A Little Mermaid's Tale

The Last Member

"I'm sleeping out on the deck, Captain. Goodnight." Dinner had already been over with and most of the crew had gone to bed, except those on night watch. Jack was trying to make you stay in his cabin, with one little problem. The two of you share a bed.

"Love, now I don't want me crew...touchin' ye and all tha' while ye sleepin'. So ye be sleepin' with good ol' Jack here." You looked over at him like he was crazy.

"You are completely insane Jack if you think I'm getting into the same bed as you." Jack made a sad face as he sat on the bed and patted the spot next to him.

"I can keep ye warm." You laughed and shook your head.

"No, but I will take this!" You grabbed one of the pillows from the bed but before you could take it, Jack grabbed the other end and pulled hard, causing you to fall on top of him.

"Now see this is more like it." Jack smirked and you blushed immensely. You were never one for getting to close to a man or letting one get close to you.

"J-Jack..." You stuttered trying to distance yourself or at least your face from Jack's since his arms were around your waist.

"Yes, love?" You glanced up into his eyes to see his mischievous gleam and quickly looked back down at his chest.

"I-I'd really like to get off of you now." You bit your lip, terrified. You didn't know why but being that close to any man made you feel scared.

Jack watched you, seeing the look on your face. He was shocked and amazed at the same time. He couldn't believe that you were scared of him just holding you.

"Of course." Jack let his hands slip from around your waist and you rolled off and made yourself comfy on the floor.

"Love, if you don't want to be near me while sleepin' at least let me be the one to be sleepin' on the floor." Jack sat up looking down at you.

"Oh no. I'm fine down here. It's your cabin so you should have the bed." You smiled at him removing your boots and placing your hat on the table next to Jack's.

"You're right. It is my cabin, my ship. Therefore what I say goes, and I say ye be sleepin' on the bed!" Jack smirked and stood up. You looked up at him strangely when out of nowhere he sweeps you off your feet, plops you onto the bed, and lays down on the floor himself.

"Well...that was interesting." You muttered to yourself.

"Goodnight love." Jack waved a hand at you.

"Goodnight Jack."

You had slept well throughout the night thinking about when you were on top of Jack. Although it made you very uneasy deep inside you couldn't help but feel something towards Jack.

"I can't feel anything for Jack. He's just a friend." You said aloud to yourself as you cleaned the deck trying to shake off the thoughts you were still having. You thought about the deal you made with Tia and couldn't help but wonder what true love felt like. You knew how to love someone, but you didn't know how to be in love with someone.

"Raven! Ye be comin' with me." You looked up to see Jack docking the boat behind rocks, hiding the Pearl from Port Royals view.

"Really?" You stood up excited placing the brush into the bucket.

"Aye." Jack looked over to you and saw your face. Your eyes lighting up, becoming brighter than they already are.

"Alright. I'll put this away then." You ran off and placed the bucket and brush in a closet then headed over to Jack who was lowering a small rowboat into the water with some of the other crew.

"Raven, you go down first." You nodded your head, climbed down, and then came Jack.
"If I'm not back with Will within the hour...I've been caught." He called up to Gibbs who nodded his head.

"Aye, Captain. What would ye like us to do then Captain?" Jack smirked at Gibbs.

"Ye know what to do." With that, Jack started rowing to the shore.

"Jack, are you sure we won't get caught?" Jack looked over at you climbing out of the boat and then helping you out.

"Don't worry love. As long as we're quick." You and Jack made your way through the crowd receiving looks of disgust from women while some of them men stared at you considering what you were wearing. (You're wearing a deep purple corset with gold lace and tight black pants with your black hat and your hair braid back, kinda like Lara Croft ) You moved closer to Jack pulling your big black shirt you wore over your corset like a jacket tighter.
Jack noticed the looks you were getting and seeing how it made you uncomfortable he placed his arm around your waist and pulled you in close to him. You looked up at him shocked but he just smirked at you.

"We're here." Jack opened the door to a blacksmith shop letting go of your waist. You walked around admiring the work when you felt a sword tip being held to your back.

"What are you doing here, pirate?" You turned around to see a fairly handsome looking man with nice chocolate brown hair, wearing a peasant shirt and brown pants.

"I'm not quite sure. I believe we came here to retrieve a man named Will." You smiled at him despite the fact that he now held the sword to your throat. He looked at you for a moment confused when he then looked behind you a bit shocked.

"Jack? What are you doing here?" Jack smiled walking over to the two of you and gently pushed the sword away from your neck.

"I'm here to get you, and not here to get me newest crew member killed." Will looked over at you and put his sword away.

"Why are you here to get me?" You looked up at Jack wondering the same thing.

"Treasure mate." You looked up at Jack, "treasure? You never told me anything about treasure." You looked away crossing your arms a bit upset that Jack wouldn't tell you.

"Well love, I didn't think it was any of your concern at the time." You glared at Jack and then looked away. Will looked between the two of you for a moment before looking at Jack.

"Jack are you and her...together?" You gasped and Jack laughed.

"NO! Of course not!" You blushed like mad while Jack shook his head.

"William, you know me better than that." Will looked over to you and smiled seemingly a little to happy about the news.

"Well what does that treasure have to do with me?" Will asked. You looked away from the both of them still embarrassed.

"Your father's treasure. I'll need you to get to it." Will looked at him appalled.

"You want to take my inheritance?!" Jack gasped in exaggeration.

