Chapter 38
Matt’s POV
I heard the front door open and close and then the jangle sound of a set of keys hitting the table beside the door. I grinned to myself knowing that Val is the only one who throws her keys there and so excusing myself from the conversation with Brian and Kat I got up and walked out to the hall where I saw Val taking her shoes off.
Coming up behind her I wrapped my arms around her waist and kissed the nape of her neck
“Hey baby, how is your mom?” Val turned and gave me a small smile
“yeah she’s fine when I got there she was making some bread” I grinned
“tell her to send some over” Val nodded and moved to get away but I pulled her back and said
“hey why are you trying to escape me?” I looked into Val’s eyes and noticed that she was looking kind of nervous as she replied with a shaky smile
“oh nothing, why would I want to get away from you?” I raised a brow but brushed it off and let her go, watching as she headed up the stairs. There is definitely something up with her.
Throughout the day Valeria was acting strange, she didn’t want to go out with the girls to a club and she just wanted to hang out in her room not doing anything which is really strange because she has to be the one person I know who can’t sit still and every time I tried to talk to her she looked nervous and jumpy like she was hiding something.
By the end of the evening I was tearing my hair out with trying to work out what happened but the only thing that happened today is that she went to her mother’s but I mean there is nothing wrong with her mom and I doubt her mom would have put her in this mood.
Getting into bed that night I turned to Val and asked
“what is going on Val?” Val looked up at me and asked with a nervous chuckle
“what do you mean? Nothing’s up with me” I rolled my eyes and glared at her
“there is something wrong with you and I want to know what it is” Val sighed
“I can’t tell you just yet ok?” I groaned and pulled her towards me
“so when can you tell me?” I asked her and she licked her lips before saying
“I’ll tell you within a couple of days ok” I shook my head but replied
“yeah sure whatever just tell me at some point ok because you’re starting to worry me” Val nodded and leant up and kissed me, pulling back she said
“I promise but don’t worry ok, what’s going on will be fine alright?” I nodded and she smiled before snuggling into me and I listened as her breaths slowed and she fell into a deep sleep but I couldn’t join her because I was still worried about what she had going on and about a million possibilities went through my head.
Valeria’s POV
Two days had passed and Zacky and Ari were due back. Matt and Brian had gone to go and pick them up from the airport while Kat, Mina and I stayed at the house organising it for a welcome back party though we were making Jimmy and Johnny do all the heavy stuff.
I was directing Johnny to lift Jimmy a little higher on his shoulders so that he could place a banner up over the door when my phone rang. Holding up a hand I pointed to my phone before leaving, the guys calling after me to come back but Mina quickly took over and told them what to do.
Walking through the back door I slowly closed it and answered the phone
“hello?” there was some shuffling and then I heard Matt’s voice
“we’ll be back in 5 minutes, we managed to stop and pretend to get some gas” I laughed and replied
“well I’ll make sure everyone knows just get back ok” Matt agreed and I hung up before going outside and calling
“GUYS! They will be back in about 5 minutes!” they all froze before moving into motion in fact Johnny jolted forwards and forgot that Jimmy was on his shoulders so Jimmy fell straight to the floor making everyone in the vicinity burst out laughing, falling to the floor except well Jimmy who was already on the floor.
We were all still rolling on the floor in hysterics when the sound of the door opening reached us and then a voice saying
“look I know I’m a little sun burned but it’s not that bad is it?” looking up I saw Ari stood there with Zacky’s arm around her while Matt and Brian were behind them trying not to laugh themselves. Getting to my feet I grinned and said
“sorry honey, but you look great!” Ari laughed before launching herself off the deck and at me.
She smacked into me with the force of a rocket but I managed to keep my balance and hug her back. We were both grinning like fools when we pulled away and I looked her over
“you really do look good Ari and you know that I will want to know all of the details” Ari nodded and we walked over to the deck table and sat down with the other girls and started talking.
The guys had been talking over by the beer table we had set up in the back garden and we were currently talking about each of them when my phone sounded from my pocket. Pulling it out I saw the number of the doctors flashing on the screen and looking up I told the girls
“I’ve gotta take this ok” they all nodded and I made my way into the house, Matt gave me a questioning look but I just held up my phone and he nodded.
Walking into the kitchen I opened the phone and pressed the accept button
“hello?” I said and a voice replied
“hello is this Miss Lodovico?”
“yes this is she”
“right well we have the results of your test here, would you like to come down or are you happy with us telling you over the phone?” I bit my thumb nail as I thought it over. Hearing a laugh from outside I decided to just let them tell me now. Taking a deep breath I answered
“you can tell me now”
“ok well the results show that you are indeed pregnant” my mouth dropped open and I nearly dropped the phone. Shocked I said
“thank you”
“you’re welcome and I wish you all the best”
“thank you good bye” I then hung up the phone and put it back in my pocket automatically. Leaning back against the counter I looked down at my stomach and tried to imagine the baby inside it and I actually could, the image made me smile and straightening I turned to the door and went to go and tell Matt the news.
