The Adopted Romance

Chapter 11-Sailing

Heather's POV:
"Well, it's only quarter to twelve, and we're finished shopping. What do ya wanna do, Heather?" Blake asked
"Well... hmm. Why don't we go sailing?" I suggested
"One problem. None of us no how to sail!" Gerald pointed out.
"I do. I went sailing a lot with my parents, and once or twice with the orphanage.I 'm pretty good, I'll teach you" I answered smiling.
"Okay then. On the bus we go!" Ordered Mick.
*~^ A WHILE LATER ^~*
"Yay, we're here!" I yelled excitedly, jumping off the bus.
"So... what kind of boat are we sailing?" Asked Steve
"A Heron." I replied, walking into the boat shed.
"Isn't that a bird?" Asked Rob.
"Yeah, but it's also the kind of boat that I used to sail." I answered." And here they are! Can you guys help me lift this one out to the shore?" I asked, pointing to a red boat named [Yes,boats DO have names! My heron's name is Thunderbolt lol] Helena [...XD].
"Man, this thing is heavy!" Grunted Gerald.
"Yeah, I know. Just keep moving." I said encouragingly. Once we reached the shore, I set up the boat and gave them all a short, basic lesson on how to sail.
"I'll be skippering [Steering] and I'll take you guys out one at a time. When I say that we are going to tack, that means that I'm going to turn the boat to another direction. I will need you to swap that rope onto the other side. The most important thing to remember though is to duck! The boom, which is what holds the sail out horizontally, will swing across to the other side and if you don't duck it will hit you. And it hurts. Trust me. Thats all you need to know for now." I instructed, smiling. "So who wants to go first?"I asked
"I will." Said Blake.
"Awesome. Here, put on these wetsuits and come back when you're done." I said, handing all the guys wetsuits." The bathrooms should be in the shed. "I said, pointing to the bathroom door. When they got back, I took the boat into the water and waited for Blake to get in.
"Okay,we're off!" I cheered. We sailed on a bit before we needed to tack.
"Blake, we're gonna tack in about three seconds. Get that rope ready to change over." I warned him
"Okay." He answered unhooking the rope.
"Aaand now!" I called. He tacked perfectly and remembered to duck too.
"Excellent! Let's head back now." I said.
"Sure." He agreed. When we reached the shore, the rest of the guys helped us keep the boat at the shore.
"Was it fun?" Asked Mick.
"Yeah, it was great!" replied Blake.
"Then I'll go next." He said. Mick surprised me because he was just as fantastic as Blake.
"Okay. We're gonna tack now!" I ordered
"Huh-" THWACK he was too slow and got hit on the side of his head with the boom.
"Owww." He said, dazed.
"Umm what happened to him?" Asked Gerald when we got back to shore.
"He got hit by the boom. I think he'd better lie down." I said worried.
"Ill stay with him." Offered Blake.
"Thanks a bunch. Who wants to go next?"
