How Could This Happen to Me?

Tours and pretty instruments!

The room was large with a small chandler in the middle of the room. The walls were painted a bright sunny yellow, and that was the only bad thing about the room. I had a black leather couch, a black book shelf filled with random books, and a huge king sized bed. It was made up with fancy black lace sheets and matching comforter. I wanted to moan out of pure joy, but I held it back. I looked to the opposite side of the room, and saw that there was a matching black leather lazy boy chair in front of a large television. “Whoa!” Then I saw another book shelf that was filled with dvds and video tapes. This place was nothing like home. It was much more extravagant.

“Todo, we are defiantly not in Kansas anymore,” I said out loud. I heard a wind chime giggle as I was looking aimlessly around my room. I quickly turned to the sound and saw a girl standing in my door way.

“I hate that movie,” the girl spoke lightly. Her voice was almost musical. It was kind of of creepy, I mean, she reminded me of one of those horror movie characters that came to get the victim at the end. She was uniquely beautiful with her light brown hair with dark red and black undertones that was cut in a pixie style. She had almond shaped aqua eyes, and her face was perfect. He was an easy 5'8 and showed off her long legs in a jean mini skirt. Her skin was snow white and not one blemish could be spotted.

“Hi,” I said weakly as I just stared at her. I suddenly felt very self conscious, I mean here I was standing at a hight of 5'6 and my long wavy black hair was untamed. My deep blue eyes weren't the prettiest in the world. I'm sure I had quiet a few blemishes on my face, and I was standing there in some ratty old jeans and a plain white tee shirt that had at least two holes at the bottom of it. I was a monster as I stood next to the goddess Aphrodite.

“Hello, I'm Lydia. You must be Amanda right,” she said sweetly. I groaned and rolled my eyes at once. I didn't care how bad I looked these people should know who they're buying I mean right?

“No, I'm afraid not. I'm Madeline. Please call me Maddie though,” I answered in a bored tone. Her eyes went wide just as Kegan's did.

“Oh, your T.J's. You will absolutely love him,” she said a bit sourly. I couldn't help but notice the now unhappiness that flooded over her perfectly sculpted face.

“You were T.J's girlfriend weren't you?” I looked at her apologetically. She looked stunned that I would say such a thing.

“Do not let my father hear you say that,” she hissed angrily as she looked around making sure no one had heard. I am positive I took on a new look of confusion. “Derek may be my father's friend, but he would never allow me to be with T.J,” she explained sadly.

“Personally, you can keep him. I'd rather just be set free in the world but unfortunately I was sold into marriage by my self centered parents.” She laughed that musical laugh once again.

“Sold into this. T.J didn't by you. My father bought you and he's giving you to him as a birthday present. It's T.J's choice what he wants to do with you,” she explained once again.

“Oh great, now I'm at his mercy.” She laughed again.

“Come on. Maddie. Let me show you around.”

Lydia took me out of my room, and showed me the rooms on the second floor. She explained that her brothers and she had to share a bathroom out on the hall, but the corner room that I was staying in had a bathroom of its on. She jokingly told me that if I ever got mad I never had to leave my room. What she didn't realize was I was all ready considering that option. Then she told me her room was the one next to mine. I was glad of that at least I'd have a nice person around.

She took me down stairs and started showing me where different things were like an art room. It was full of different paintings and sculptures that were absolutely, stunningly beautiful. They had an indoor pool, and a room for just listening to music. Then there was a room beside the 'listening room' as she called it, and I wondered in there on my own as she was talking about, well I'm not sure what about I wasn't really paying attention. I was to busy being drawn to the room. I walked in and almost had a heart attack. There in the middle of the room was a grand piano, and on the far side of the room was a small stage set up with a microphone and guitars and drums. It was beautiful. There were a few woodwind and stringed instruments hanging gently on the walls, and I immediately felt like I was in heaven. I loved music, but I never had the chance to play anything. Well except for flute once in the school band, but I had to drop it because eventually I couldn't afford to be in the band anymore.

“This is our, I guess, playing room you could call it,” Lydia explained from over my shoulder. I jumped slightly because I didn't realize she was standing there. I walked further into the room. She had a small smile on her face as she watched me run my fingers over the beautiful piano. I longed to play it, but I didn't know how. I'd heard people play, Bach was one of my favorite composers after all, but I never imagined seeing a piano quiet like this up close. It was made of dark mahogany woo, with real ivory keys. I was in utter awe.

