How Could This Happen to Me?

Can I look?

He stood up off the floor and held out a hand to me. A smile spread across his beautiful full pink lips, and before I could say anything I was mesmerized by his piercing gray green eyes. My hand reached out for his, and I never remember telling my body to move. His smooth, soft fingers intertwined with mine as he pulled me off the bed. We walked towards my door not taking our eyes off each other. He held up a finger to his beautiful mouth signaling for me not to say anything, but I don't know why he did that. He had to have realized I couldn't have spoken at a time like that. My brain was basically a bowl of mush.

A few moments past and I heard Amanda's voice yell his name from across the hall. I felt a sudden pang of jealousy. It must have flashed across my face because Kegan squeezed my hand gently and smiled a smile that could only be heaven sent. After another few moments Kegan grabbed the door handle and pulled us out into the hall. He stealthily led me down the hall, and into those dark corridors. “Kegan,” I whispered, “isn't this were Kivi's office is?”

“Yeah, but he's out with Lydia and Regan looking for me. Come on, and keep quiet or we'll get caught,” he whispered back.

I kept my mouth closed as he quickly led me through several dark halls. It was dark and he was getting faster and faster, I could barely keep up. I did my best though, I didn't want to get lost in these halls. It was too confusing to get around in the main halls let alone these dark corridors. “There's a set of old stairs we're going up, then there's a door, but your not allowed to look out of the door until I say,” he said with an amused tone. I was dying to see what he had in store. It's not like I haven't dreamed of this moment every night since I have arrived.

He held my hand as we raced further down the dark hall. He stopped so suddenly that I ran into his back causing him to laugh. “Sorry, you okay?”

“Yeah.”

“Come on, we're at the stairs. No matter what don't get scared remember I won't let go,” he whispered in a seductive tone. I smiled to myself since I couldn't see him.

“Okay.” He was off again only this time a lot slower. He told me to step up, and I did. The stair case was barely wide enough for me to fit into, and it felt as if it were about to buckle under out weight.

“Keg.”

“It'll be okay. I use to jump on this thing. It's not going anywhere.” We continued up the stairs until finally he said there was no more. I sighed as I thanked God for that bit of information.

“There are no more stairs Maddie, but I am going to make you close your eyes.” I immediately froze when he said that. Oh no, I was not closing my eyes. “Please,” he spoke childishly. “For me,” and with those two words I would have jumped off the roof.

“Fine. I am allowed to be scared though aren't I?”

“Yes, all you want.”

“Okay.”

I took a few more steps then he started walking behind me with his hands covering my eyes. I couldn't help but to smile as butterflies swarmed my stomach. All my fears had disappeared as his fingers lay gently across my eyes. I stayed silent as we walked what seemed like forever. I was getting tired of not seeing anything and it was making me even more nervous.

“Kegan?”

“Madeline?”

“Can I look?”

“Ten more steps.”

“1,” I counted.

“2,” he mocked. We counted down until it was the last number.

“Ten,” he whispered gently in my ear. The heat from his voice sent shivers down my spine. He slowly removed his fingers from my eyes and took my hand back into his once again.

I peered around and I was in utter awe.
