All You Need Is Love

Unlocking their doors

The doors opened and Gabrielle entered the corridor on the top floor. The smell of peach air freshener still hung in the air, as the housekeepers had not long finished their job. Gabrielle walked along the corridor and came to room 512, Billie Joe Armstrong's room. She was just about to lift her hand to knock when the door was flung open and the cockerel haired guy stood there.

"Whoa," said the guy. "Mike, the key cards are here!" he shouted into the room, "grab the bags will ya?" said the guy taking in Gabrielle. He's looking me up and down and making this so obvious thought Gabrielle, I'm not sure I feel comfortable standing here with him looking at me, the cheeky swine. He's good looking though she thinks to herself glancing at his charcoal grey t-shirt. It was fairly tight around his chest and she noticed it was hanging out of his black jeans slightly on one side. She felt like reaching over and tucking it in for him...

"You lazy bastard, I'm not getting all your stuff as well Tre. Get your ass in here and grab the golf clubs at least," she heard coming from the tall guy, inside the room.

Tre dragged his eyes from the lovely Gabrielle as Billie came over and held the door open so all the guys could drag their bags out into the hall.

"I'm so sorry about this," said Gabrielle.

"It's not a problem," said Mike winking at Gabrielle. "These things happen," he said dragging his bag out into the hall. The aroma of spicy lemons swept past her.

They walked along the corridor to Tre's bedroom. Tre spoke as Gabrielle unlocked his door.

"The girl, Beth, on reception," he said, "she's beautiful...is she attached?" Tre asked.

"Oh Tre," said Mike rolling his eyes, "you make her sound like a piece of string. Where would you attach her?"

"I'd attach her to my bedpost," said Tre. They laughed together.

"She's single actually," said Gabrielle enjoying listening to the banter going on between these two.

"Thank fuck for that," said Tre. "She's beautiful, that long black straight hair, that's her natural colouring right?" he said thinking about the girl with the white skin and ice blue eyes.

"Yes, it's the Irish in her," Gabrielle smiled, pushing the door open for Tre to enter.

"Well I'm thinking she could do with a little Californian in..."

"Tre, inappropriate right now," said Mike. "Now get in and get some sleep," he said ushering his friend into the hotel room.

"I like being inappropriate," said Tre dumping his bags down.

"We know Tre, we know," said Mike closing the door on his old friend.

Mike watched Gabby as she walked in front of him, he could smell an essence of coconut wafting from her and it reminded him of tropical beaches..sun tan lotion and lazy days.

"Here you are Mr. Pritchard, once again I'm sorry for this," she said unlocking the door.

"Listen, its not a problem at all, I hope no one gets into trouble over it," he said entering the room.

"No one will," said Gabrielle looking up at him, he was tall.

"Have you air conditioning in here?" he asked her as he surveyed the room, sitting on the bed and testing it by bouncing up and down then going over to the window to check out the view.

Gabrielle entered the room and went over to a switch on the wall. "It's here Mr. Pritchard...you turn the dial here to whatever temperature you'd like," she said, showing him.

"Thanks. What's the food like here?" asked Mike. "Is there a restaurant?"

"There is and the food is marvellous," said Gabrielle breathing in his scent of lemons. "We have a new chef, he's French and he's a wonderful cook," she said proudly thinking of Josef. He had brought a lot of custom into the hotel since he had joined two months ago.

"I may have to give it a try," said Mike taking off his jacket and exposing his well toned arms in a sleeveless top. Gabrielle averted her eyes as she had this jellybean type thing dancing around in her stomach all of a sudden.

"And a health club or leisure centre...is there one here?" he asked turning to her.

"There is and I use it nearly all the time," said Gabrielle. "I often go for a swim early evening, I find it's the best time its so quiet and relaxing...most of the guests are in the restaurant then so I quite often have the pool to myself," she said thinking that being a rock star he would want to know when the most quietest time of day was at the pool to avoid unwelcome guests.

Then Gabrielle realised she had committed the ultimate no-no in a hotel. She was alone in a bedroom with a guest.

"Look I have to go," she said glancing over and aware that she probably had spoken for too long to this guy. She noticed a flash of light by his left ear. It was a silver earring and hanging from it a star. It suddenly dawned on her then that this guy was a rock star, it was so obvious to her now and it seemed to seep out of every pore on his body. She felt foolish for feeling jittery near him, his presence was astounding but he probably made every woman feel this way, him being a rock star and everything. What had she been thinking going in the room with him alone? She hoped nobody had seen.

"If there's anything you need-" she began as she started walking towards the door.

"...I shall call you," Mike finished for her. He watched the nervous girl, Tre was right he did seem to fall for the ice maidens, maybe he found them a challenge.

When she left the room Gabrielle had to lean slightly against the doorframe to collect her thoughts and compose herself. She was attracted to this guy but he was a guest, a guest who happened to be a rock star. She felt like she was 18 again. He had made her feel like she was 18 again. Snap out of this Gabrielle, it's not like you; you're usually so composed. Yeah well may be sometimes I don't want to be composed, may be its time to live a little, but this rock star guy, he was way out of your league.

Tre lay on his back looking up at the ceiling. How many hotel ceilings had he looked up at? Countless. How many ceilings had the girls underneath him looked up at. Countless too. Tre sighed and thought about the girl from the reception desk. Not Beth but...Gabrielle. He'd noticed her at the same time as Mike but Mike being the taller she'd noticed him first and then...well he had to act the fool as usual and had probably blown it. Mike was so calm and easy going and gentlemanly, the girls loved it while he...he'd fucking acted the stupid one again. He'd never change, he always acted like this, and it hid his nerves and shyness. Yeah shyness but who would believe that? Acting the clown was like a mask, a mask to his real identity. He could be easy going and gentlemanly too given half the chance. He grabbed the white cotton hotel pillow from beside him and punched a dent in it. He lay his head down in the dent and tried to sleep but this girl Gabrielle kept coming to his mind.

Gabrielle walked back down the corridor to the elevator and as she passed Tre's room she looked up at the number on the door and smiled to herself. Nice guy.
