Pushing Me Away

I Can't Wait To See Tomorrow, With You

(Luna's POV/Narrator)

I couldn't exactly describe how it felt the moment I was being rolled out in a wheelchair, inhaling all the fresh and new scents of the outside that I hadn't had the chance to enjoy until now. And then getting inside of Chester's car, that was one of the best moments. I cried, I cried hard. Chester was nothing but understanding as placed his hand on top of mine as I rested it on the center console, making butterflies erupt instantly in my stomach. "You're going to finally be able to really get to see things a whole lot differently from now on. You're going to really like my house, too. It's...cozy." I chuckled softly as he tried his hardest to get me to smile. Thankfully it worked and I was in fact grinning like an idiot as I began to picture the place. When we finally pulled into the small driveway, I was pretty shocked to say the least. He raced around from the drivers side to open the door for me, helping me out gently out of my seat and onto solid ground. It felt weird to finally be able to use my legs but he helped every step of the way as we walked up slowly to his front door. The outside of the house was calm and inviting; it was a dark blue color with a solid black door. The sounds of barking could be heard from coming inside as we walked in and soon we were being met face to face with a small black puppy who insisted on licking my entire face. "This is King. He's only three months old. I had gotten him as therapy dog for you for when you finally moved in here." My face instantly drained of all color as I heard him say that.

Luna latched onto Chester tightly, tears pouring down her face as she couldn't believe what he had done for her. He rubbed soothing circles into the small of her back before insisting that it was something that simply needed to be done. "The guys took turns looking after him while I was with you. He likes you already too, it was obviously meant to be. Come on, lets go look where the guys set you up." Chester beamed brightly at Luna as he took her hand in his and lead the two more inside the house. The living room was littered with posters, pictures, framed records, everything that a musician should have in their home and Luna was immediately entranced by all of it. "I can't believe you live here, it's awesome." Luna breathed as she looked through the countless magazines that were scattered on the small coffee table. Chester grinned, squeezing her shoulder lightly. "Well, you live here now too, so that makes it even more awesome." The two stared at each other momentarily before smiling big. "You really do know that you're an absolute saint, don't you?" Chester chuckled softly, shaking his head. "It's just who I am, you know? I've always put others before myself and I've always cared deeply about everyone who crosses my path. Meeting you just gave me even more reassurance that I was put here on this Earth to help make it better whether it be through my music or some other thing. Do you want to hear some of the stuff off the new album first?"

Without any hesitation the two soon found themselves huddled in a small room that Chester had called his 'studio', listening to his band's newest CD that they had put out only months ago. The first song came on without much warning which was titled "Numb" and Luna couldn't help but to be entranced by it and before she even could catch herself, she was crying. Every word that was being sung, every melody, ever chorus, it all spoke to her. It all felt like it was speaking the truth about everything. About how she felt, about how her marriage felt, about how everything felt. Chester soon caught on and changed it, quickly apologizing to her for the upset. Luna wiped her eyes on her sleeve, laughing softly. "No no, it's fine you don't have to be sorry for anything. I like it, you have an incredible voice and your song writing is phenomenal. Keep showing me more, I have a lot to catch up on." And so they did, for the next three and a half hours to be exact. Chester showed her every demo, every song on the last two albums, every song he had practically ever written that wasn't on a record, he showed it all to her. And Luna was nothing but grateful for it, she was in love with it all.

"Wow, I had no idea it was already almost eight. Time sure does fly when you're bonding over music. Are you hungry? We can eat here or go out somewhere. It's totally your call, anything you want." I pondered for a minute. I hadn't eaten a proper home cooked meal in months seeing as Adam had never cooked for me, so I definitely took up on the opportunity when Chester offered. "I've never had someone else cook for me besides my own parents so if you're offering, then I'd love to eat here." Chester didn't say anything but grinned wickedly at me before instructing me to go and relax in the living room while he got everything together. I did as he asked and sat down on the large sofa with King soon curling up at my feet, bringing a rather large smile to my face. He was perfect, this house was perfect, Chester was perfect. There really weren't any other words to describe it all besides that one. I looked around the entire room, seeing that there weren't any pictures of Chester and Ava up anymore, meaning that the guys must have removed every trace of her before I had gotten there. Not that I would have minded if there was though, because that was his life way before I had even existed, I couldn't really just expect to him up and forget about it all. Even if it was as horrible as mine, I know deep down he still had that sense of love just like I did.

