Trigger Effect

Chapter fifteen

I was now standing in the room the I had to share with Beckett.

And guess what!

There's only one bed.

This is not going to end well.

Hmm, am I aloud to sleep in the closet? Or, maybe there's a trapdoor, hiding a dungeon?

Probably not.

"Hello," William's voice interrupted my ranting thoughts.

I stayed where I was, hearing his feet shuffle closer to me, and soon I felt his arm on my right shoulder.

The sudden contact caused me to step forward, and turn towards him, in ,what seemed like, one swift motion.

"Please, don't touch me."

No answer.

I moved to sit on the bed, on the side that was facing William.

At that exact moment, my bravery kicked in.

Stupid delayed reactions...

"Alright, clear somethings up for me. Why do I have to share a room with you?"

"So I can keep and eye on you."

"Why not make Gabe do it?"

"He'd might take advantage of you in your sleep."

"You said, "Might", so there's a chance he won't."

"But why take the risk?"

"How can I know that you won't?"

"You can't."

Way to make me feel safe.

"Why did you bring me here, to change me?"

"I brought you here, to save you," he sighed.

"Likely story."

"It's the truth. Look, when I found you, you were already bleeding badly, but you had no bite marks. So, I brought you here to find a way to save you. But, I was running out of time. I was told that you were going to die, so I did what I had to do. I turned you."

I thought about his explaination.

"Why didn't you?"

"Why didn't I, what?"

"Why didn't you let me die?"

"I couldn't do that."

"You let people die all the time! Why didn't you let me be like them?"

"You're different. I'll tell you why, just not now. It's not the right time."

"Why am I still here?"

"You keep asking that."

"Well done, Einstein. Now, tell me why!"

"I can't do that."

And, with that, he was gone.

"FUCKING BASTARD!"
