When Dreams Aren’t Dreams

Chapter 24

Suddenly he stopped and began to cough. Lynn was alarmed when she saw blood on his lips

“Shit, Alex—”

“I’m fine” he wiped the blood away

“But—”

“Don’t worry” he smiled softly “It’s just that the wound began to heal, as I was saying, the guardians stole part of the essence and placed small amounts of it in different and specifics humans, creating some kind of shield we couldn’t pass. The gods sent me to kill those humans, so we could shatter that invisible shield to keep stealing dreams, it was then that I realized I wasn’t myself anymore…” He suddenly stopped and looked to his side “the wound stopped bleeding” he said

“What?... oh! Well then let’s go to a motel, you need rest”

“Wait, I haven’t finish”

“It doesn’t matter, you—”

“It does” he said

“Does it have to do with me? No, well—”

“Yes”

“Okay spit it out!”

He smiled softly. She was always like that

“I became a guardian and managed to steal all the essence, that’s why they’re after me… I needed to hide it and…” he stopped, the words lingering in his thoughts

“And?” she brought him back to reality

“I used your body to hide it; I placed the essence in you, that’s why you didn’t dream today”

“…WHAT!!!??” he did not said that, right? Uh! She wanted to strangle him, but the guy was already screwed up. She took a deep breath. He was looking down, his hair covering completely his eyes. She was looking at him, and if looks could kill he sure would be dead already. She crossed her arms over her chest and leaned back against the rock

“You know what I’m thinking, right?”

“…Sorry” he whispered

She sighed. She knew he was almost over his limit; she didn’t want to push him more.

“Come on, let’s get you to sleep, I’ll beat your sorry ass later when you’re fully recovered” she stood up and helped him to stagger to his feet. The sun was already setting. Wow! Time passed fast!

They check-in in a small motel and unfortunately their room only had one bed.

“I’ll sleep on the floor” he said

“Oh no buddy, you’ll sleep on the bed… we’ll sleep on the bed, with a big fluffy and comfortable pillow in between” she said

“Fine with me” he shrugged and went to the bathroom to wash his wounds. When he came out she was already lying in bed and in between was—as she said— a huge pillow to divide their sides of bed. She turned around and regretted it…well not exactly regretted it, but you get my point. He was shitless.

“Alex, do you have to sleep without a shirt?” she asked getting under the blankets so he couldn’t see her blush

He smiled; he was too tired to chuckle. He was asleep the moment his head hit the pillow and he closed his eyes. Lynn didn’t dream that night either.

At morning

Unfortunately she forgot that they were sleeping in the same bed that night so when she opened her eyes she was so startled to see him there —at merely inches apart of her face— that she screamed. His eyes shot open. Both of them rolled over in such way that they got stuck in the blankets and then they both ended on the floor.

“Auch!!” she rubbed her butt

He groaned

She gasped, she forgot he was injured. “oh! Alex I’m sorry!!! Are you okay?” She released herself from the deathly grip from the blankets and rushed over his side.

“Why did you screamed?” he yawned, he was still on the floor, rubbing his eyes… he looked cute.

She could see he was totally healed now… and shirtless… oh my! He was totally drool-worthy.

“I can see you’re healed” she smiled “now, put a shirt on!!” she suddenly snapped and walked to the window turning her back on him.

“Why? Don’t you like what you see?” he smiled

“Unfortunately, no!” she turned around only to collide with him

“Alex…” he was just centimeters away from her, she was almost having a heart attack and he was still getting closer.

He smirked

“Don’t smirk; you look like your brother” she said

He just chuckled and went away to the bathroom