As I kept my mind occupied for a while longer, eventually the different aromas of food all caught up to me and my mouth started to water. "I hope you're not like, allergic to vegetables or anything." I couldn't help myself but to giggle as I saw Chester poke his head out from inside the kitchen with a semi worried look on his face. "No, I'm not allergic to anything, you'll be fine." I said with a small laugh. A smile reappeared on his lips before he quickly disappeared back inside again without another word. "But if you don't hurry, I might start eating your sofa!" I teased, seeing King stare up at me with a puzzled expression on his cute, furry face. "No, I won't eat you, you're too damn cute." I said softly before scratching him behind his tiny ears. Finally after what felt like an eternity, Chester reappeared out of the kitchen this time with two huge plates in his hands. He carefully sat them down on the small coffee table in front of me before taking the spot beside me and handing me a set of cutlery. "Oh my God. You-You made all this?!" He smiled with a light chuckle. "Well, in my defense, you did say you never had someone else cook for you before AND you also haven't eaten much since this whole ordeal even happened, so I wanted to make it the best damn home cooked meal for you that I possibly could. Did I answer that pretty correctly?" I couldn't hide the grin on my face as I looked over at him, seeing a playful smirk tug on his lips. God, he was so damn perfect.

We ate in silence mostly, only sometimes stopping to talk about what we wanted to do tomorrow and every so often King would whine and beg for me to give him a treat which, I almost always did until finally we wrapped it up around ten at night. I opted for helping Chester do the dishes but he insisted that it was no problem for him to do it regardless if he had just cooked a full meal for the two of us, he wanted me to just take it easy and adjust to my new surroundings. Not that it was that hard to, I actually felt very comfortable from the moment that I had walked in through the front door. When he eventually finished and joined me on the sofa once again, he had two bowls in each of his hands. "Dessert, to finish this off right." I beamed happily at him before taking it from him excitedly. It was a chocolate sundae complete with all the fixings; nuts, cherries, whipped cream, and sprinkles. He then flipped on the TV, browsing through a good ten channels at least, before stopping at one of my all time favorite movies, Halloween. "You're not afraid of stuff like this, are you?" I shook my head violently before shushing him instantly as the title music began to play. Scary movies were always a serious interest of mine and when I had started to write stories, a lot of them were influenced mostly by that genre. I almost even had the chance to write my own script for a horror film, but Adam quickly shut that idea down once we had gotten engaged. I had to end everything for him. But not anymore, that was all a thing in the past. Especially since now I had Chester.

(Chester's POV/Narrator)

I watched closely out of the corner of my eye as Luna kept her stare fixed to the screen. Clearly she must enjoy this movie otherwise she wouldn't have politely told me to shut up before the beginning started. I admired deeply at how content and happy she looked while she was digging into her ice cream as the movie progressed. I couldn't help but to smile, it made me feel like the luckiest man in the world to be able to spoil someone again and to actually have someone reciprocate the appreciative and mutual feelings that I was. Not long after we had both finished our sundaes, I noticed Luna's eyes starting to get heavy and drift in and out. "Hey, it's okay if you're tired, we can go to bed and always watch this tomorrow." She tried to fight me on it but eventually gave in and admitted that she was indeed exhausted. I cleared up the mess from the living room before leading her into the back rooms and pointing out where hers was. She stared at it wide eyed, seeing the large bed covered in a thick black comforter and blankets. "This is my room?" I nodded, suddenly seeing an uneasy look come to her face. "What's wrong? Is it too much?" She shook her head, sighing some. "No, I'm sorry, it's perfect. It's just-I don't-It's been so long since I've had anything of my own again and being alone just seems to weird to me." Everything had made sense as I put a hand to her shoulder, giving it a gentle squeeze. "Come on."

She followed alongside me closely into my room before telling me she was going to change down into something more comfortable. Not wanting to seem too strong, I decided to sleep in my boxers along with my shorts in hopes of making Luna feel more at ease that I wasn't going to try and make any sort of unannounced of move towards her. Although these last few weeks I had thought about what it would be like if I ever got the chance to kiss her, that much was true. When she reappeared, she was in a plain black shirt and a pair of grey sweats that oddly enough matched the color of her eyes. I pulled back the covers before slowly climbing in with her and King soon following suit. I switched off the light once she was fully in a comfortable position, whispering "Goodnight." as softly as I could, almost as if I was afraid to even say it. I suddenly felt her scoot closer towards me until her hand was resting on my bare chest. "Goodnight, Chester. I can't wait to see what tomorrow with you is like." She whispered back to me. I then decided to rest my free hand on top of hers and giving it a reassuring squeeze. "Me too, Luna. I can't wait to see tomorrow with you either."
