Must Be Fate

Chapter 1- Chance Meetings.

I can honestly say that when I woke up this morning I had not thought that the today would turn out the way it did. I’m an Early Childhood Educator so I work as a team with a teacher. The day started off great as we were starting to plan our classroom Halloween party that was a couple weeks away. However just before it was time for the children to go home, a little boy in my kindergarten class threw up all over me. Thankfully it happened at home time so I didn’t have to sit in class with vomit all over me. All I wanted to do was go home shower and change into clean clothes

As soon as I walked through my apartment door all you could smell was vomit.

“Oh my god! Why does it smell like vomit?” Izzie asked as she pokes her head out of the kitchen doorway. Izzie was testing out new recipes for her cafe. But even the smell of freshly baked cookies couldn’t mask the smell of my clothes.

“Haha, that would be me,” I replied as I walked further into the house. “Good way to end the school day eh” I added as I walked towards my bathroom so I could have a nice hot shower.
After a relaxing shower, I put on my black lulu lemon leggings and my grey Georgetown University sweatshirt and made my way to the laundry room in the basement of our apartment

“Guys I’m going to head downstairs to the laundry room so I can wash these clothes” I called out to my roommates as I walked past the kitchen towards the front door.

“Have fun” yelled Izzie.

As I was turning into the doorway of the laundry room I was knocked onto the ground by someone.

“I’m so sorry” was all I heard in the cutest accent.

As I looked up I all I noticed was how tall dark and handsome he was. He had his hand out so he could help me up.

I couldn’t stop looking into his brown eyes as he gently helped me up.

“It’s my fault I wasn’t paying attention to where I was going,” I said smiling as he pulled me back onto my feet.

I couldn’t help but notice the way his biceps looked in the white t-shirt he was wearing.

“I’m Andre.” He said looking into my blue eyes and sticking his hand out for me to shake.

“I’m Hailey,” I said smiling as I gave him a handshake.

As soon as our hands touched I felt butterflies in my stomach.

“It’s nice to meet you, Hailey” Andre said giving me a breathtaking smile.

“Nice to meet you too.”

“I have a meeting I have to get to but I hope to see you again soon.” He said as he looked at the clock on the wall of the laundry room.

As he walked out the door I couldn’t help but watch him leave. He had to have been the cutest guy I have ever met. His accent alone made butterflies erupt in my stomach, even as I remembered him saying my name. This memory would be etched into my brain forever. It’s kind of ironic that I met such a cute guy in the laundry room. Seeing as for the last couple of years I made fun of my parents for meeting in the laundry room because I just couldn’t even imagine that ever happening in today’s society.

Once my laundry was done I raced upstairs to tell my roommates about the mysterious Andre. I had so many questions for him. The first one being where he was from because I couldn’t quite figure out where his accent was from.

“You’ll never believe what just happened !” I exclaimed as I threw my house key on the side table in the front room in a rush and running into the Lounge room. Once in the room, I noticed that Katie, Izzie, and Brittney were playing cards so I placed my laundry basket on the floor then jumped on the couch landing on Brittney and sending the cards flying.

“Oomph” was all I heard from Britt as she tried to catch her breath.

“I just met the hottest guy ever” I exclaimed as I shimmed further back into the couch

“In the laundry room?” Katie questioned.

“Hahaha, that’s hilarious! Mother like daughter” added Brittney.

“Oh my, his accent was the hottest thing I ever heard... his eyes, his smile and he definitely works out because he was so muscular,” I said as I sighed remembering Andre.

“Who would have thought that you would meet someone the same way your parents did over 25 years ago. I definitely thought you would have to use an app to find love” Katie snickered.

“Hahaha... like tinder,” Brittney added as she doubled down from laughing so hard.

“Omg stop... my mom literally asked me on the phone last night if I wanted them to buy me a subscription to match.com” I replied while rolling my eyes. “They have no faith that I will find the one without the help of a dating app or website.”

“Well did you get his number? Katie asked as she wiggled her eyebrows up and down suggestively. “Because if he did you may not need to create a tinder account.” She added laughing.

“Well... no” I said looking down at my feet disappointed. “But he did say that he hopes to see me again.”

Izzie came back with wine and we spent the night drinking wine and watching chick flicks.

The next morning I decided to go to Izzie's Cafe for some much-needed coffee before work.

Lizzie knows my ordering off by heart so my coffee was always waiting for me as soon as I walked into the cafe. As I was walking up to the counter to get my coffee I heard the accent that has been in my head since meeting Him. I turned around and saw Andre ordering a coffee.

‘Come on Hailey play it cool’ I told myself. So since I had some time before I had to be at the school I grabbed a seat at an empty table.

After Andre received his coffee he turned around to leave but his eyes locked with mine and a small smirk started to form on his face. Once he noticed an empty seat at my table he started to confidently stride towards my table.

“Is this seat taken?” as he flashed me his breathtaking smile.

“It’s reserved for this cute guy I met in my apartment laundry room last night” I flirted giving him a smile.

Andre looked at me and sat down across from me.

“This is two times I’ve bumped into someone this good looking in two days. I’m just wondering why I haven’t seen you before seeing as I’ve lived in the apartment for the last couple of years!” Asked Andre after taking a sip of his black coffee.

“Well, I’ve lived in this apartment for about a year. I’ve also been coming to this Cafe every day since my best friend owns it.”

“Wow, your friends' cafe is awesome. My teammates and I come here all the time before morning skate”

“Your teammates?” I questioned giving him a look of confusion.

“I play for the Washington Capitals” he replied.

“Oh, that makes sense.” I laughed.

Andre reached over the table and placed his hand on top of mine looking into my eyes.
“Would you like to go on a proper date with me? One where I pick you up and try really hard to impress you, just hoping for a good night kiss at the end of the night.” He asked giving me a breathtaking smile.

I couldn’t help but smile as I replied
“Maybe... but only if you score me a goal tonight!”

“Deal. I will leave you some tickets for tonight's game so you can watch me score!” he replied as he winked at me. The confidence oozing from his voice.

“Good luck Andre,” I said laughing as I walked out of the cafe leaving him sitting at the table.