“Can you play,” Lydia asked as she stood by the end of the piano. I looked at her with a sad expression covering my face I'm sure.

“No, I wish I could. The only instrument I've played was a school band flute, and I wasn't very good.”

“Maybe I could teach you while you're here. After all this is mine,” she said as she watched my reaction. I'll admit I almost fell over in the floor with shock. How could one person have a possession like this. I mean this had to cost her more than the house so how in the world did these people do this.

“Really,” I said in an almost disbelieving tone.

“Sure, it's not like I'll have anything better to do.” That small smile turned into a full on grin and I had to smile with her.

“Great.” I walked closer to the stage being careful not to touch anything else. I don't know what is whose so I feel that it's better not to touch. Especially if I end up touching something that belongs to Kegan he might rip my head off.

As if Lydia was reading my mind she started laughing, she finally composed herself enough to speak as she said, “The blue Music Man Luke Signature Model Electric Guitar belongs to Kegan. Personally I like Regan's red Ibanez 2005 SZ20QM Electric Guitar better.”

I stared at her as if she had lost her mind. How did she know all of that? “How did you know the brands off just like that,” I questioned in my shock.

“I know my instruments and besides when you hear them fighting over which brand they want for an entire year you learn things quickly,” she explained.

“So whose base and drums?”

“The green Les Paul flattop bass guitar is Zane's I think. I'm not sure he leaves it over occasionally. The Pacific X7 drums are, um, gosh what's his name,” she said more to herself. I admired the purple drum set not thinking bout whose they could possibly be. They just looked so beautiful.

“Hey Lid, how goes it,” a boy walked into the room. He was all smiles and happy and it kind of freaked me out just a little.

“Hey Jar,” she said absently as she thought. I was a little, okay a lot, confused.

“Lydia,” I asked.

“Sh, I'm trying to remember who the drums belong to,” she hissed. I shrunk back away from her. She seemed menacing when she hissed at me, and quiet frankly it scared the little hellion out of me. The boy laughed and it made me notice him more. He had a musical laugh as well, he was tall about 6'2 I'd say, with blond hair and purple highlights. Purple? Then it hit me. He was the drum set owner.

“Lid,” he asked quietly.

“What Jeremy,” she hissed at him this time. Her eyes widened when she saw him twirling a lone drum stick while sitting on the stool behind the set. “Oh.” this caused another burst of laughter from him. I couldn't help but to smile a little.

“Who's the chick,” he asked through his laughter and I was stunned he even noticed me.

“This is my best friend for the week,” she responded. He nodded as he got up and walked over to us, all the while twirling that drum stick between his long thin fingers.

“Hi Lid's best friend for the week. I am Kegan and Regan's friend Jeremy Baker,” he said as he held out his free hand for me to shake. I looked up into his soft hazel green eyes, and I nearly let my knees go weak for a moment. This boy was the God of hotness. Don't let it fool you. He may be tall and really thin, with way to long hair that covered his left eye, but he was purely gorgeous.

“The name is Maddie,” I said as I shook his hand. Luckily one of my strong points is to never let anything show through in my voice. I could hate you as much as I hate Kegan and you'd never know it unless I wanted you to.

“Cool, nice to meet you Maddie. Hey, why aren't you two in the game room with Keg and Reg.” He took on a new look of confusion, and he still didn't look less gorgeous even though he wasn't amused anymore.

“Because I hear that our dear friend Maddie had a bad confrontation with Kegan earlier,” Lydia gave me an amused smile.

“That wasn't bad, that was just confusing on my part. Bad would be if you make me stand in a room with him alone for an hour,” I hissed like she had earlier, only mine was less scary. She just laughed. Jeremy looked slightly confused. “Long story, short version ask Regan. He was there.”

“Come on. You won't be alone with Mr. Insane Asylum Reject,” Lydia said in a more amused tone and I raised my eyebrow. She had already talked to Regan.

“Hey I said house full of them. Who knows which one I might run into next,” I said playfully. As if on cue as we walked out of the room I hit what seemed to be another solid brick wall.

“See what I mean,” I groaned looking up immediately to see just whom or what I had ran into this time.