"Nooo, of course not! On the map he tells how I shall receive a good share of the treasure along with me crew." Will looked at him and then towards a door in the back.

"I'll go." You looked over at the two seeing Jack smirk.

"What about the lass?" Will looked down sadly.

"We're having problems. She won't be coming." Jack raised a brow but just slapped his back.

"Well then, we be on our way!" You smiled and shook Will's hand.

"Welcome to the crew!" Will looked at you and just stared into your eyes.

"You have such...strange eyes..." Jack saw this and pushed Will away from you.

"Yes, she does. OH! Raven, Will, Will, Raven." You laughed and hit Jack.

"You're a bit slow at times Captain." Jack looked down at you and you just smiled at him.

"You're always smiling." You laughed at him as the three of you made your way back to the boat.

"Well, yeah. I smile when I'm happy. I guess I'm always happy then!" Jack looked at you like you were crazy as Will admired you.

"I think you have a beautiful smile." You looked over at Will shocked and chuckled slightly.

"Um...thanks." You bit your lip and made your way onto the boat, Will smiling at you the entire time.

Jack's P.O.V.

Jack finally got back to the Pearl yelling up for Gibbs to throw down the rope. He let Raven go first, watching her bottom as she climbed.

"Jack," Will harshly whispered at him.

"What?" Jack smirked going up the rope next, followed by young William.

"I'm going to get back to work, just go over the deck real quick again. See you later, Captain, Will." Raven smiled and bowed her head slightly to Jack and Will and ran off to get to work.

"What does she do on the ship?" Jack headed towards the wheel to start going to the first place the map said to go. Will was still staring at her until she was out of sight and then quickly caught up with Jack.

"She swabs the decks." Jack opened his compass and saw it looked like it was fighting with itself but then gave him a heading. Jack thought it weird but ignored it and turned the ship to the direction they were headed.

"Swabbing the decks? She's a lady Jack!" Will seemed horrified at the idea of Raven getting on her hands and knees scrubbing the deck of a ship.

"Will, what do maids do?" Jack asked glancing at Will for a moment.

"The keep a house in order." Will didn't see where this was going.

"Ah! Therefore, if a maid is to keep a house in order that would include her cleaning the floor. Thereby she would need to get down and clean the floor. No different than what Miss Adan is doing." Will looked like he was stumped until he opened up his mouth again.

"BUT! She's on a pirate ship! And men can look at her and possibly touch her!" Jack raised a brow at him and motioned him to come closer to him.

"She's a pirate and can take care of herself, no matter how shy she is...I hope." Will's eyes widen at Jack's comment.

"What do you mean you 'hope'? Jack!" Jack rolled his eyes, sighing.

"I haven't exactly seen her fight, and as you saw she's a very...caring person. I'm honestly still shocked she doesn't complain like someone else I know would." Jack glared at Will who just looked down sadly.

"I think I'll go keep her company." Will went to leave when Jack pulled him back.

"Oh, no. You have to help me with this." Will furrowed his brow.

"The map? Why?" Jack gave Will the map and pointed to where there was a red mark.

"That's our first stop." Will shook his head looking at the map.

"It's in the middle of the ocean."

"It's a cyclone." Raven was looking over Will's shoulder at the map and recognized the area.

"How would you know?" Jack looked over at Raven curiously.

"I've been around there. The legend is, was that a Siren fell in love with a mortal. Now that was forbidden unless she herself became a mortal. The only problem was she couldn't speak." Jack and Will stared at her intensely wanting to know more.

"She couldn't speak because if she spoke her voice would be so mesmerizing the mortal she fell in love with would only love her because she had spoken or sung. She needed him to love her for her." Raven smiled sadly looking out into the ocean.

"She was able to get him to fall in love with her for her, but once he found out what she truly was he denied her. Told her she was a murderer. Since Sirens are immortal creatures she became so consumed in her newfound hatred towards her lover and her sadness, her heart soon swallowed her whole, creating a never-ending whirlpool of pain and destruction. If we go there, we can very well be killed." Raven looked back at Jack and Will seeing her golden eyes glazed over.

"What's there?" Will asked looking over at Jack who continued to stare at Raven.

"Siren's Song. We need it for some reason." Raven shook her head.

"Captain with all do respect, most of your crew is made up of men, her song will surely draw you into the cyclone."

"She still sings?" Will asked. Raven nodded her head.

"She sings to seek revenge. See if the men who fall into the cyclone will quench her thirst, make her happy again." Jack sighed.

"We'll have to take our chances."

"NO!" Raven shouted the tears that were held in her eyes pour out onto her cheeks. Jack looked at her shocked.

"You can't." Raven looked down as if remembering a bad memory.
Jack reached out and whipped away the tears.

"Don't worry. I've got you and Ana-Maria. You two will slap the sense back into us." Raven glared at Jack and then stormed off.

"Jack maybe she's right. We can all die." Jack glared at Will.

"When haven't I risked my life for treasure before! We are going William whether you and Miss Adan like it or not." Jack snapped and then looked back out to sea. Will sighed and walked off leaving Jack alone to his thoughts.

'Why was she crying? She got so sad when she spoke about how he denied the Siren because of what she was...' Jack started to think more and more about her face and how much sadness she held in her eyes. Jack had never seen that before.

'Snap out of it Jack! She's just another wench.' Jack sighed and called Gibbs over to take the wheel telling him where they were headed.
