Take Off Your Make Up and Put Down the Camera

Twenty-Nine

“So what’s going on?” Vicky-T asked.

“Well, he has internal bleeding, a concussion, broken wrist and a broken nose,” I replied.

“Ouch…”

I just nodded, “He’s in stable condition though and he was awake.”

“I wonder if they will let us in to see him?” Ryland asked.

I shrugged and sat down next to William.

“What’s wrong, dollface?” He asked.

I smiled, “Nothing. Gabe told me he loved me.”

“Oh, I assume you’re pretty happy with that then, right?”

“You have no idea.”

Will just nodded.

Everyone had been allowed to see Gabe for a few minutes and then they decided to leave. Audra and I told everybody that they could stay at our house. Audra was going home so she could watch over the chaos that was bound to happen. I had talked the nurses into letting me stay with Gabe.

“I hope I can get out of here soon,” Gabe said as I sat down in a chair next to his bed.

“Yeah, I hope so, too.”

“I’m glad you stayed.”

I just nodded.

“Keegan, you’re being really quiet.”

I looked up at him and bit my lip to keep from crying.

“What’s wrong?”

“I just keep thinking that I could have lost you…and I don’t know what I would have done if I’d lost another person I loved.”

“Baby, please stop thinking that way. I’m right here. I’m fine.”

He grabbed for my hand and laced our fingers together.

“I want you and only you….forever. And it took me this long to realize it. You’re not going to get rid of me that easily,” He said.

I smiled, “That’s all I’ve ever wanted to hear.”
