Juliet Loves the Beat, and the Lust It Commands

Chapter 2 - A Malevolent Smile

I sat at the kitchen table, eating a bowel of cereal, which my doctor said I should eat because apparently living on coffee for breakfast every morning of every day wasn’t healthy! Who knew?

“Good morning my fairest Juliet! Oh Juliet! Juliet! Wherefore art thou Juliet!”

I grinned as my daughter of 16 years joined me for breakfast, with a cup of coffee. I couldn’t help but smile, it was no use in giving her the ‘eat cereal’ speech, as with myself she never listened to them.

“Morning Dad, where’s Frank?”

“Oh probably still asleep, you know him.”

She laughed and sipped her coffee, I watched my daughter and couldn’t help but think how much like her mother she really did look like.

“Can I go wake him dad?”

“Huh… What did you say?”

She sighed, obviously my oldness annoyed her and I smiled as I remembered my 30th birthday. Some interviewer had asked me if I felt old, or something like that so I told him that 30 was the new 20 and Frank being Frank replied, yea for trees maybe!

Juliet groaned and whined, “Dad!”

“Oh… sorry Jules, yea go wake him, but don’t be to mean!”

I saw her smile malevolently at me then using her sweetest voice told me, “Why father dear! I'm surprised, how could you think I would be so cruel! Tut tut tut!

I laughed to myself as she fled the room, not even 10 seconds had passed and I heard Frank’s girlish yet manly screech, I wouldn’t even go as far to call it a yell!

He grumpily stomped down the hall and sulkily took a seat next to me, collapsing his head on the table.

“Morning Frankie.”

I grinned at his barely audible reply and slid my hand up and down his back comfortingly, “Didn’t sleep well Frankie dear?”

“Was the wakeup that was the problem…”

I grinned and sternly looked at Juliet, “ How could you ever do such a thing to your favorite Frankie! What kind of a monster have I brought up?”

She giggled and played with Frankie’s hair, “He’s my only Frankie dad!”

Frank sobbed mockingly, “A monster! A terrible big hairy big… oh I said that one already…”

“Hey!” I watched Juliet pull his hair and grinned, they were both such kids.

“Ok ok, a terrible small hairy pretty monster!” Frank grinned and sat up, giving Juliet a hug.

Juliet smiled and then soon bored asked, “So guys, what are we doing today?”

I shrugged and looked at the window, probably the worst thing I've done as a parent is let my daughter think me one of the ‘guys’. I suppose its really hard to help when your around Frank, I swear he’ll never grow old.

But it was kind of worrying, I just didn't know what to do though, she was my baby and without Lyn, bring her up by myself has been hard.

Although,Frank’s been a real help and we’ve become closer since the accident…
