Chapter 8: Starting The List

One Month Later: Horseback Riding

I awoke to the sharp buzzing sound of my alarm. Normally, I would have moaned and rolled over, slapping my hand down on the "snooze" button. But today was a rare exception; we were going horseback riding. It was one of the few things on my "To Do List".

I jumped out of bed, rushed into my bathroom, changing into the clothes I had strategically picked out the night before, and brushed my hair and teeth. I also showered and washed my face and all that.

Pulling out my phone, I texted Ella.

'You ready? -Manda'

Minutes later, my phone vibrated.

'You bet! -Ella'

Yes! I was so excited, I could hardly wait out the car ride to the barn, which was only 15 minutes away.

Arriving, I stepped out and walked inside. Horses were tacked up and ready to go. The barn manager said to pick out our horses, so me and Ella did just that. She picked out a shiny bay. I chose a more flashy, black and white pinto. We led them outside and hopped on.

The manager started to talk. "And remember, if anything happens and the horses get scared, just relax. The wranglers will be with you shortly." She made it seem like no big deal. If I were on a crazy, runaway horse, it would be a big deal!

Anyways, we took off and walked slowly on a trail. Following other people, me and Ella didn't talk. We didn't need to actually. We were the kind of friends that didn't need words to explain our feelings. It was all in the looks.

*After the ride*

We had an awesome time that day! The horses led us to a magical place. They stopped under a waterfall and then walked through daisy fields. It was just utterly amazing. We took lots of pictures and I couldn't help but think, which ones would be at my funeral?
