Matt’s POV
I woke up and looked at Val’s sleeping face, she had a small smile making the corners of her full lips turn upwards and her hand was placed on my shoulder. I grinned to myself happy with the content feeling I had waking up with her in my arms, this is how its going to be for the rest of my life, how I hope it will be for the rest of my life anyway.
I had thought that Val would be disappointed that I hadn’t asked her but she was fine with it, I know we haven’t known each other long but I also know that Val is my girl, the last girl I will ever have, the same as Ari will be the last girl for Zacky, Mina is the last for Jimmy and Kat looks like she will be the last for Brian.
I thought about Brian and Kat, they had gotten closer and she was staying here quite a lot in fact she wasn’t working as much either but she had said she would stay until Val left and as Val hasn’t been in much neither had she. It wasn’t very often now that you saw Brian with out Kat or visa versa.
Val stirred a little and buried her face into my chest, rubbing her face against my nipple making little streaks go through me. I shivered lightly and decided to get out of the bed and get dressed, maybe talk to Brian or Zacky.
I had gotten out showered and dressed before heading down the stairs to find something to eat before he even thinks about talking to the others.
I entered the kitchen to find Brian hugging a cup of coffee as he stared miserably down at the counter. I shook my head and made myself a drink before sitting and taking a sip.
After I had finished half of my cup I set it on the table and asked
“So what’s up?” Brain lifted his gaze and I saw the confusion and worry in his eyes as he mumbled
“Zacky’s getting married” I nodded confused
“yeah but what’s wrong with that?”
“nothing” he replied and shook his head “ok yeah the fact that he’s getting married has pointed out the fact that time is moving on and I’m gonna have to get married soon, no I want to get married soon” I nodded
“to Kat right” Brian nodded and I mulled it over a little before saying
“so why don’t you ask her?” Brian sighed
“I asked her opinion on it and she said that she didn’t want to get married yet or even engaged, she said that this time is for Ari and Zacky plus it’s too soon for her and also something about not wanting to be getting married while being a dancer” I nodded again and replied
“yeah Val said she didn’t want to marry me yet, said we hadn’t known each other long enough” Brian chuckled
“aww man look at us, we were single not long ago and now we both have women that we want a marriage with and they aren’t ready” I shrugged and drank some more coffee as did Brian.
When I put down the now empty up I looked at Brian and admitted
“you know I don’t even know if I want to be married yet it’s just that Zacky and Ari got me thinking about it and the possibility, I’m not sure I’m ready” Brian nodded
“yeah I get it because I feel the same it’s like he’s growing up so we have to” I grinned
“it’s a good thing we chose women who are sure they don’t want to yet then isn’t it” Brian returned the grin
“yeah I mean it’s not like they laughed and said that they would never marry us in fact they implied that they would just not now” I nodded
“yeah so there will be plenty of time to grow up, just later” he nodded and got up from his seat stretching
“right well I’m going to go wake up my girlfriend and well I don’t think you want to know the details of how” I laughed and threw a dish towel at him but he was already out of the door and up the stairs.
I remained in my seat just thinking about what marriage to Val would be like.
After a while of just staring out of the window I heard soft footsteps and then felt slender arms wrap around me and a voice whisper in my ear
“what are you thinking about?” I turned my head to see Val there with a concerned look on her face, god I love this woman. I smiled and said
“nothing too exciting, why are you up?” Val grinned
“I was lonely, my pillow disappeared about an hour ago and well the noises from down the hall right now are disturbing, I’m not going near Brian’s room ever again and I hope he knows that” I laughed and turned to pull her onto my lap.
I looked down at her face and said with a smile
“you are the greatest girlfriend I have ever had, did you know that?” Val giggled
“I damn well better be now where is my breakfast?” I laughed and said
“I didn’t know about the high maintenance thing, maybe I should change my opinion” Val swatted me and got up going and pouring herself some coffee and grabbing a banana which she pealed slowly and started eating.
I groaned at the sight of it
“baby you are such a tease” Val looked at me confused and startled
“what?” I chuckled
“the way you eat baby” Val raised a brow and said slowly
“ok, what ever” and then she went back to eating and I averted my eyes so I wouldn’t be tempted.
After we had finished in the kitchen Val headed up to get dressed and I went into the living room where Zacky was sat with Ari curled into his side as he stroked her hair and she played with the buttons on his shirt. I looked at how comfortable they were together and how happy they seemed and I knew that one day Val and I would be like that, even when we’re old.
Just as I was about o back out and leave them to it I heard a barrage of swear words and curses coming from upstairs and stomping footsteps as someone headed down the stairs.
Going into the hallway I looked towards the stairs to see Val stomping down them in a grey wool dress with red tights, grey boots and hat and a bright red coat with a furious look on her face and I could see her gripping her mobile so hard I think she might throw it soon.
I met her at the bottom of the stairs and took her shoulders in my hands
“what’s the matter, what happened?” I asked and she threw up her hand and showed me her phone
“this is what’s wrong!!!” I raised a brow in confusion
“umm did it break or something?” Val growled
“no Don sent me a text demanding I be there today” I nodded
“well what time does he want you?” Val glared at me
“you don’t expect me to go do you?!” I sighed and replied
“honey it might be something important to do with your dad, you have to go just to find out” Val glared at me a minute more before sighing and breaking eye contact as she looked down at her phone
“yeah I guess I should see if it’s about Padre, hopefully he has some flesh eating bacteria or something so he can die a very slow death” I chuckled, ahh she always thinks up the worst things.
I put my arm around he shoulder and hugged her to me, her wrapping her arms around my waist
“it’ll be fine now go and tell Ari then go and see him” Val nodded and stood on tip toe kissing me softly. As she pulled back she asked equally softly
“what would I do with out you?” I smiled
“you’ll never know” Val grinned before walking off into the living room and I realized how true that statement was, she would never know what it would be like with out me, I wouldn’t let her.
