Walk Through Hell

[15]

I woke up on the left side of the bed, with Jake almost falling off of his side.

I stared up at the ceiling, waiting for my eyes to adjust.

What day is it?

What time is it?

Am I supposed to be doing something?

SHIT!

Friday.

I looked over at the clock.

11:42

Wait... Don't I have...

SCHOOL!

Psht. School.

"Jaaaake." I gently shook him. "Jaaakey."

"Tomorrow." He mumbled.

"Uhmm... Jake?"

"Yeah, babe?" He was still asleep.

"Erm, It's Lexie."

"I know, babe."

"Why... Why are you calling me babe?"

There was a pause. "Because you're my babe." He mumbled through a yawn.

"Jake, wake uuup." I shook him reeeaaallly hard.

He rolled over from his side onto his back. He groggilly opened his eyes and smiled at me.

"You're happy this morning. Must have been some dream."

He looked at me a little funny. "Yeah."

"Well we missed school."

"What?"

"It's almost noon. By the time we get to school, if we try to go, it'll be one. What with getting dressed and breakfast and driving and such, which would only leave us with one hour of school, which doesn't even count as a full day. So we missed school."

"Sweeeet." He told me through a yawn. He plopped back down on his pillow. I plopped back down on mine.

We laid there for a little while, trying to fall back asleep.

Finally, I sat up again. I pulled the covers off of my bare legs. I tried to crawl out over Jake. I fell, and then started laughing.

"What..." he was still in a daze from sleeping. "Are you coming on to me?"

I started laughing even harder.

"Strange deranged woman," he whispered and closed his eyes.

I stopped laughing and yawned. I layed my head down on his chest, remembered where I was, and started laughing again. What's wrong with me? I have no idea.

Jake pushed me off of him and I rolled onto the floor as he rolled over. I was really awake now.

I wiped the tears of laughter from my eyes. "Banana pancakes?"

"Mgrmghgm." Pillow talk?

Haha. There I go again.

"Aight. Takin that as a yes."

I walked down stairs and started gathering my ingredients. The pancake box, what it calls for, and bananas.

Yeah, make it from scratch my ass.

Blah blah cups of mix.

Two eggs.

Some milk.

Bananas.

I started singing to myself.

Can't you see that it's just raining.
Ain't no need to go outside.
But Baby, You hardly even notice
When I try to show you this
Song is meant to keep ya
From doing what your supposed to
Like waking up too early
Maybe we can sleep in
Ill make you banana pancakes
Pretend like its the weekend now

And we could pretend it all the time
Cant you see that its just raining
Aint no need to go outside

Don't take me for much of a Jack Johnson kinda gal?

It's like one of my guilty pleasures of music.

Him and Wham!

Ten minutes later, I have two stacks of pancakes.

His was considerably larger than mine, that horse of a boy.

"Mmm. What smells good?" I heard from the stairs.

"Banana pancakes." I smiled and placed a big stick right under his nose at the counter.

"Oh. My. God. Iloveyou," He informed me before digging in.

I sat next to him and ate at a normal pace.

"So whatchya wanna do today?" This came after a biiig swallow.

I laughed. "Ahh, I don't know. It's pretty drab outside. I think it rained overnight."

"Yeah. Mall? There's a movie theater there. I can see if some other people can go."

"Uhh, what other people?"

"I don't know."

"As long as Missy isn't there, I'm in."

"Haha. Okay. I'll just call Ray and Ricky."

"Okay. Cool. I'll see who I can get to come. We can go terrorize the mall."

"I'll text one of the wonder idiots."

I went to go call Sam, from work. She was our age. She'd just dropped out. Technically, you were supposed to be 21 to bartend. Buuut, Spaides doesn't care too much.

She said she could go, so I called up my friend, Dane, who I hadn't seen in forever.

He could go too! Party!

So, after cleaning up the breakfast stuff, I went up stairs and got ready and junk.

Me and Jake drove there in his BMW Z4.

Daaaang. It's nice, it's nice.

I'm totally jealous.

This isn't the car he drives to school in. I guess this is his 'going out' car.

Damn.

"Saaaaam!"

"LESBIAN LEXXI!"

We ran together and hugged.

"Well that explains a lot." Ricky?

I turned around. "Playa, what it do?"

He laughed at me. "Uh, I'm good."

"You're that kid who gave her a ride home, right?" Sam asked Jake.

"Yeah. Jake." They introduced themselves again.

"I'm Ricky. That's Ray. Are you guys really lesbians?"

"Are you gonna hit on me if I say no?"

"Maybe."

She smiled. "No."

Ray rolled his eyes. I laughed. Then I saw Dane coming.

I smiled and waved at him. Jake saw my motions and looked over.

"Hey, kiddo. How's it goin?"

"Same as always. You?"

"Good. Introductions? Start with the kid glaring at me."

I looked to where he was pointing, a little confused.

"Uh, that's Jake. Next to him is Ray. Those two over there, Sam and Ricky." I pointed them out respectively. "Guys, this is Dane."

He smiled. "Nice to meet you. What are we seeing today?"

"Cloverfield?"

Everyone looked over and agreed.

While we were waiting in line, Sam kept flirting with Ricky and Ray and Dane engaged in a deep conversation about *rolls eyes* football.

We caught the movie just in time.

The seating was like this.

Dane. Ray. Ricky. Me. Sam. Jake.

Why we ended up like this, I don't know.

But, apparently, Sam had a problem with his.

Because she crawled over me pushed me over, so she could make eyes or something at Ricky.

I still love her.

=D

Well, in her process of pushing me over, I pretty much ran into Jake.

"Sorry," I whispered.

"It's okay," he whispered back.

The movie hadn't started yet. I don't know why we were whispering. But the theater was pretty quiet, except for the rest of our party, who was also speaking in hushed tones.

"Christ, do they have to make these theaters so cold?"

"Do you want my jacket?"

"No, I'll be fine."

"Sure?"

"Yeah. The movies starting."

Freaking A, It's cold.

Five minutes into the movie.

Sam and Ricky are whispering.

I'm still cold.

Twenty minutes.

Sam and Ricky are making out next to me.

I'm shivering.

I felt a zip-up hoodie being draped over my shoulder.

"I could feel you shivering from over here." I felt his warm breath on my cheek as he whispered in my ear.

"Thanks," I whispered back.

"Your welcome."

I turned around to say something back. He hadn't turned his head yet, and our faces were like...

| |

That far apart.

He opened his mouth, about to say something.

His top lip grazed mine, just from opening.

He looked straight from my eyes down to my lips, and we both leaned just a hair closer.

And that was enough.

It was soft.

Both of our heads were titled just a little.

It was the softest kiss I'd ever had.

Our lips parted a little bit.

The kiss started getting deeper...

CRASH!

The loud noise coming from the speakers all around the theater brought us both back to life. We simultaneously snapped forward.

I glanced to my left to see Sam and Ricky still making out with their eyes closed, and Ray and Dane staring intently at the screen, shoveling popcorn into their mouths.

I sighed with relief.

Until I saw Ricky wink at me.

I flushed.

Oh shit.
