A Painful Life

Yumi's POV

Despite the intense fear and hatred rushing through my veins, I recollected myself and turned my head ever so slightly to look at Orochimaru. His tongue seeped out from his mouth to hungrily lick his lips.

"You," I hissed as anger dwelled up inside me. "What do you want from me?"

He extended an arm towards me. "Your powers, of couse. What else would I want?"

I flinched a little but attemped to keep a cool in my voice. "Isn't yours enough?"

Orochimaru pressed a finger against his temple. He closed his eyes for a moment, briefly shaking his head.

"No, nothing is enough. I want power that exceeds everyone, power that is capable of wipingout the whole world with the least effort required. I want you to help me and give me your own power."

"Tch. As if I'd give you anything."

He narrowed his eyes. "Oh?" He gave a small laugh that sent chills up my spine."Well... if you put it that way, I will just remind you about your clan's death."

"So? What about it?" I muttered through gritted teeth.

Orochimaru gave another laugh. Only this one was of amusement. "It was really fun, killing your parents, I mean. They were a pleasure."

My hand gripped my heart. "What?" I suddenly gasped.

"To think it was strange...To think I'd come right back for you after your catastrophe. You fell into my trap...you ran away.

"You'll pay for that," I said, slowly geting into my fighting stance.

Orochimaru began to laugh hysterically. His laugh reminded me of that day... My head spun as everything began to twist and turn. In a blink of an eye, everything began to fade and I sat up from bed, covered in sweat.

"Double bad dream...A horrible nightmare that felt so real like it was a vision," I panted, staring at my shaking hands.

It was only in a matter of seconds that my alarm went of. I sighed and turned it off. The clock read 6:30a.m. I closed my eyes and shook my head to rid the after-feeling from the nightmare I recently had and headed for the bathroom. When I finished up my morning routine, I quietly walked into the kitchen. It was empty like usual. There, I decided to make a mental note to myself to buy some food sometime later when I'm busy. But today, I'm in the mood to eat out since there was a ramen bar not far from my home.

I left the house, locking the door behind me as I effortlessly searched for the ramen bar. My arrival only took a minute. The sign read Ichiraku's. I grinned to myself and took a seat beside a blonde haired boy who was dressed in an orange jumpsuit. I gawked at the twelve empty bowls neatly stacked up in front of him.

"Hello," the chef girl said with a warm smile.

My attention turned from the boy to a lady with pretty brown hair and warm brown eyes.

I grinned."Oh, hiya!"

"Hi, I'm Ayame. Pleased to meet you. What would you like?"

"I'm Kyoro Yumi. Nice to meet you, too. I'd like one Miso Ramen, please."

She gave a little chuckle. "Coming right up."

I waited patiently. As I did, I turned my attention back to the boy. He noticed me watching him and gaped at me, anime sweat-dropping.

"So, you're new here, huh?" He began slowly.

Author's POV

Yumi rested her chin on the palms of her hands. "Umm..yes, I am," she answered with a small smile.

"So..what's your name?"

The boy in the orange jumpsuit pushed his empty bowl towards the stack. He sqiunted his eyes at Yumi with a semi-curious expression.

"Kyoro Yumi. Yours?"

"Uzumaki Naruto," he said placing his hands at the back of his neck, leaning back slightly in his chair. He began to question to himself in a hushed voice that Yumi could overhear. "Hmm, I've heard that name before...I think.....somewhere...But where?"

Yumi raised an eyebrow, confused. How does he know about me..? How has he heard my name before..? Can he be one of Orochimaru's henchmen? She thought, then slowly shook her head. No...impossible. Not likely.

Ayame interrupted her thoughts with her bowl of ramen. Yumi thanked her as she walked away. Her mouth began to water. The ramen looked absolutely delicious. It was hot and steamy, but not too hot. Just right. Pleased, she clapped her hands together with a grin. "Itadakimasu (1) !"

Yumi finished her bowl clean. She paid her bill, leaving them a generous tip, and headed straight for the Hokage's office. She gently knocked on the door and entered the room.

"Goodmorning, Lord Hokage," Yumi greeted with a formal bow.

"Good day, Yumi. How do you enjoy your new home?" he asked.

" I love it, thank you. Other than that, I had a dream..Well I'm not sure if it's actually a dream or a vision..," she said.

"What was your dream, Yumi?" the Hokage asked steadily.

"I dreamed that I was in a forest. I saw Orochimaru. Orochimaru attacked me. He wanted my powers and was about to eat me up but I woke up. It was also a dream. Then I saw Orochimaru behind me and he said that it was fun killing my parents." Yumi told him rapidly in choppy sentences.

The Hokage's face turned grim. Just as I feared. Orochimaru contacted Yumi through her dreams. If she ever gets angered, her Dragon Demon chakra will be unleashed and out village will possibly be in life threatening danger., he thought. He looked at Yumi. "I'm pretty sure it is nothing but a mere dream. Now, Yumi, you must go. Your team will be waiting for you at the bridge."

"Okay," she said with a nod, and bid him farewell.

As the Hokage watched her leave, another thought floated into his head. I should keep a better eye on Yumi or else something might happen to her.

Yumi's POV

I walked out of the Hokage's office. I saw the man I've met yesterday standing in front of me.

"Oh..hello," I said with a disgusted look.

"Goodmorning, Yumi," the man with grey hair said.

"You know me?" My eyebrows shot up.

"Oh, yes. My name is Hatake Kakashi. I will be your sensei for Squad 7."

"Oh! Really? That's awesome!" I gave a huge smile. Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!

