Chapter 2
The bell rang and everyone took their seats
“I trust that you all had a old holiday! Check the bulletin board for sign up sheets on new activities, Mr. Bolton! Especially our winter musical. I stopped listening and pulled out a pencil and began sketching on a fresh sheet of paper. Suddenly everybody’s cell phone began going off. Even mine. I gasped and quickly went for it clicking my lock button to cut the noise.
“Ahhh the cell phone menace has returned to the crucible of learning” Ms. Dubrus picked up a bucket
“Sharpay, Ryan, cellphones and I will see you in detention !”she said.the girl Sharpay gasped and put hers in. Ryan glanced at me with a smirk and put his in.
“We have a 0 tolerance for cellphone use in class so we will get to know each-other very well miss Montez” ms Darbus said snatching gabs phone. Stupid me I was holding my phone and she walked over and snatched mine
“Hey I wasn’t using mine”I said with annoyance
“If I see it out it belongs to me until after detention. Which you will be joining us” she said tossing my phone in. I rolled my eyes
“Yippee” I said sarcastically.
“I could give you a weeks worth if you’d prefer with your snarky tone me Montez” ms Darbus said bitterly.
“Okay?” I said crossing my arms “Jess” I heard gab whisper to me. I looked back at her and sighed
“My apologies ms darbus” I said unenthusiastically. She nodded
“See you in detention and welcome to east high ms Montez sisters. Me. Bolton I see your cellphone is involved so we will see you in detention as well” ms darbus barked. The guy behind him shook his head
“No no no that’s not even a possibility your honor, ms darbus, we have basketball practice and Troy-“
“Ah! That will be 15 minutes for you too mr dansforth count um!” Ms darbus said angrily.
A girl in the back was whispering something
“Taylor McKessy 15 minutes! Shall the punish continue?!” Ms. Darbus yelled slamming down the bucket of phones on the Bolton guys desk.
“Holliday’s are over students! Way over! Now any more comments?” Ms Darbus asked. A student behind the girl named Taylor raised his hand.
“Jason!” Ms Darbus asked
“So..how were your holidays Ms Darbus?” He asked. We all looked back at him in annoyance
“What?” He asked and saved by the bell. I picked up my stuff quickly and hurried out
Heading to my locker. Once I got there I heard someone call my name.
“Jessie wait up” I looked seeing Ryan. I smiled putting my bag in my locker and only takin my art supplies
“Hey Ryan whats up” I asked closing my locker
“Are you gonna sign up for the winter musical?” Ryan asked leaning on the lockers.
“Oh uh..haven’t really thought about that.. I’ve never really sang with other people around so I’m not sure how I’d do” I said rubbing my arm nervously
“Well maybe when we get we chance you could sing me a song” he smirked. I blushed
“Psh, dream on.. I don’t sing in front of anybody” I said blushing
“Cool so I’ll come over after school today. You have a guitar?” He asked in amusement. My jaw dropped just a bit. He was smooth....
“I don’t know Ryan...what if I suck?” I said blushing
“Something is really just screaming at me that you don’t...here’s my cell number text me after detention” he said smiling and walked off. I looked down at the paper and saw his number and his name with a Heart next to it. I giggled and put the paper in my sketch pad and walked to class. As I was walking to art class I noticed the bulletin board with the musical signup ms. I bit my lip thinking about what Ryan told me
“Thinking about signing up? We always welcome newcomers and we always need supporting roles and I’m sure you’d fit in for something” the annoying blonde said smiling as she blinked twice but a tight knot formed in my stomach remembering something from the past...
“Uhh I was just seeing if my sister had signed up..I’m not much of a show bizz person..I gotta get to art class now...” I said and hurried off awkwardly.
