Will You Catch Me If I Fall?

Caged Like a Bird

I watched from my balcony as the sky slowly darkened to a black with gray splotches that would soon become rain clouds. I watched as a flock of birds flew up from the forest behind my rather large house. I sighed deeply. I would give anything to be able to fly. I would be able to fly away from this place and never come back. I would never be caged again. I whistled a few notes and held two fingers out. A few seconds later a Red-crested Finch landed on my fingers.

This happened to be the usual Finch that comes and talks with me. He never really told me his real name, so I just call him Monsieur Finch. He tweeted the same few notes I had whistled.

It made me chuckle. "Bonjour, Monsieur Finch. How are you this fine evening? And how are the chicks?" I asked politely.

I'm very well, thank you for asking Eli! My chicks are doing fine as well. Speaking of chicks, I mustn’t stay today, I have to go find some food for them, and they are very impatient

"Oh, well then, I won't keep you. Go and do your duties." I said a bit sadly. And with that he flew away. And then there was one, I thought. And does anybody say goodbye anymore?

"ELI!!" I turned around just in time to be tackled to the ground by some short person.

"Hello to you too, Artie!" I laughed pilling both of us off the ground and leading the way in to my room. I noticed Thayet sitting on the end of my bed with her paws crossed and her head on top of them.

Somebody looks mighty proper, I thought. I laughed and her and she just glared. I laid down on my bed and Arthur followed suit.

I looked at him.” So what do you need Baby Brother?" He looked at me with his beautiful dark brown eyes. I noted that he looked sorta nervous

"Well, mummy and daddy told me to come and get you and send you to daddy's study. But, I was Wondering...well...um.." I brought him closer to me and wrapped my arms around him.

” Come on Artie, you know you can ask me anything."

"I know...Well…Will you sing me a song before you go?" He looked down.

I laughed. "That's all you wanted?" I stuck my fingers under his chin and lifted his head until he made eye contact. "Of course I will, Artie." He smiled wide and snuggled closer to me as i started to sing to him:

How cruel is the golden rule
When the lives we lived
Are only golden plated
And i knew that the lights of the city
Were too heavy for me
Though i carried Karats for everyone to see
And i saw God cry in the reflection of my enemies
And all the lovers with no time for me
And all of the mothers raised their babies to stay away from me
Tongues on the sockets of electric dreams
When the sewage of youth drowned the spark of my teens
And i saw God cry in the reflection of my enemies
And all the lovers with no time for me
And all of the mothers raised their babies to stay away from me
And pray they don't grow up to be me. (song: Golden by: Fall Out boy)

When I was finished i looked down at Arthur to find him asleep. I slowly Untangled myself from him and got up to get ready to met my Anti-parents. This is what i wore:

My parents hate when i wear anything but dresses. Teehee. "What do you think, Thay?" I wispered to Thayet, carful not to wake Artie.

I like it, but you parents sure won't She said looking at me with her all too human eyes.

I smirked, "Parfait."(perfect)