"Wait right here," he ordered.

"O—," I began but before I could finished, he poofed into thin air. "—'Kay," I finished.

Kakashi's POV

I disappeared to the bridge, where my three students waited for me. "Goodmorning, everyone! I'm sorry I'm late, I—."

Naruto and Sakura growled at me with fists waving in the air. "YOU LIAR!!"

I anime sweat-dropped, holding both of my hands up in surrender. "Alright, alright. Team today I have a surprise for you. From today and onward, you will be having a new team member."

"What's her name?" Sakura asked with curiosity.

"Yumi, Kyoro Yumi."

"Kyoro Yumi...Yumi..Yumi.. Kyoro..Kyoro...Kyoro Yumi—Uuuuhhh, I've heard that name before..—— OHHHHH!!! I know!! She's that girl I met at Ichiraku's Ramen Shop this morning!!"

I sighed, exasperated."We are all atleast a feet to a yard away from each other. No need to yell. We can all hear you."

"Gee, sorry," Naruto apologized.

Without further warning I disappeared back to the previous place I was at. Yumi stared at me, her face hinting of what looked like dislike towards me. "You're back," she said. It wasn't a question but I nodded anyways.

"Come on." I rested my hands on her shoulders and transported us back at the bridge. "Everyone, meet Kyoro Yumi."

Yumi's POV

I looked at each of the three kids infont of me: A blonde haired boy with sky blue eyes that I've met at the Ichiraku Ramen Shop, a bubble gum pink haired girl with emerald green eyes, and a chicken butt black haired boy with the eyes of pitch black nothingness. I wanted to laugh and make a joke out of it right now but, to be honest, he was super gorgeous. So I kept it to myself.

I nodded a greeting.

"Hey, I saw you at the ramen bar today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Naruto and I said suddenly, pointing each other in the face.

Kakashi sighed.

Author's POV

"CHAAAA!! ALRIGHT, ALRIGHT!! THIS LITTE RED HEAD PROBABLY WON'T STEAL MY SASUKE-KUN AFTER ALL!!' Inner Sakura screamed.

Sakura smiled, sweetly. "Hi, there! Welcome to our village!"

Kakashi gestured at the students. "This is Haruno Sakura, Uzumaki Naruto, Uchiha Sasuke, and of course, I am Hatake Kakashi."

"Nice to meet you all," I said.

Everyone replied kindly, except Uchiha Sasuke, who only managed a snort. We all took a few minutes to know more about each other.

Apparently, the Uchiha kid isn't very social and nice. Yumi thought, narrowing her eyes a little.

Kakashi, who noticed my facial expression gave a little chuckle. "Well then, today I am going to give you a day off. Since Yumi is here, why don't you all show her around so she can get familiar with the village. Tomorrow we are going to begin our trainings and missions. Meet me at this exact same place at 5 a.m.

"Alright" Naruto, Sakura, and I answered with a nod. Only Sasuke answered differently.

"Whatever," he said, walking in the opposite direction.

"Sasuke-kun, where are you going?" Sakura called out.

"A walk."

"Wa-Wait!! I'll go with you!" She said, flustered and ran after him.

"Losers," Yumi said under her breath.

Later that day..

"Thanks so much, Naruto! I really had so much fun today!" Yumi exclaimed, waving her hand.

Naruto waved back. "No problem! I'll see you tomorrow, goodnight!"

The next day..

Yumi woke up, energized. She quickly did her daily routine and headed off towards the bridge.

Well..since the old jeezer is now my teacher, I'd better start calling him Kakashi-sensei so I won't sound rude.. She thought as she walked.

"Goodmorning," Yumi said to everyone.

" 'Morning, Yumi-chan," Naruto grumbled, half-awake.

"Goodmorning," Sakura said with a cheerful smile.

Sasuke said....nothing.

"Uh...rude much?" Yumi said with her eyebrows raised.

He walked off.

Hours of waiting started to bore Yumi so she entertained herself with some Genjutsu. She made a replica of Kakashi-sensei.

Naruto pointed at it. "Whoa! Kakashi finally came early!" he yelled.

"Sorry to make it seem like I'm pouring cold water on you guys but it's just a replica of him.

"Oh...man. I knew it was too good to be true," Sakura and Naruto anime sweat-dropped.

Another hour crawled by. Yumi kicked stoned in frustration.

"Okay, I don't know about you guys—sometimes people have important things that come up but this is RIDICULOUS!!"

"I KNOW RIGHT?? HE ALWAYS COMES UP LATE AND MAKES UP EXCUSES!" Naruto shouted with his fist waving in the air.

I shook my head and began to walk.

"Wait, what if Kakashi comes?" Naruto asked.

"Don't worry, just tell him I left for a walk. It's not like he's going to kill me or anything."

Yumi just turned when Kakashi appeared. Yumi spun around, startled.

"Hi, there," Kakashi said with a little salute.

"Oh...hi," Yumi's eye twitched with annoyance.

"My alarm was broken. I apologize." His head drooped.

"YEAH RIGHT!!" we all shouted.

"Heh, alright. Today we're going to test Yumi's abilities and weaknesses so I will know what to help you with the most. First, you will climb trees to improve your skills."

"What?? Again!? But we already did that when we took Tazuna to the land of waves!!" Naruto complained with a loud moan.

"Well, Naruto, you will do it again with evreryone else. Keep complaining and you'll climb it for the whole day. After that, you will practive throwing kunais and shurikens. But this is all done after Yumi fights me," Kakashi said.

Everyone's jaws dropped to the floor. "What?!"
