Revelations

Now

"Did I tell you to kill my dad?" I demanded after he opened the door.

Isaac stepped aside and turned to look at me. "Nina, where did you go? I've been trying to get in touch with you for the last two hours."

"Please just tell me," I said.

He sighed and pressed his fingers to his temples, like he was trying to keep the memory inside. "You were scared. Terrified. You wanted a way to get away from him, but he was never going to stop, and you could never leave. So he had to. You'd make sure of it."

"And I told you all of this?" I asked. "Why don't I remember any of it?"

Isaac reached for me, and I let him.

"You wanted to protect me," he said. "You wanted him dead. I just did what you couldn't."
