When Dreams Aren’t Dreams

Chapter 9

“uhm?” his voice came from the bed
“Can you read my mind?” she asked

“No”
“Phew!” she thought relieved
“Why they’re following you?” she asked going to her bed, trying not to stumble.
“I stole something from them” she didn’t ask what, because she knew he didn’t want her to know and actually she didn’t want to know either. Too mush info was never good.
“Why don’t you give it back?” she asked sliding under the covers of her bed
“Because they don’t deserve it”
“Ohh…Alex” she called him again
“Yes?” he asked sleepily
“I can’t go back to my normal life, right?”
“No, you helped me, now they will try to kill you” he said yawning
“When I will go back?” she asked
“When everything is over”
She sighed. “Are they human?” she asked
“Most of them aren’t” he yawned again
“What about Jack and Mell?”
“Nope”
Then she remembered something, the first time she saw him, in the restaurant, he did something strange. He filled his glass with oil.
“Alex, in the restaurant, why you filled the glass with oil?” she asked
“Well, I knew someone was going to shoot me, so I filled it with oil so when the bullet came it would slow down because of it and would give me time to back up” he simply said
“Wow…”
“Amazing” she thought “by the way, you have to take me to my apartment tomorrow” she said
“Sure…wait! What!?” his eyes shut open
She laughed. The room was dark and she would have wanted to see his reaction “Yes, they promised me 500 dollars after I helped them to catch you”
“They didn’t catch me” he said
“But I helped them”
“Whatever, we’re not going, is too dangerous” he said “they can use that money as a bait”
“The mailbox is in the lobby almost in front of the principal door, we only have to run in and run out fast that’s all” she smiled
“Lynn, we’re not going”

-At morning-
“Come on! Wake up!” she shook him harshly
“Whaa— what’s happening?”
“We have to go, hurry!” she said putting her shoes on
“Problems?” he asked reaching for his gun
“No”
“Then what?” he snapped
“We have to go to my apartment”
“I told you I wasn’t going” he fell on bed again and buried his face on the pillows.
“Come on” she shook him
“No”
“Wake up!”
“No”
“Come on!!”
“I’m not going”
“Hurry!”
“No”
“Please”
“No!”

“Think positive, we’re rescuing 500 dollars from my mailbox” she said getting out of the car (a car he got when he went to buy food… don’t ask me how)
“I can’t believe I’m here… anyways do you think they’re going to pay you?” he asked closing his door
“I don’t know, but if we don’t look we’ll never know” she grinned happily walking towards her apartment
“Are you always this positive and cheerful?” he asked, following her
“Most of the time!”
“yeah, when it comes to money” he muttered and she glared at him
“What?”
“I heard you!”
“Well it’s the truth”
“You don’t know me”
“Is there’s anything you would do without money been involved?”
“Yes”
“And what would that be?”
“Kick your ass” she said as she entered her apartment. She went to her mailbox while he was keeping an aye open, just in case.
Lynn opened her mailbox and took out a few envelopes
Electrycity she put it back
Water back to the mailbox
Then for last one a white envelope with no address. She opened and there it was her money! She was going to jump and scream in excitement, but Alexius grabbed her arm and pulled her roughly upstairs
“Someone is coming” he whispered
“I got it!!” she whispered back grinning and waving the envelope in his face
“I can see that” he scoffed. They were running upstairs but they heard footsteps above them and a few voices saying ‘I think they’re here’. He dragged her to a hallway almost making her stumble
“Hey!” she hissed
“Sorry”
“Did they notice us?” she asked in a whisper
“I don’t know”
They were running down the hallway to reach the opposite stairs that will let them out of the building. Suddenly they heard guns being loaded and voices coming from the stairs they were trying to reach. They stopped in their tracks.
