I'll Never Run Away

Part Seven

I fiddled with my thumbs as I waited for the make-up artist to come in. When the door opened, I breathed a sigh of relief only to groan. Instead of the woman I was expecting to see, Trace stood there with a confused expression on his face.

"You go out with me on one date and then never wanna see me again? Was it really that bad?"

"Of course not. I just hate the waits for Karen."

"Ah. Okay. Can I help you be more entertained?"

"Sure, why not."

So, he kissed me. Not an innocent peck, but a full-blown liplock. I wrapped my arms around his neck and rose to my feet. He chuckled, low, and pulled me closer. We didn't hear the soft knock on the door. Nor did we hear someone entering the room. What we did hear, though, was:

"Oh, my freaking God! Ew! Nasty! Despicable! Kids in the room!"

I jumped away from Trace to see a girl with acid-green streaks in her bright pink hair, wide brown eyes, and a natural tan I could never accomplish, standing in the doorway, pulling a grossed-out face. Mason and Karen appeared right behind her; I could see the others in the background.

"Erin, stop being so over-dramatic. Taige, this is my girlfriend, Erin. Babe, meet Taige."

"Hi."

"Hi."

Erin grinned widely. "So is Trace a good kisser?"
