The Only One

The Only One

He always made her feel like everything was perfect, making her believe so. He had somehow managed to take control of her. She wasn't going anywhere, no matter what.
Some might call it love...I would say it was need.

Need of some confort, security. Something more than just a time filling activity.
She wanted something real.

Somehow this girl had convinced herself he was the right one for her.
He had the looks, they could keep a conversation, he gave her amazing presents, took her to beautiful places.

Everybody envyed their perfect relationship. It was easy to imagine them in 8-9 years in a big house in a nice neighbourhood with kids playing around.

Everybody but a boy. A different, outstanding boy. Her best friend Matt.

He was big and muscled, with cute dimples added to it. Tattoos covered him, getting disapproval looks from the pompous assholes that lived in his surrounds.
A ring pierced his bottom lip, while two tunnels shined in his ears. But nothing was more piercy than his bright hazel green eyes.
They had a little sparkle to them that made some think he was dangerous. Others classified him as just a troublemaker.
But there was more about this boy. They just never cared to find out.

To him it made no difference. There was one, and only one opinion he cared about. And for as long as she kept calling him hot stuff, no matter how friendly it was, he was happy.
He loved that girl.

They were so alike. Both lived for music and none of them was like the fake people that surrounded them.

You would say they were meant to be. You would say. He would wish.

That was his dirty little secret. The only thing he kept from her.
It was clear as crystal that his love for her went all the way beyound friendship. But for as clear as it was, she was oblivious to it.

This same secret lead them to their only disagreements. To the only thing they argued about.

"Kallie,"
"Yeah?"
"Are you ever going to dump that dude?"
The counts of how many times he had asked this had been lost.
"God Matt what's your problem with my boyfriend? He's great. We're great. I'm not going to throw that away."
Once more Matt had his hopes crushed. Turned into dirt. Spit over if you must.
That's how low he felt.

Time kept passing and they kept growing older. The happyness in her eyes vanished by now.

She was still with the same guy. Some said he would propose soon. They had such a good opinion on him...

She was numb to anything.
The things she was able to ignore when younger tormented her now.
It was so much easier when she was naive. And he didn't seem to notest.
He undervalued her.
Maybe because she was blonde? But oh boy she was much more than just a pretty face. So much more.
She was a step ahead of him and he had no idea.

The same girl he had controled and used when younger had overtook him.
She now understood everything. All the signs.
Still he was oblivious.

She saw the way he stared at other girls and how he always got some excuze to disappear for a while. Was he that dumb to think she wouldn't notice the lipstick traces and the messed up hair?

And at night, did he had any idea of what he did in his sleep?
He smiled. He smiled in his sleep.

And when some other girl's name slipped from his lips she knew she had had enough.

With one quick move she slipped off the covers, shivering as the cold air connected with her skin.
Grabbing some travelling bags she packed all she had. Her life in a bag. That suited well the event.

This was the only time she was grateful for the guy's ability to sleep.
In the middle of all the packing he didn't move. Not even the slightest.

Even him sleeping didn't look so appealing now. God it wasn't appealing at all. It was hard to think so when some hazel green eyes kept flashing in her mind.
Matt.
She felt so bad for not telling him anything.

Composing herself she walked down the stairs of the front porch, throwing the last bags in the back of her car.
It was finally over.

Her heart beat increased as some cracking sound came from the bushes at her left
"It's just a cat", she thought to herself, "just a cat..."

Just then some dark figure stepped from in between the shadows, slowly making it's way to her.

With every step he took she took another one backwards.
She still couldn't see his face. And it was creeping her out.
Thousands of thoughts raced in her head.
Where did I put my fucking bat?
Her back was now brushing against the car. She had no way out.

"May I know what are you pretty girl doing alone in the street at night?"

Waves of relief spread all over her body, her heart beat slowing down hearing that oh so well known voice.
"God Matt you scared me!"

She crossed her arms mad as the moonlight shined down on his face causing the lip ring to glow, iluminating his smirk.
"I'm sorry but you look so cute scared."

She bit her lip as he walked closer, making his smirk grow.

With an arm around her waist and bodies tightly pressed he whispered, "where were you going without telling me?"

She let out a sigh, looking up into his eyes.
"I don't know, I just want to get out of here."

He stared with a triumphant look in his eyes, "You finally left him. I told you he wasn't the person you thought he was."

That didn't had the expected effect in her, causing her grey eyes to turn icy in anger, "I don't need you shoving that stuff on my face Matthew."

Her hands moved to his chest pushing him away but he quickly took hold of her wrists and pressed her more against the car.

"You know you should have listened to me."

The grip on her wrists was turning tighter, causing her to get even more mad and to growl through gritted teeth "Matt let go."
She frowned as he shook his head no.
"I'll scream if you don't."

He didn't even move keeping a challenging look on his face.

She opened her mouth to scream, hoping this would make him let go but quickly found his lips crashing into hers, his tongue caressing every part of her mouth.

There was something about his lips that was just so addictive. She couldn't help but kiss back with all the passion she had.

Maybe this was how it was suppose to feel.
Like your insides are on fire.
Your heart beating like crazy.

That kiss made her feel the happiest person alive.

That might explain why as soon as he said he was in love with her she couldn't help but say the same back, without a bit of unsureness.

And just like that she left her past behind, because she should have seen sooner, Matt was the only one for her.
