holder next to me, and started the engine. As I left the precinct, I thought about the night my dad died. Most specifically, I recalled a conversation that I had with Isaac. It was something I hadn't remembered until now.

I couldn't leave yet. I had to tell them what I knew.
