Chapter 25
Valeria’s POV
The whole room looked at me and Don was looking at me shocked
“I thought you hated your father?” he asked and I nodded
“oh yes it is true I hate him but you can’t just kill him” Don laughed brokenly
“Valeria you kill people all the time” I nodded again
“I know but really you can’t kill him” Don sighed
“and why can’t I?” I walked onto the stage and said in a clear voice
“because my father has made a contract in fact it is signed by you, I suspect he got it through trickery but still anyway it states that if you have him killed, Ari or I have to marry immediately to a person of his choice and they are also written into the contract, in fact they are from rival Mafia groups” the crowd gasped and my Padre smirked and said
“exactly, they really are great people with many kills under their belts, in fact I think they try to be like me” I glared at him
“being like you is no accomplishment” Don regarded me a moment
“and is there anyway out of this?” he asked me, I shrugged
“I guess if one of us were already married before he was killed then it would be fine” Don sighed
“well this is complicated” a voice spoke up from the said of the stage where the guys are and said
“it doesn’t have to be” we all looked over there and saw Zacky walking onto the stage. He walked over to the microphone and took it from Don’s hands with a smile, he then looked over at Ari and said
“could you come up here please?” Ari raised a brow but walked up from our mothers side and stood next to Zacky, I squeezed her hand and went to sit beside our mother and calm her down.
Zacky took a deep breath and let it out slowly before he started talking, he took Ari’s hand and said
“well I don’t think this really is the right place I mean I planned something much better but I guess this is as good a time as any really” he then dropped to one knee and said while looking up at Ari, the women in the crowd had all gasped and I was just looking on interestedly
“right Arianna Lodovico, will you marry me?” everyone really did gasp then, even Madre and I was just frozen watching the scene, I couldn’t actually believe it. I saw Arianna’s eyes tear up as she nodded and the crowd broke into cheers while my father scowled and glared at them. He spoke up
“she still isn’t married yet though” Don raised a brow
“then you will just have to remain in prison until that day comes, boys” Matt and Brian walked onto the stage and took a hold of my father and dragged him from the stage and out a side door.
I was pretty shocked as I walked onto the stage and hugged Ari
“well damn girl, congratulations” Ari laughed as tears fell from her eyes which Zacky wiped away
“I know, Val this is so sudden and I’m so happy” I giggled
“yeah I can tell from the tears” Ari laughed again and walked off with Zacky, they were both looking at each other and talking quietly.
I was pretty blown away by this I mean they have known each other about a month maybe two, this is soon but if she’s happy I’m all for it.
I was stood there watching Ari and Zacky be congratulated when Matt came back and stood by my side. I turned towards him and looked up into his face noticing that he looked slightly sad. I wrapped my arms around his waist and asked
“what’s the matter honey?” Matt looked down at me and gave a wane smile
“nothing Val” I frowned
“no something is bothering you, you look sad but I know you’re happy for Zacky” Matt sighed
“just drop it for the moment Val ok” I nodded and let go of him and turned to watch the crowd again.
I felt Matt’s arms wrap around me as we watched everyone leave the room, they had all decided to go home because of tonight’s events and I can’t really say I blame them, I have been wanting to go home for a while. It had taken an hour for everyone to congratulate Ari and Zacky and I had spent that time not talking to Matt, if he doesn’t want to say what’s wrong then I will leave him to it.
I didn’t react to him putting his arms around me and he groaned and leaned down and said
“are you mad at me?” I shrugged
“no I’m not mad, I’m waiting for you to tell me what’s wrong; my sister has just gotten engaged so forgive me if I don’t want to hang around while you frown” Matt turned me around to face him and rested his forehead on mine saying
“look I’ll tell you when we get home ok” I nodded
“that’s fine Matt now can we get going?” he nodded and let go. We walked over to the others who were waiting by the door so we can leave.
Ari came over to me and took my hands squealing
“oh my god! I still can’t believe it Val!” I laughed and hugged her lightly
“its real Sorella you just have to get used to it, has he got a ring?” Ari grinned
“yeah it’s at home in his sock drawer apparently, I’ll just have to wait and see” I nodded and we parted so we could get in our cars and go home.
We arrived at the house and everyone walked in chatting to their own rooms, no one stopped for food or anything, we were all pretty wiped. I saw Danny’s babysitter come down the stairs looking a bit frazzled though, in fact I’m sure I saw some marshmallow in her hair but I wasn’t going to point it out to her.
I walked up to my room and stripped off my dress throwing it in the hamper and then leaning down to take off my heels; with a sigh I sat on my bed and rubbed my feet, heels are not good for long periods of time.
I showered and dressed in my pj’s before walking out and going to Matt’s room where he was laid out on his bed with his arms under his head as he stared at the ceiling.
I got on the bed and snuggled into his side and one of his arms immediately came around my shoulders and brought me a little closer.
We laid there for a good ten minutes before he asked
“are you disappointed?” I frowned
“about what?” I asked and he shifted a little before saying
“that I didn’t ask you to marry me” I chuckled and looked up at him
“is that what’s the matter with you” he nodded and I carried on “ Matt we have been going out for what maybe a week I don’t know but it hasn’t been long now I don’t know about you but that seems pretty soon to me” he grinned
“well I don’t know I think any girl would fall at my feet after a day” I poked his side and he squirmed a bit before saying “well I just thought that maybe you would have been the one to get married”
“look Matt if you want to marry me one day then we will get married one day but right now we are still trying to get to know one another and get a feel for the relationship, I don’t like to rush when I can have the courting stage for a while, you know where you buy me things and we can be together but I can still have the option of my own room if I get pissed at you or you have the option of looking at other girls without me slitting your throat” Matt laughed and pulled me up so he could kiss me on the lips
“you are brilliant you know” he mumbled into my mouth and I smiled
“oh yeah, I’m the best” we laughed before he got serious again
“you know that at any time you can back out of this right?” I laughed
“yes Matt though I’m comfortable right here for the moment so lets just stay like this for a while, plus I’m tired and this is a very comfy place to sleep” he grinned and let me go so I could lie down next to him and said
“good night Matt” he held out a hand and I took it resting them on the bed between us near my face, he smiled and replied
“good night Val” we then fell into a deep slumber
