Her New Disguise is Butterflies

The weather matched my mood. Miserable. It was pouring with rain, creating puddles where the road and pavement dipped slightly. I'd not gone into school on Monday, and I knew the nosy receptionists had phoned the house. I over heard Joanne spinning them a lie, she told them I was sick, throwing up and stuff, which would've been true a couple of nights ago. My hangover had cleared, but I still wasn't myself. I thought maybe I'd cried myself dry, but I hadn't. I was up all night, watching stupid romantic films, tears streaming down my face.
I pretended me and Josh could be like Ron and Hermione in Harry Potter, or Jean Gray and Cyclops, without the dying and the laser eyes, or maybe we'd be Billy and Kate in Gremlins minus the monsters. I need to stop with the character comparisons.
I stabbed the 'off' button on my DVD player not wishing to sit through anymore. No matter what DVD I pushed into the player, I always found there was some romance element to it. Even the bloodthirsty horrors had romance. I'd only got halfway through Sleepy Hollow before wanting to chop off Johnny Depp and Christina Ricci's heads myself.
In the silence of the house, I sighed to myself, watching the heavy rain hit my window and slide down it. Each drop disappearing, leaving a damp trail behind. I glanced at my clock, knowing they'd be out of school by now.
I stood up, throwing open my wardrobe and pulling out a pair of jeans, a top and a hoodie. I needed some fresh air. Maybe the rain could wash away all my thoughts and feelings, leaving me empty, with nothing to worry about or over think. I exchanged my pyjamas for the clothes and slipped my feet into my shoes, heading downstairs and stepping out into the rain. Joanne had taken Oliver out to get the weekly food shop, and good luck to her, he'd more than likely have a tantrum in the sweet aisle, and dad was at work all day, boring people to death with his knowledge of stereos and laptops and whatever else they sell there.
I locked the door behind me, shoving my keys into my pocket and set off walking down the street, in the direction away from school. I didn't really want to bump into anyone I know and be accused of skiving. It annoyed me to the fullest, and I didn't need it right now.
Josh was probably already loved up with Jenny Darby. She was better for him than I ever could be, I don't know why I even thought maybe something could have happened between us. It was stupid of me.
"Bliss!"
I carried on walking, shoving my hands into my hoodie pockets. My clothes were slowly becoming drenched with each rain droplet and the water was already being soaked up by my jeans. It wouldn't be long before I looked as though I'd been for a swim in the murky waters of the river.
"Bliss!" A hand came into contact with my shoulder and I was spun around to see Sacha looking at me, her bag had fallen off her shoulder and she moved it back up, trying to turn her umbrella the right way around, as it had turned inside out from the wind.
"Sacha, leave me alone," I said, turning to walk away.
"No! Bliss! For god's sake, talk to me!" She struggled with her umbrella, before holding it over both of us, shielding us from the rain drops. I stepped away from it, wanting to be refreshed by the water falling from the clouds above.
"What do you want me to say? How happy I am for you and Max? Would you like me to plaster on a fake smile and pretend I'm fine, when I'm clearly not o-fucking-kay?!"
"Bliss, you've ignored my calls, and texts and I'm worried about you. Polly said you were a wreck."
I shrugged. "Forget it, Sash, go and run off back to Max."
She stepped forward and linked her arm through mine, sighing dreamily. "He's so not the person I thought he was, you know."
I pulled my arm out of her grasp and stepped away, giving her a death glare. "No, Sacha, no. Stop right there. I don't want to know how far you've got with Max or anything like that. I honestly don't give a damn. There I said it. Run off and tell someone else."
She shook her head, looking hurt. "Why can't you just be pleased for me?"
"Stop being so selfish, it's not about you. The world doesn't revolve for you! The sun doesn't shine to keep you alive! I'm sorry, Sacha, but you aren't the only person on this planet who matters. I hate you!" I screamed at her, stopping and gasping as the words left my mouth.
"Friendship over, Bliss, find someone else to complain to," she said, quietly, pushing past me and hurrying along the road to her house.
Tears began running down my cheeks, mixing in with the rain that was already soaking my skin. I broke into a run, the cold wind bit at my face, making it break out in goosebumps. I rounded the corner and bumped into something, making me stumble back.
"Bliss, are you okay?"
I looked up to see Josh looking down at me, his hood up to shield his head from the rain.
"Fine," I mumbled, sniffling and wiping my cheeks.
"Come here," he said, opening his arms. I took a step forward, about to fall into his arms and resume my sobbing, when she came hobbling around the corner in twelve inch heels. A tiny denim skirt showed off her pasty stick like legs and she was struggling with her cheap umbrella, a similar one to what Sacha owned.
"Josh!" She shrieked.
I looked up at Josh, tears flooding from my eyes, frozen to the spot until she reached us.
Jenny kissed his cheek and laced her fingers with his one icy ones. "Hi babe," she smiled up at him, then glanced at me. "Oh Bliss, are you feeling any better? I heard you had a nasty hangover."
I let out a huge sob and ran away from them, ignoring Josh's calls for me to come back.

It gets happier, I promise.
